Hello. I watched some of the top 10 qualifying replays in race B today and in
turn 1 they went way wide almost touching the wall with no penalty.
Every time I tried it I got a penalty.

Is that a cheat they changed recently or am I just being picked on? Lol

I noticed the same thing. I feel like initially people got away with it, or they are doing it just right so as to not trip the penalty. It’s stupid, good for .5-1sec.

I’m also noticing that in the race, the braking for turn 2 is different than in quali. And not that the draft is making you have to brake earlier, it’s the opposite, I’m braking much later. First race threw me off and I was braking way too early.

I've occasionally gone much too wide in turn 1 by mistake in qualifying and not received a penalty. It doesn't seem to have a continuous clean/dirty line around the track that causes a penalty when you cross it, it seems to work on a combination of throttle and entering specific areas. I'd guess some people have tried it over and over again until they find a way to reliably repeat a wide line without a penalty.

Re braking, although the game doesn't model tyre wear for race B, does it still model changes in tyre temperature and pressure? I could swear that some cars are better when cold and others when warmed up, in qualifying, though it could just be the ebb and flow of my driving form.

I wrote to @Milouse about it in his Kudosprime Thread and asked him how it is possible.
We both couldn‘t figure it out why it happend.
I was the only Dr.S( it was in the Beginning time of GTS when A+ was non existent, you remember right?!) in a room full of Dr.D Passengers XD
I won and yet i lost 7DR, so yeah, i won to loose :D

That was a long time ago, pretty sure it's not possible now, been confirmed by multiple people who'd know. Likely this glitch was fixed at some point on the quiet.

Have not raced here for a while or seen the replays so it's possible it's changed but previously it all depended on how you took that first corner. There was a line you had to take getting very near the apex, even using the inside curb (too much is penalty though) to then be able to run as wide as you want without a penalty, get the line even slightly wrong and you got a penalty if you ran wide, even by a small amount. ;)
 
No formula updates today, drove few laps, but powerlifting and gt sports dont fit to same day :lol:
Got my race B time to 1:29.6xx so nothing special there either.
Well, I think Im done for the week anyway, and jump to practice next week.

I really like Fuji and with GR2 it will be so much fun. Also the Autopolis is one of my favourites.
For gr4 there will be lots of cars that will be fast there, IMO.

Yep. If you're far and wide, take your foot off and you get away with murder. On the other hand, step over an inch with your foot down and its game over.

I've noticed that with the penultimate turn. A little bit too much curb on the outside still going full throttle that's a penalty.

But I've been so wide and off track around on a crazy line, I might as well be orbiting the planet but because I throttled off, coasted and generally didn't gain any time, the game let's you carry on.

Bit of a cheeky one really though... Yes you may not have actually gained any time, but you certainly lose less than you would slamming on the anchors and trying to keep 'legal'. Where are those stewards!?

RIP GT sport. You will be missed. The current state of the weeklies should be an add on aimed at those fervent fans of japanese racing. The rest of us should get another more international add on.

One of those Turismo fellas is damn close to making my list. He may qualify well, but he can't race for 🤬. He's also a tool, in the post race. And he's DR B (wtf?). Switching accounts now, which is really not good news for him. :mad:

I’ve seen a lot of Turismo names lately that I haven’t seen before, I think they may be expanding the group. So maybe it’s a new account that’s just being built up by someone, as far as being DRB anyways. There’s no good reason for being an unprovoked Jerk though.

He needs taking out at some point. He tried to take me out right on the finish line as I had the run on him; I'm gtp_dvddjd. And he didn't see anything wrong with his antics.

Good racing with you today! I thought I recognised the name :)

No kidding? I'll be damned. Yeah, I had good races with you. My plan is not to take him out if I see him again, but to pull a Sven, and touch him and then the wall. :lol:

That's weird indeed, and to be honest i don't remember we discussed this before. I provided the data, but @Outspacer did the hard work to understand the DR calculation (which is a DR exchange between players), maybe he have an idea about this.

Just sounds like a glitch, possibly fixed since but I don't know. Certainly it's not the intent of the algorithm used, which is meant to give at least 1 point for each person you beat. There was (and probably still is) a bug where the winner would get 0 points from a player where the difference between them is very close to 40,000 DR, but I don't think that bug could extend to a -1 (let alone hitting enough times in one race to add up to -7!).

There are cases where a player has quit from their previous race that can give strange results, but I doubt that applied to your result. What happens is that their ratings are updated when the previous race ends, so you don't see their correct ratings in your race. These days there's no way it would apply, but back when DR resets sometimes went upwards... well, I still can't think of a combination of events that would cause a DR D to suddenly have more DR points than a DR S.

Although I examined quite a few races in detail it was still a tiny number statistically. I never saw a winner lose points, so I never got to analyse why it might have happened. All I can say is it was a pretty rare occurrance even back then, and may have been fixed since anyway.

I'm not absolutely sure of the name but I think I had a race C yesterday with this fellow as we were battling a bit for 2nd or 3rd place and it was all very cool and clean.?! ..... Could be wrong also. I'm not the best at remembering names ;)

I should've known this week was far too varied and interesting to be a sign of things to come. Three absolute stinkers next week. Better get lots of RBR done while I still can.

I ran into the back of the car in front of me while trying to get the view and radar to go back to normal. He apparently fell asleep as he disappeared 30 sec later still at the start line.

Tonight could be the night I crack into the 10’s, the cars feeling good today. :)

Yep. No clue why I got a red S in that race, toy car deduction. Nicely played! I got the fastest lap though :gtpflag:1st out of the final corner ends up 5th. I was slowing down to pass later yet the ones coming from the back build a lot more pace, got to be further behind out of the final corner.

And we wait again, more dishes.

Some things never change. 3 South Americans in that race, 2 ruin my race lol. The lag in this race is very odd. Cars suddenly reset 2 car lengths back or forward or two car widths to the side. You would think the slow pace would cope better with lag.

Yeah, I completely botched that one. Entered the final straight 1st and finished 5th. :banghead: Gonna start at the back on the next one. 👍
