I wanted to wait until someone brought up the possibility of DC racing elsewhere so I didn't look like a :dunce:...he made a visit to Michigan (I think) a few weeks ago for the NASCAR race and he enjoyed it. I wonder if perhaps Red Bull might boot AJ Allmendinger in favor of DC, though that particular situation might be a bit hasty.

David Coulthard is to make a day-trip to a NASCAR race next month - but only for promotional purposes and not as a scouting-trip for a potential career change.

The Red Bull Racing driver will visit the race at Dover as a guest of the NASCAR Red Bull Racing Team - whose drivers are Brian Vickers and AJ Allmendinger.

Speaking about the visit, which takes place a week before the Canadian Grand Prix, Coulthard said: "I'm interested in all sorts of racing, but hardly ever get a chance to see anything other than Formula One.

"So when Red Bull came up with the idea of shooting a promo film around their NASCAR operation on the week before the Canadian GP, it seemed like a great opportunity to go and see why this form of racing is so popular in the States."

In a press release issued by Red Bull previewing the trip, his team made it clear that Coulthard was there for fun - not to try and get a new job.

The statement said: "Please note that David is visiting this event solely to shoot a film for Red Bull and we would appreciate it if you did not start a load of silly rumours about him switching from F1 to NASCAR in 2009. Yee Ha!"

Trulli went with Toyota to Michigan.

It's funny that they went as far as to make a press release, as if more than two people would have recognized Coulthard in person, in civvies, at a NASCAR race.

Bah forget testing DC, grab yourself a commentator's mic! :)

S'all right, we won't have to worry about that twonk next year.

...

James Allen that is...

As for DC, was quite surprised after the story of "I'm Not Ready To Retire" just a week or so before. It's a shame really, but I guess if he feels he's had enough, he's had enough. Best of luck for him in the future.

This just in.... www.f1.com .....

Sad to see him go! Good luck DC we will miss ya!

Oops the BBC beat F1 dot com to the punch... I guess that what you get for being lazy... LOL

He got close enough to the title a couple of times. But then again only about 2.5% of all F1 drivers have become champions. So he did fairly well.
