My friend has a Jeep so we went off-roading and we were having fun and he decided to go 40-45mph into a muddy puddle that had ruts under the water which we of course couldnt see, so he turned into that puddle and then he turn to the left to get out of the puddle and the jeep kinda rolled and smacked into a tree, so if i wasnt wearing my seatbelt i could have died yesterday. Oh yeah when the jeep rolled my side was on the ground, u know sidewayz on the ground so the door wouldnt open.

Just thought u guys would like to know.

Yeah I did actually, bumbs and bruises no broken bones or anything, my head smashed into the side window and all he has to do is pay for the damages his dad was real cool about it.

WOW... A little after school excursion gone bad. Glad the jeep didn't roll on one, but on a side note, the mud would have broken the impact of the jeep on your body, however, the mud would have also sufficated you. So  for seatbelts, eh?

Hate when that happens? I do.

My brother drives like a maniac on the way home from school, and we have a ton of close calls, never an accident though. this older girl in my Spanish class said "You and your brother almost hit me yesterday" and I just said, "It happens, and we didn't hit you". I know something is bound to happen someday.

in '97 we got hit by a deliver van at 40mph(we were stopped in our old MPV, and it was like an off set crash test like the insurence tests)and I was in the passenger seat, the side that took the hit. If I wasn't wearing my seat belt I would have been part of the windshield. I always wear my seat belt, even if we're cruising through a parking lot I got it on. Never know when someone will hit you.

Well I wouldn't be here today if it wasn't for a seatbelt back in 1992.

Wrapped my first car all the way around a telephone pole, after being cut off. I was at an all night party, I was 20, drunk and really stupid.

I had bruised kidneys, a little blood in my pee and a huge diagonal bruise across my chest from the belt. The nurse said that if I wasn't wearing it, at best I'd be eating thru a straw for the rest of my life, and at worst I'd be :rip:

Talk about a lesson learned.

What is it with offroad trip and nearly getting killed?

Me and my friends where out riding around in a 70's somthins International Scout 2. We saw a mudhole that we had gone through before, it was only about 3 or 4 inches of water the last time we went through it. We decieded to go about 50 mph through it, it was the onlything it this enterire field, so we where not too worried about hitting anything. So there we are just about ready to hit it the puddle, and the roof pops of, and slides forward and nearly hits me.

Then the big problem came, as soon as we hit the puddle, with in about 40 feet we where at a dead stop. 50 to 0 in about 40 feet.

That was quite a ride, we thought we broke the tranny or something. Little did we know that it had rained heavily since the last time we came out and played, and it was all mud. We sank the entire height of the tires (36 inch") and about halfway up the door. amazingly no injurys, just a bruise on the knees on one of my friends.

We had to sneak back and get the other scout 2 to pull it out. No damage to the truck, except a bent licence plate and some new dings from rocks.

When I was little I went screaming round I blind corner on my bike and this car came out of no wheres and nearly bowled me over. Even worse the roads was gravely so the bike just slide across the road when I locked the breaks up. The driver was an old hag and went on about nothing for ages!

hehe bike accidents.

When I was 8 or so I had just gotten a new bike: The Oreo bike. My uncle worked at Venture and got it. It had oreo hub caps, oreo pads, oreo seat cover, it was a riced out bike. I got on it and rode away, not really knowing how to use the handle brakes, as my previeus bike had the deal where you back pedal and its the brakes. So I get on the road and got honked at by a Mazda B Series truck(go figure) and went off the road and killed a mail box and slid on the road, using my face as an auxillery brake. That hurt. The mail box was turned 90 degrees, and was half on with a hugh dent from my head. I was wearing a helmet though, I would have been a human eraser with my head on the ground. It did something with the seat, as a week later my dad took it for a ride and the seat fliped off leaving the post(owch!!!). I had to take the hubs off after a gust of wind steered me into a rock a nieghbor had to prevent lawning(they were on a corner like we are)and I fliped it.

I got rid of that bike and got a Road Master Razor's Edge...the biggest crap ever. I was coating the chain and sprockets with WD-40 and sprayed the rims too. I went down our hill at about 25 and slamed the brakes. Nothing happened, I just kept going. Then they locked up and I fliped it. I was OK though. A month or so later I was riding through a hilly meadow near our house and there was a ditch that you really couldn't see and we were going about 30(I had a big analog speedo, you'll see how that has to do with this story)and when we saw it we slamed the brakes, my brother wiped out and was OK, I just kept going(brakes sucked on that bike)and hit it at about 20mph. I fliped it and landed on my back, only to have the bike land on me, with the big old speedo slamming me on my chest. I got up and collapsed, I was totally winded.

Since then I haven't crashed much, due to a new bike that is perfect for me.

A lot of flipping I did...

 Yikes!!!

Wow the horror stories. Done lots of off roading, no crashes as of yet..... (however I do not make 40MPH passes through unknown mud holes....

 I guess that's why ballistics people fire guns into big barrells of water, to get bullets. Ultimate braking power!

PS ZeroCool glad you're OK.

I've only had about 1 major accident on a bike. (18 speed mountain bike)

I was racing down a steep hill really fast and there was a sharp corner ahead, so i put the brakes on and nothing happened.

Then the brake cable snapped and i crashed into a wire fence at about 50Km/h and unfortunately my shoes were not very good brakes.

If the fence wasn't there i would have gone straight off the cliff/really steep hill and probably ended up with serious injurys.

About 20 seconds after i crashed i stood up and said "bugger" or something like that, and then continued going down the hill.

Surprisingly i was'nt hurt at all.

That would have been bad, going off a cliff. I haven't done that bad, but my brother slamed a tree head on when he was 8(I was 5). He was flying through the front yard and bam! He hit it smack dab in the middle. He had to get stitches and the wheel was bent pretty bad. I think we sill have that bike some where...
