Just about to start my first race tonight at mount panorama - also first post in about 3 years :gtpflag:.

Anyone know the best strategy for the race? My wife wants to watch a film so i may only have one shot at this lol. I've done a 2:01.6 as my qualifying time so hopefully start frontish I think

How did it go ?

Nice Race! I took some tips from this for sure

quick question: What were you using as your shifting cues? Were you just listening to the engine, or were you watching your speed? No tach in you HUD and shifting before the rev bar lit up had me wondering

Yes, I just listen to the engine. Sounds more like cruising than racing.

I'm struggling hard to get out of SRC. Ever since Tokyo earlier this week which dropped me from SR S to SRC I can't get more than one or two races in where I get a blue SR at the end of my race before there's a disaster that is unfortunate.
Tonight I'm on Bathurst and I had two good races that brought me to SR A. Then immediately after I get punted in T1 and stuck with the back rabble. They cant drive in a straight line to save their lives! So I keep my distance but then its another wreckfest in the Dipper and again I get caught up in it. Because brakes don't work THAT well. Then it's 6 more clean laps to find out I've lost 35 SR by the end of the race! WTF?
That's one punt + two side swipes + 1 rear end + 6 clean laps = -35SR?

After the drop from SR91 to SR19 after a disconnection I was grinding this morning some SR back. After my SR improves the racing gets cleaner. The first two races I managed to get a clean bonus, a wonder if you see how others behave..

Woo:boggled:............... @Tarabass Excellent EQ, I would be mad if get so many "Kisses" from the back.

1st race, how come the 2nd place audi didn't get any penalty as he clearly pushed you off the track near the end.

2nd race, just like playing "bumper cars"

Target to beat of:

GR4
1:31.009
8,309 / 73,361 (11.3262%)

Well, I was successful.... with (IIRC - can't access @jasguer site again today :() a 1:30.942  optimal was 1:30.0xx . Had a bit less time than I thought I would have in the end too...

Thing is, Mount Panorama is really not going to be good for SR... such a tight circuit with so many cars and lots of wall to potentially hit... I had this problem last week too after a really bad race at Interlagos, but luckily Suzuka was the C race the next day, so a couple of races there got me back to 99. Hopefully today's C is a nice track. The other problem is that when you are on your way back to 99, you have to pass through the people who are either on their way down, on their way up or who maintain an A rank which basically means they don't quite have the same driving standards as those on max SR.... chances are that of 20 cars, a handful are going to have a few collisions so you lose more SR.

No idea.. at work now :)

Not really enthused by the choice today... was hoping for group 3 on a track I am good at! Might have to put some time in to getting familiar with group 1 by the looks of things.

Do you know what the car in race A is?

No idea too:lol:

Maybe a off day for me. I am weak at Gr1.:indiff:

A good opportunity to learn then :)

I really tried on Brands last night, but I just can't take that first long corner (Hawthorn) fast enough... I either carry too much speed and go wide, or not enough speed and lose time. The other one I struggle with is Surtees... again, I either go too wide or brake too early and lose momentum. So frustrating but I think I will just have to say it's not my track..

The one good thing to come of it though, is I learnt to drive the M4 with no assists which was pleasing as I couldn't do this a few weeks ago without spinning.

What’s the N400 car in race B anyone??

What i can say is watching the top star video (same car) and learn their line and control of gas. Yesterday, I remember the gear, the speed (the no of km) and the line then try it. It is always failed in the first couple of tests. You would wonder why the top star could do it. After a few lap and some adjustment/reduction of the speed and the line (not as close to the grass as the star). You will do it. 👍

I tried no assists on M4 too. But i was too conservative on the gas to avoid spinning. So lost a lot of time. Any tips for me?

Brands Hatch is not my track either.. Lost positions in every race, though only 3 max. Once I was actually battling for the win but the guy really didn't want me to pass him so we both went off the track at Sheene. Some of the usual stuff happened; pushed to grass and I'm the one who receives a penalty, drive on a straight close to someone and I received two separate 2 sec penalties even though there was no actual contact (lag?).

Managed just under 1:31 with Citroen GT. Was a whole second ahead of my lap but I ran out of qualifying time.. That happens to me a lot. I guess when I notice there's not enough time to complete a lap I'm more relaxed.

The top drivers in the races I took were once again all M4 and Scirocco. Felt like I could compete with the Citroen if I just was more comfortable with the track. Tried Corvette and 86 there too but was almost a second behind my Citroen time.

definitely agree, M4 with no assist is a sure time lost. But also setting CSA or TCS I'm still to far from top times, can't understand how the bigger part of the lot can drive that car both safely and fast...
Do you have idea of what kind of config the fastest ones use with M4? I know it depends on driving style, but there should be a common setting floor to be fast..

Yeah I did watch top 10 and they just seem to be much more balanced, even when I try and copy when/how much brake when to turn etc... as I said: I think I just have to concede that Brands Hatch is just not my circuit. I spent about an hour practising... usually by then I can at least improve but the time I set on about lap 4 or 5 was my best for the night... at least I bettered my previous best though

Hmmm. Maybe that is also part of my problem as well then... I put it down to doing a lot of practise in the Genesis which is easy to drive with no TCS but can still catch you out, so you get a feel for when you can go full throttle, or when you have to maintain partial... so just getting used to doing that I reckon is how.

I guess it is similar to you with the TT, as you have to wait for throttle so as not to understeer... similar principle applies. I did find it much quicker out of corners with no TCS though, I blew my ghost away!

Somehow I managed to bail me some time... So I can put in a few races for today :)
Today's races are my jam!

The night I decide to not use my trusty Citroen and others are using it! I decided last night that I wouldn't even try a lap in it, as I am sure that sticking with it on Interlagos Wednesday night held me back but I choose it for comfort.

Out of interest, where were you starting with a c.1:31?

Though M4 was the majority on the grid last night, still a mix of brands indeed. WRX and Huracan were in the game as well.

I am not an appropriate one to give you the suggestion as I ride on TT mostly for Gr4.

Struggled a lot with M4 though irl i am driving a BM, HAHA:lol:

Is that you in pole there in the TT? Amazing time. A full 2 seconds quicker than I managed!

Agree, we will never know why some tracks are not our cup or tea even with the same car.

@Robben is it you the one suggest not to have ghost in practice?

I read a post mentioned it and the guy said the ghost sometime is a distraction. Then i turn off the ghost and find it races against time instead of the ghost make me faster.:gtpflag:

I actually don't know, but anything on Dragon Trail is good for me :D

I prevent my spins on the M4 through countersteering more than throttle control. I use the M4 in some lobbies where there's really good players and I never turn CSA on when it's unranked, so it is possible to countersteer the M4 and not spin without CSA. Also, I find that shortshifting through corners does more harm than good, because you're not really feeding it less power (powerband) and it'll just upset the car by the upshift. Try applying more and more gas on the car until you spin out, and from there try to work out slight steering adjustments until you can apply the same amount of throttle while not spinning out :)

When I started doing dailys I drove almost exclusively in Citroen but it wasn't really competitive before the last BoP adjustments.

1:31 put me at 5th, 5th and 3rd. In the first I was A/A and in the last B/C :(

I managed to qualify with a 1.40.5 in race A today :).
But I have family stuffs to do, I can't play all day long... :(

You make the difficult looks easy:D You have a good manual CSA:tup:

On Maggiore West? Dat understeer tho.

 true...

In fact, yes that was me that said it  I thought about it (that you "race" too hard against your ghost) when the subject came up but never actually turned it off myself. May try now :)

Can you check please? :)

This is true too.... a few times I would feel it start to spin and it is pretty easy to catch and correct without losing time even with full throttle still applied... it's so quick off the mark that it doesn't seem to affect it too much.

Haha, thanks I guess :D
Robben's description of how the M4 oversteers is pretty spot on; if you get the feel of the car you're golden
Can you check please? :)
If no one answers this by the time I get home (45 mins) I gladly will :)
