Because it's easy to forget, and the cut may be arguable. Also there may be points where someone has a big gap between the races behind and infront of them, so would not be seen by anyone else.

Having cars parked would show a clear point of cutting, and give an incentive to be carefull through the chicanes.

This is stupid, we've been through this already, if everyones doing it then no one can complain and no one will have to remember who cut where and by how much etc...
 
But cutting isn't racing. If people are cutting then i don't belong here.
 
im with mcglone.. on gpf you gain at most a second, around here you can make up 3/4.. I dont give a **** if everyone is doing it it's just taking it too far now... If we must run penalties for this track so be it. Nurburgring i accepted but not monza. The corner cutting here just goes too far now.

I'd be more than happy to watch both race replays to see who cut it. It's fair if you cut it by making a mistake but more than 1 or 2 mistakes is just deliberate. Also if A position is gained then obviously you must give it back... Obvious Etiquette of racing which must be adhered to by everone!

I'm also on the no-cutting side. A big feature to Monza is it's scary chicanes, and cutting them seems to be a rediculous idea, although fair. I really thing we should sort 2 or 3 drivers to sit on the apexes to prevent any cheating.
 
Penalties cause any car off the racing line to go invisible, which leads to one driver being able to drive through the entire pack on the first corner.
 
The game should give damage/punctures for hopping over the curbs too much. That'd sort this debate haha. I'm in the no cutting camp though. If we're allowed to cut them that's the two best overtaking spots gone, so we'd may as well just give points out after qualifying.

All it'd need is for two non-competitors to start at the back of the grid and then park themselves near the apexes of the chicanes. They wouldn't even have to be by their TVs for most of the race.

are we still running the 500pp limit?

I agree with what you are all saying but it's qualifying where the issue lies. I don't like the corner cutting any more than the rest of you but people will do it so the only fair way is to allow it. Putting cars on the corner is a good idea but I don't see anyone doing it.
 
id happily do my qualy run first then park up...
 
If we do find two kind people to park up, we could essentially 'red light' the pit lane, until they are ready, I suppose I could ask Kazza to be one.
 
I just wanna see what the Honda's and MX-5's can do.
But yeah having two people park up is a good idea. When you give the green light to go make sure you do it by the chat thing because some people are hard to hear.
 
Hi all finally got my net sorted I can see the discussion about cutting may I suggest we have an on track marshall. If this happens could I fill this role because I was one of the first people to sign up for the BTCC with Yeti Tech Racing? But due to my college internet I couldnt attend.
 
On track marshall? We just need someone to watch a corner so there's no cheating going on.
 
Ok. I just got back from weekend and was surprised by all this nonsense.
I don't really want to drive in Monza if people are cutting the chicanes.
And I believe we have enough people offering to watch the replays so we're safe.
It's not that hard to notice people cheating. If you see a best lap 1 or 2 seconds best than anyone else it's obvious that driver cut the corners. Change to that driver and watch him cheat in order to get that lap time.
If we are allowed to cut them I might join Mole and don't race it at all.
 
I'll add my name to the list of people who are firmly against chicane cutting
 
Yeah, i'm not racing if people are cheating. Another thing cutting isn't accepted in any other good event so why should this be any different.

But anyway , i'm hoping to be right up in the front pack. ;)
 
I'll pop along at 8 tonight and see if I'm needed to watch the chicanes
 
Just thought I'd contribute my own bit, been watching your guys progress.

When my TOCA Series went to Monza we had the exact same discussion about chicane cutting, and we simply only allowed two wheels on the kerb. If more than 30% of the car was actually over the kerb, to the point it was straightlining the chicane, then we were prepared to hand out penalties. As it stood everyone behaved and did their job, and we had no issues. My belief is that hitting the kerb is fine, but cutting to the point most of the kerb is actually under the car is not right.
 
This is little more than that i think. Of course two wheels must remain on track on the time but literally cutting the whole chicane.
Also another thing how do you now if the car is 30% over on the kerb?

Another problem. Don't no if you had this MrMulsanne but when everyone is flooring it down to first corner and races i been in there's always 3-4 cars trying to out brake each other. Due to space is cutting that first be accepted?

Generally yes but as we had all penalties off, any contact did count so everyone was more cautious. And generally if anyone got a sizable advantage, they slowed slightly to allow others through. Also towards the end of a race thing got a bit wilder and we did have some wild lunges up the inside, but as they more often than not lost people time (as they were blocked by people on the racing line) no action was taking. Also the threat of time penalties kept people in check.

But hell, 5 abreast into the first chicane happened a fair bit, but it (mostly) worked out.

LOL. Most of the time i can out brake people. That day just went wrong ;)
