My car, with NO aids, will slow dramatically in corners, much more than other users (judged by replays on fixed setups, like the Jeff Gordon racing school at Daytona). Very annoying, how do I get rid of this issue?

Try the tuning section. If I remember right Mad Finn Tuners has a nascar tuning and If you submit a thread requesting the tune in that section you might get more help.

You can't tune in the JG Driving school though, so I can't imagine it being a tuning issue

ASM is switched on permanently since an old update, that is what slows you down. You can compensate for that by increasing ABS to 10, to weaken the braking effect. But the essential skill for those Nascar challenges is accurate drafting, and very smooth cornering to minimise the ASM kicking in.

I'll give that a shot, thanks

I think you'll find it's your driving. I know it seems harsh, but especially with the NASCARs it's all about being smooth.

If you carry just a few to many mph into a corner you start sliding then ASM steps in and slows you even more.

I haven't heard about turning ABS to 10, it might work but what I did was have ABS on 1 and brake balance at 1/0 or 0/0 to minimise ASM.

Keep the draft at all times and just practice, good luck!

This isn't really about the NASCAR deal, that was just an example, doing seasonal cape ring is slows me wayyyyyy down in the long left hand hairpin. Pisses me off haha

Then it's definitely your driving.

It sounds a lot like you're breaking to late then turning in and sliding. Basically asking way to much of the tyres.

You need to brake earlier, settle the car and then once you hit the apex, accelerate out of the corner making sure to use all of the track.

It's often true that the slower you feel you're driving, the faster you're actually going.

As Limey says but try and accelerate before the apex. Listen to what Jackie Stewart says about cornering. He's right!

Yeah I just did as little steering input as possible and improved my times enough to win with a 391PP car. Just overlooked the obvious, thanks all.

IN slow...out fast. Like someone else said, seems like your probably carrying too much speed into a corner.
