Knew I'd be limited for time this week, so only dropped in a couple of evenings to run quali laps at Brands. That track is so much fun, quali currently at 1:23.067, but optimum is 1:22.3xx which completely sums up my ability at Brands. Reasonably fast, but can't keep 4 wheels on the track consistently enough to string together a really fast lap. Congrats to all those who are surviving races there, that looks so hard!

Anyway, tonight is all about beer & football. Cheers!

Back to A DR.

Brands hatch daily race, once you are punted off track, there is no recovery.
Yesterday, I got punted off the track from 3rd place, and spun around 3 or 4 times, so I sat there in the grass waiting to be reset on the track, and it didn't happen. Hit the gas to get turned around and spun again. Finally got back on the track about 8 seconds behind the 14th place car.

It's like Willow Springs, in the sense that when you get knocked well off the track, you'll probably never catch back up to the car that hit you. :grumpy:

WooHoo! First lap of the day, decided to try the R8 with a new livery, beat my best by 4 tenths. :D

After the update for Brands I am using first gear at corner 2, pushing the front wheels, ensuring to get close to the second apex on the right, you've got more speed to come there. Corner 4 you must also be right next to the 2nd apex on the left as if I don't its worth a few tenths. Corner 5 try to follow the curve around more, trying to get to the second apex of that right turn, it does pay to try to be at that spot too IMO. Love your paint job. Since the update I've had a 1:22.54x i think but my best time shows close to 1;22 flat. I doubt I'll lower it because I leave the track in the race if my brain switches to qualifying mode when leading so I am trying to get out of qualifying mode when racing ... so I'm avoiding trying to drop my time. If I get a chance to race I now need to recover some DR not go spinning off while a few seconds up the road!! I've also found leaving the track at Brands is an effective way to drop 1200 DR ...

Also if anyone can help me - BjornBorgsundies asked to be a friend - we had some fun races tougher on Saturday
and when i tried to re-find the invitation I could not find it??? How can I accept that straight away? How do I ask to be a friend too?

Another issue with the update - since it happened, my Fanatec RSR wheel's left upper toggle that can turn on the rear mirror etc, it no longer works. I may need to update the wheel's software, but has anybody had that issue too? I think its too much of a coincidence for the toggle to fail immediately after the update ...

Thanks guys - and gals hopefully.

But what if the whole field is DR B (10000 DR) or above, which was what happened in my case? Haha sorry for the persistence
Thanks for the info though, I'm learning new things about this whole debacle again
I regret not saving a screenshot or something

If everyone is DR.B or higher (10K+) and no DR.S (that might really be DR.C) then the door numbers are correct in the sense that the highest DR comes first and lowest last.

It still doesn't mean gaining DR when beating your door number, nor losing it if you finish lower. It all depends on the DR distribution of the finishing order whether you gain or lose.

You gain 80 points + (their DR - your DR) / 500 from every person you finish in front of. (min 1, max 160)
And every person that finishes in front of you takes that amount from you.

Finish in front of people with higher DR is 👍
Finish behind people with lower DR is 👎

So if the top 5 (lowest door numbers) all crash out, you can place a lot lower and gain points than when a bunch of lower DR (from resets or alt accounts) with higher door numbers finsish in front of you.

So are the times meant to be faster or slower at Brands after the update?
Was a tenth off my time from before Thursday.

Most are faster. These three are the only ones I got worse times with since the update
1:25.562 (1:25.337) Citroen GT
1:25.983 (1:25.073) McLaren BMW
1:25.911 (1:24.826) Dodge Viper SRT
The Viper drives like ass now.

Nice time! I can't get below the high 23s because I'm too afraid of the grass. :scared:
I had two races this morning and its slower, its a 01:22.553, I thought it was a 1.22..54. I want to spend some an hour qualifying but my DR recovery is more important now I reckon. And my wife informs me I have lots to do otherwise ... :O

It seems to be a rhythm circuit where you can carry speed from good corners, which is why so many have low theoretical times but if you miss a corner it's not possible to gather the lap back.

In the races I have crashed lots and after loosing about 4k from crashing while well in front, I have slowed it down and am safer. But I lost it this morning twice but managed to not loose too much. The net plays a part too for Australians, I know for sure that some errors have been the game not me ... and at Brands that is serious stuff. There are weird things too - for instance I have a race time of 6:55.4 seconds ... I won by 25 seconds ... but my best time was only 1:23.3, which I typically beat. Its not possible to run a 6:55 race lap time if your best lap was 1:23.3.

Another example - the Sheen's curve - I lost it there, in the race, coming second to a super fast japanese A+ driver with a 1:22.1 qualifying time who was driving away from me in a Nissan. So I must have touched the curbing at Sheen's corner on the left side after going through the right hand turning corner - my car went completely sideways, I corrected and saved the car. But I lost hardly any time. That's the game and and net making errors IMO.

BLAST nearly made top ten for B in the R8. Hit a 1:22.053 with a optimum of 1:21.1xx, sloppy lap too, but nailed the final 2 sectors. I can get up 3 tenths on my time in the first half, just gotta get a clean lap. Doing consistent low 1:22’s now.

I’ll take #2 in the country though lol

Finally had a good run at Race B in the Renault RS.01, after being constantly knocked out by other drivers, and being stuck back around my usual placing in about 10th. I stayed back to see if I could get a clean race bonus, and pick off a few places from starting in 13th, but the chaos that occurred at Druids and Graham Hill meant I ended up 7th, and continued to gain places as more collisions and spiteful tit-for-tat ramming between drivers meant more major crashes, and more casualties. I ended up 4th behind the Aston Martin in the pic, who continued to block my line despite me tagging their bumper about 4 times in 3 laps - they clearly didn't have the pace. But in the end I was relieved to have crossed the line with no penalties from other people's mistakes, and without having come off the track once.

Damn Saturday night racing is bad in A/S. On to the third attempt in the Ferrari to get at least one lap without getting bumped out of the way. I want to know what my race pace is with it without getting rammed off. The car needs to be a bit early on the brakes not to slide into the corner, yet bumper to bumper driving is what A/S is 'good' at.

@adokeeffe I hope you don't mean bumping by 'tagging their bumper' That's very annoying and SR Down for the car in front, no wonder they kept blocking.

I guess I'm done for the night. I keep getting NoMpsServer error when trying to join a race. My connection checks out fine, I'm still connected, just can't join the race. Now it has started already anyway, netflix time.

Of course I was bumping them, not bumping them so hard they flew off and hit a wall though, just enough to say "hi, thanks for bumping me earlier, I'm right behind you now" :D

Ah, as long as they bump first :)

I got one good race in before the MpsServer went on strike. The Ferrari is still tricky to drive, but I got about the same lap time in it as the Porsche, that's new. Big improvement for the 458. () time is from before the update.
1:24.629 (1:24.965) Porsche 911
1:24.664 (1:25.265) Ferrari 458
8 more cars to re-test tomorrow, it's gonna be tight, another busy day ahead with few chances of racing.

Eternal spinny thing is still spinning, gts died.

Ahhh okay now it makes sense! Thank you! :D

Couldn't find that RS 01 Interceptor paint job for the GT3 Car.
