Thought I'd throw this up for those who like to tinker. The pics show an addition I put on the shifter arms that protrude from the wheel housing. I did this so I could put both shifters on the wheel (left and right side) and still have steering room for your hands. There are p2 connectors connected on both sides of the wheel. I simply plug in the shifter I want to use. Way too much work to keep taking the shifters off the arms, each time you want to switch.

All mod pics are now being listed in the 1st post, as well as in the thread, with more info.

Shifter mod
For adding an extension to the shifter rods so that both shifters are attached to the wheel.

Pedals mod
Custom made inversion parts for clutch and brake pedals.

Wheel tape
Gel tape to cover the slickness of the upper part of wheel.

Rod bracket
A bracket to remove approx 95% of the twisting motion of the shifter rods that extend from the wheel.

nice trick, i would like them both on the left side, side by side with six shifter closest to the wheel

I think the rods are just long enough to do that (stock). Although, I think you'd be running your hand into the outside shifter, while using the gated.

It would be great if we could use both at the same time and use the sequential as a handbrake.

I don't think there is anyway to map the shifters individually. Unfortunately, only one shifter can be active at a time.

Next up...

Custom inverse pedals for the CSR Elite (brake and clutch). A tad more finish work but, should be done in the next day or so.

Nice work Stones. I'm unclear as to the exact mechanics of the shifter rod extensions. It looks like you've got the gold extensions set-screwed to the stock rods, which means they're larger diameter. Do they step back down in order to fit through the sifter base?

Have you had a look at the PCB on the pedals yet? Does it have the empty connector labeled "Handbrake" like the one on my Clubsports does? I'm not sure that the firmware supports it yet, but if we eventually get an update that does, I'm gonna hack an adapter so I can use the sequential shifter as a handbrake.

On a somewhat related CSR modding note:

Has anyone split the plastic parts of the wheel yet? Is it as simple as pulling the screws in the back? I'd like to sand them down and then coat them with Plasti-Dip or something. I prefer to drive at 10 & 2 and can't stand the slick plastic.

I'd go ahead and do it, but I just got the setup and it arrived with a faulty H-shifter. At least, it seems to be the shifter. Gotta wait for the replacement shifter to ensure that's the problem before I start screwing with the wheel.

Correct.

Yes and no it does not.

I have not. I'm thinking more on a soft tape of sorts but, I'm ok with where I place my hands.

false, it is in stock and fanatec starts shipping next week and accepts orders NOW :)

From Fanatec website:

3 sets of inversion plates (left and right side)
Rubber covers (only needed for CSR Elite pedals)

Can't figure if there's a plate for gas/brake/clutch each or not.

Wheel tape.

Decided I really didn't like the plasticky/seamed wheel and went with some black gel tape. Very comfortable.

Now that is epic 👍👍👍
How long did it take for you to wrap the gel tape around the wheel rim?

1/2 hour or so. Tried it a couple of times to see how it would lay out the best.

I just wondered why would Fanatec just have the alcantara on the sides of wheel rim instead of the whole wheel rim. Oh well this is a great alternative. 👍

I like this idea and would consider it, but I'd also be worried about the added weight at the top throwing it out of balance, or puting added strain on the ffb motors... I'll be following this to see if the top plastic part is removable, so maybe a foam wrap could be used instead. But all-in-all, it doesn't make it look half as bad as it easily could've, so nice job.

The weight is minimal. As far as balance, hmmm...I suppose if the wheel was spinning around like a tire, that could be a problem but, I seriously doubt that. Added strain on the ffb, again, highly doubt that is an issue. Time will tell.

I did the exact same thing independently last week (probably with the exact same black gel grip tape from Amazon). Except I did not use electrical tape or other tape to fix it -- I started with the right end underneath to clamp it down and pulled the left open end through a loop of the wrap at the left side and then pulled it down to tighten it over time (as it'll have a bit of play as it all breaks in). Except for the tape, our results look almost identical. I wrapped it pretty tight. 👍

It makes a world of difference, an it doesn't add enough weight to do anything to the FFB motors. Very minimal addition (it's like really solid cork foam).

Yeah that wheel is a much lighter feel than the PWTS which has a similar / same FFB motor so I think you'll be alright.

Rod bracket. This eliminates at least 95% of the twisting motion of the rods that the shifter set(s) attach to.
