My guess is that it would create a little picture of the car instead of just viewing text. Why don't you just click it?

i did, and nothing happen. the thumbnail is already there.

Maybe it writes an exportable thumbnail somewhere rather than needing to use a full-blown photo mode to show someone your car?

When you enter the "thumbnail" view of your garage, some of the cars don't have pictures. My two DLC cars didn't. However, if you click on them and tell it to "create thumbnail" it'll create a thumbnail image for the car and they will show up. I just did it with the GS GT5 NASCAR and sleath McLaren.

so if the thumbnail already there, creating thumbnail is not dooing anything?

Actually, I believe if you have made visual upgardes to your car and the changes don't show in the current thubnail this will update the thumbnail to include those changes.

in order to try out a bunch of paint styles without losing my paintchips permanently, i first backed up my save data to a usb thumb drive. after playing around for a while, i reverted to my usb save data but when i relaunched the game the thumbnails were still in the crazy colors (which differed from the actual color). i tried using the create thumbnail to fix the error. the changes did not appear immediately but when i left the garage and came back, it displayed the updated thumbnail images.

What exactly could that mean? ^^^
It's like the thumbnails were saved somewhere else. I think it's like the same way that no matter what we try to do, we have a limit to how many times we're able to "Gift" items. From online being connected to offline, perhaps?

i switched to a new ps3 and transferred all of my data from it, but in the switch half the thumbnails didnt show up for my cars, so i had to go through 300 cars and click that button, but now i can see them all : )
