Cote d' Azur.

I know we all love this famous F1 track. But has anyone else noticed that you can't race this track in 2P mode? Its only available to the 1P mode and Simulation.

I think it's more of the developers not pushing the PS2 hard enough. I'm quite confident that it could handle four Monaco's being loaded without any sign of slowdown.

Yeah it sucks, though you can play it if you use an i.link cable.

i bet, if gran turismo was for the xbox it would be much better then it is now, better grafix, more cars&maps, 4 player split screen, and no slowdown! yes th game has slowed down on me in 2 player!

Yes, the xbox is a lot better than the ps2. The only games I would play on it would be pgr2 and halo so I didn't buy it. Instead I bought a ps2 that I only plat gt3 on (I do own other games). Doesn't make much sense, but oo well. Maybe the ps3 will be worth a crap whenever it's made.

I still prefer the PS2 over the Xbox. The Xbox may outclass the PS2 in terms of sheer hardware and graphics, but it could not match the greatness of most PS2 games like MGS2, GT3, and some other anticipated PS2 titles.

Uh...... Considering the age of the PS2 I think it is doing quite fine..... X-box is a new hardware system and had benefits of more developed technology... I still think the PS2 (because of its age) has a better game library than the X-box..... Though for me, arguing which system is better is kinda wrong because I would want to have both..... (But the fact that I have a PS2 speaks volumes I guess)

The real hardware war will start with X-Box Next and PS3

BTW, Cote d' Azur sure seems like a tight racetrack... I wonder how they fit all those F1 in that course..... And I had no clue that I couldn't race on Cote in 2p mode... That sucks, it is a really interesting course~

Let stay on topic here, This is not a console battle thread.

My game has never slowed down when battling a buddy on 2P mode. My game is fine, just the cars and tracks are missing a few details. Of course we know Cote d' Azur is in i-Link mode. but we also know that the track is 25% wider than the real one.

I was looking at this other game from a while back, don't remember the name of it. It was a cool F1 game I downloaded the demo from IGN. The monaco course was fantastic, it seemed much harder, tighter, etc. I could relate all the turns to the GT3 version. It seems as if the laptimes would greatly drop if we all had a taste of the REAL monaco...
Hopefully PD will get the liscence for it, we'd all get a treat

Mine has slowed down in 2p battle with a large track (GV, SS11) and fully modded race cars. Hope they make better use of the PS2's resources in GT4.

I think the reason it slows down is because it doesn't make use of the PS2's VU chips, they're what make the console better than the Xbrick, and why GT4 and San Andreas will only be for PS2. But away from that, my theory is that PD had no knowladge of the VUs when GT3 was developed, add that to the fact that they were new to the console and unsure of it's abilities, and you get a below par game as far as statistics are concerned. I'm not saying GT3 is below average, but as far as what the PS2 can handle it is.

history repeats itself. When the old, grey PS came out ot was 3 or 4 years (hmmm.... about the time of GT...?) until any really decent games came out - how can the software houses write their best stuff till they know exactly what they are dealing with?

Cote doesnt seem that much richer graphics wise than SSR11 so i dont see why it isnt included in 2P battles. I also would like to point out that no matter how powerful a system might be (X-box) it means nothing without great games to back it up (GT3). Admittedly the Xbox does have its share of good games, but any system with GT3 rules all!!
