Ran a bunch of laps for race A this morning before work. I really do not like fwd, car feels different every lap to me. One lap it pushes out just a bit to much, hit outside wall. Next lap, same speed but try to murder the apex better, car does not push and i hit the inside wall just before or at the apex. Wife actually came downstairs to ask what the hell i was getting so pissed off at. Lots of loud vulgarity was happening. I put a reasonable time down for the C race, but i am afriad to fall asleep if i actually run the race.

Likes for everyone lmao

On the golf site I used to frequent before getting back into GT they actually reset the “likes” on the entire site at one point, I won’t say it was because of me, but I definitely had a part in it lol. There were a few guys who ended up with over 25,000 before the reset, one guy had 40k. They had a 75 like per day limit though, each one came back individually after 24h, I hit the limit quite a bit over there.

Too many likes?

I though you were doing what I was doing, liking things to remember I've read it or I forget because I get stoned. :sly:

I think we're going to have to hear the story about this, Mr. Pigems.

I started a thread one day called, What did you learn about Golf today? It started off good but after a while it kinda blew up into an epic Golf Learning/ GolfWRX Meme thread that went on for a looooong time, likes we’re being thrown around like candy and I think the mods got a little tired of seeing it. They first shuffled it off to the back pages and it finally died off about a year later. There was also another thread I started called “The Wager” where me and a few buddies made a bet to see who could go the longest without buying any new golf clubs, it was much of the same and also went on for almost 8 months. It was torture and we all ended up finding loopholes to circumvent the rules we had made by the end, so no one even Won “The Wager”. Anyways, they updated the site shortly afterwards and all “likes” we erased and everyone had to start back at Zero again.

Side note, in the back pages where the Learning thread was shuffled off to, Posts there didn’t count towards your official post count on the site, but likes still counted. So we had guys with like 5/10 Posts and over 5k Likes lol. I think some people started to complain about it after a while and that’s what ultimately led to the reset, but we were never told for sure. :D

Weekly Races with Friends - Friday_Nights@9pm_ EST

I just didn’t want to have to redo it again in 2 weeks, we’ll be switching to Friday’s in November. :)

That’s actually a very helpful side effect, I can always find where I left off, I just look for where the likes stop. It’s also a good way to let people know you’ve read their posts when you don’t have time for a reply. :)

Am waiting in cue for my first online race (race A). :nervous:

Actively decided to not qualify because I really don’t want to be ahead of dive-bombers on the way into T1, especially at the bottom of the SR pool.

Bought the Audi TT though and got a good feel for it in Time Trial, though my best time was in the high 2.15’s lol

Boy, race A is crap. I don't understand how even A or A+ rated drivers can miss the braking point at t1 by that far... It's a mess and if you decide to play it cool and let them go first, then you can't pass anymore in the twisty section.

Race C is fun, but really tough to pass too. My DR and SR ratings were put to the test tonight.

Race B is turning dive bomby again. It's a challenge to take out as many people at the same time without getting a penalty. DT bowling alley. Must be the last one to hit the brakes, out brake em all! Do some people really think their brakes are better than all the other cars ahead of them?

Next race up, a clean race bonus would be nice again. Ehh, punted again.

What sort of lap times are people running? Pondering whether I can make up more positions in race B i.e. top 5 than I'm managing on Tsukuba (averaging about 10).

Welp, smashed the absolute F out of a car ahead of me that couldn’t drive in a straight line. I tried to stay behind him but at some point in the twisty section, he took a fast corner real wide and thought I could finally get by on the inside... Would have been completely fine if he didn’t ping off the wall and jet to the other side of track, driving nearly fully perpendicular to the track, right in front of me. It seems like he was a millisecond away from ghosting too, as in the bumper cam, he started ghosting as I was driving through him... like Bill Cosby’s Ghost Dad, ha.

Then on lap 2 T1, I was on the outside and turned sharply towards the apex, not even paying attention to if someone was there, but there was. Judging by the rest of the race though, he seemed too light on his brakes on every corner smashing into the exit wall. He likely just dive-bombed, but I need to work on my awareness more. Played cleaner on lap 3.

Was real fun though. Still somehow moved up three spots from 10th.

I presume you are getting location from the in game flag alone? In which case, those with multiple accounts in different regions will know the flag can't always be trusted......

The only flag this game raises is the death flag............

So what yer *really* saying is all these "likes" of yours isn't you being nice, it's an attempt to crash the GTP system in deliberate terrorist attack by Canadian radicals? (Canadian radical? Is that an oxymoron?)

Ghosting is a what it is, Until someone finds otherwise the speed of light sets the boundary on latency. My philosophy is just to bust those ghosts.

Good points. Do you have any recommendations for handling this when faster drivers are breathing down your neck? Hard defense or just concede the place?

It’s situationally dependant, but if there’s a group behind you and he’s faster than you it can sometimes be advantageous to let him by you quickly and duck into his slipstream in order to pull away from the crowd, instead of fighting and slowing the both of you down and letting the crowd behind catch up which make things worse. I usually only defend for more than a corner or two on the last lap, lap and a half maybe. I’d rather chase then be chased though, that way I can make the move when I want to, or try to force him into a mistake. :)

Really good point, thank you!

A clean one, didn't get punted, clean race bonus :)

One thing I notice more often is that the fastest at the front often have the worst internet. This one showed up as 315ms ping, 4 parameters orange and one dead. I guess if you can't get good internet, qualify until you can simply outrun everyone starting on pole!

Anyway, it's pretty fast in the B/S lobby. I'm at 20K DR SR 99 atm.

I have been on Race A only so far, since I actually fell in love with it* from the GR4 race (loved the Lambo) a few weeks back. Having read the comments here I am tempted to give Race B a go tonight (Another one that I love and got into the top 2.5% in the region a couple of weeks ago with the GR 4 GTR).

I managed to do a 2.09.6 with the Megane, and can't resist the temptation of pumping my DR points on this. I have to add, aside from dive bombs at T1, I have had people dive bombing me into the esses. I then get knocked into the wall with a penalty while 10 cars passed by....

* I tend to fall in love with tracks where I can bang in consistent and 'relatively' (within my region) quick laps.

That's very helpful, thanks. I'm doing high 1:28s with the '08 GT-R with a best of 28.6. Midfield finishes at Tsukuba are only giving me 100 DR. Not much to lose taking a flier at the Dragon. At least there's draft, a bunch of braking zones and the chicane of death.....

You should do well, however I'm in the lower split rooms. Popular race, the top split must be full of A+ and A drivers. My next race was all B/S

It's odd, silence before the storm? Very clean race all around with dirty hour coming up.

I don't know. I guess depends how you react to pressure. Some guys are ultrafast solo but lack pace on a melee, other people is the other way around. In my case, not being by any means a fast driver, it works the best way putting pressure on my rivals instead of trying to overtake any corner.
On the other way around, if you think the pressure of fast driver behind you makes you more nervous and error prone, you should let him pass and go on with your race pace. If you have confidence on your lines and braking points, and your rival is no kamikaze, you should make it work hard for the position.
