anybody know anything about this?...I was watching quali from Suzuka, and I saw this. I was pretty confused. this was right after Jaime Alguersuari stuffed it into Degner I and II.

Joseph.

What are you confused about??? Don't worry, your eyes aren't fooling you :)

senna was a legend in japan and people still pay tribute to him.

Awesome - I want one.

See, nowadays drivers will have trouble getting that kind of recognition from a helmet because they constantly change the designs, which takes away the point of helmet colours. 👎
There are the exceptions, but seriously, Vettel keeps confusing me with his.

Yeah I agree - but then again he needs to stay away from being Mr Grey like he was for a few races...

Lewis has had the same helmet since he started F1 (and I assume longer)... and everything I see an inboard - I can tell instantly it's him... This is good.

Indeed, though I'm not sure I like him straight-copying Senna's colours, its a little unoriginal but I can live with it because there's nothing wrong with taking inspiration.
Barrichello and Button are two drivers who have stayed constant throughout mostly (though it was annoying when they both used Brawn colours in earlier races).
Some drivers like to start using their team's colours too much, which means everytime they change teams or sponsors they also change, which isn't very helpful.

Yeah fair point - but he does say that Senna was his hero...

Buttons has changed twice this year - his current one with what looks like scratches on - was a competition... and earlier in the year he wore a "Brawn" helmet...

Rubens changed his for Massa I think - but only a modification - not a full redesign (I think).

Most of the other drivers have kept their designs static - unfortunately none of them have really stood out enough for me to remember them fully - ones I can remember are Sutil (Red and shiny), Trulli (Looks like metallic italian flag) & Rosberg - Yellow - actually quite similar to Senna again!

EDIT : this is a good site to see helmets... http://www.formula1.com/teams_and_drivers/drivers/6/

I like Rosberg's matte blue on his, stands out quite well I think.

But yeah, I think thats also the problem, some of the drivers just have too similar helmets, I recall Kimi's and Heikki's look very similar. The Red Bull drivers are the worst for this, they have obvious changes if you look at them when still and next to each other, but at speed on a track they are rubbish for distinguishing, I resort to looking at the T-cams more than anything nowadays.

I think Barrichello has changed his helmet two or three times. He started out with the white helmet with the yellow Brawn coloured spots on it. Then there's the Massa tribute helmet, and now the white with the orange spots. Glock has the best looking helmet out of all drivers, hands down. Way to put the german flag on the side there, and the white bit on the front makes it all come together.
