Counting down to Le Mans

I looked at your links and conceed that Porsche is its own stand alone company, at least since 1984. Thank you for bringing this to my attention. I would say that given Porsche and VW are financially seperate, they have the closest relationship of any other separate automotive partnership. While your information is certainly correct, my assertion that Porsche's experience has influenced Audi at Lemans still stands. That was my primary point from the beginning. With regards to VW and BMW compared with VW and Porsche, VW and BMW have never engaged in any platform or engine sharingas have VW and Porsche. Sharing AWD equipment is something minute in comparison. Maybe I'm a little stuck in the past. If I wanted to, I could transplant the engine in my '64 Porsche 356C into a beetle of similar age with ease, with 4 main bolts holding the engine/transmission to the car. A BMW from the late 60's like a 1600 would have no compatability with my porsche save for possibly tires. They may however had similar transmission components like synchromesh gears. Certainly the VW, Audi, Porsche relationship is like no other in the automotive industry. Its too bad they don't have my car in GT4. The closest thing is the Karman Ghia I guess. I've got it up to over 100 HP, great at citta di aria. I'm glad they included the 2002 Turbo, one of my favorites in the game.

PD had damned well better have the DBR9 in the next version of GT. Those cars are going to be showing up in almost every major GT racing series in the world. Look at this:

They plan to have no less than three teams of two cars each. That's a major commitment to racing. Apparently they'll be running one team in each of these three series next year:

Wow. One team each for ALMS, LMES, and FIA GT. That leaves only the Super GT series (formerly JGTC), but its understandable that they'll stay out of that one with the rules so heavily favoring Japanese brands.

This is great to see. Aston is absolutely serious about challenging Corvette and Ferrari for supremecy in world GT racing. Considering how they've been doing so far, they certainly have a real shot at it.

Porsche has unveiled there new lmp2. They say that it isn't going to compete in Le Mans 2006, but it is going to compete in the ALMS.

I'd love to see Porsche and Ferrari duke it out again for the fastest cars on the track at Le Mans. A Ford GT would be cool to see there too, if they could make the aerodynamics work a little better.

Weird that Porsche would design for the LMP2 category.
I guess there's enough demand from U.S.....article states it was commisioned by Porsche America.

Porsche has always been about supporting the "Privateer". Look at their involvement in the "Rolex" series...they're probably just extending their "affordable racing" line. Most companies won't commit the $ to the top categories unless they know they have a chance at some podiums.
