Feels good man!!! Another race starting 5th ended 2nd. But whats best, I decided it was last race today, when it finished I jumped into practice to see if I can beat my 1,7.475... I just dont believe in this, my new QT is 1,06.922!!! Am I becoming an alien?;)

This may never happen again, but after almost 400 races, thanks to one make hatchbacks and a simple track, I won one! heh

Today's been a good day, I've clawed my way back from the brink of relegation to DR-B to 35.8k after 5 Race Cs, taking 2 poles along the way. I just wish that I could have converted them to wins.

So been thinking about it while heading in to work this morning and I am pretty sure that the no stop is the way to go. I ran few laps QT on Hards as a practice after my last race and was still able to nail some fast times. Within 1.4 of my fastest Medium qually time. I think if you can avoid the sausage you can be faster that way, but the first lap is a real 🤬 with everyone else on Mediums.

Now I got to find a way to avoid humping the sausage curbs tonight as that was killing me.

Well done mate, the first of a few more no doubt!

I picked up my first win of the week.......From pole started on mediums, as little practice before, so wanted to get a good feel ASAP, and went to hards on lap 11 to the chequered.......

My first race in the SF with this account, so obviously forgot to map the boost button, so had to push that bit harder to keep ahead. Good fun, and looking forward to many more battles this week in C! :)

Is anyone using KERS (is that what it's even called?) in Daily Race C? I just do a bit of fuel saving so I only need to change tyres, but then I can't use KERS because it burns fuel so badly. I can still gain quite a few places doing that, but I'm not sure if it would be faster to use it and just refuel.

I think the point is that often complaints are about attackers not being let by when they are faster but behind, not alongside.

If you are behind, even if you are faster you have to find your way through to get alongside (given the defendant acts properly of course).
I think the last part is the important distinction. Assuming the defending driver isn't being a dick, then the responsibility falls on the attacker. Because it's very easy for a defender to make a clean overtake nearly impossible, and unfortunately that's not a rare occurrence in this game, even in an A/S lobby.

I'm really hoping PD will put the driving school/missions to work in the next GT. In a game that leans heavily towards online racing, a couple of videos are not gonna cut it, I think it's time to have missions where if you ram the AI you fail, sideswipe you get penalty and so forth.

Missions should be what gets you in Sport Mode and when you fail multiple times a mission because you cannot adjust your brake markers and avoid ramming a slower AI car, then you will start putting some serious work in it.

I was using overtake a bit last night, but it is a little bit of a struggle as I haven't got a good button mapped for it on my DS4. Need to work on that. I was not taking fuel, but was running FM2 and revving the balls off the engine and using about half the boost over the race. Was usually finishing at anywhere from 0.3 to 0.6 laps fuel left. I could easily save more in a couple spots as well by shifting for the race rather than following my qually gear shifts.

I've said for a while that this would be the perfect marriage between the older GT titles and the current Sports Mode.

Correct me if I'm wrong (I haven't played a GT title since GT 3), but didn't you have to pass certain licenses to unlock certain racing series on previous GT titles? Why can't some form of that be implemented to online races/race series on future GT titles?

Just raced my first race of the week in A. Q was a 12.4xx and @BenRod was right behind me. Congrads on the podium! The race was brutal from my seat. Ended up back in 10th or 11th after the first half lap. It's too bad, because these combos can make for some really tight, fun races. Finally got clear on L 4 I think, and put in a couple good laps. Last lap was my fastest. A 1:12.6xx in clean air. Finished 6th. Probably gained some DR with all the A's in the room. Had a red S (92) at the end. Could be an SR killer, but I'm hoping the worst of the bombers get weeded out and the S rooms end up being clean. We'll see.

Did somebody say laguna seca?

May have to venture back into punt land this week. Stopped playing sport mode for weeks. Basically came down to I don't get hit off the track in like 1 out of 5 races so whats the point in wasting that much time racing at the back alone from punts/penalties i didn't deserve.

I'd only want that game for some of the trucks. Long haul delivery just doesn't appeal to me. But then I do like driving the Raptor in GTS, so.... :D
Yeah, it's not so much about the equipment as it is figuring out the puzzle of what equipment to use and how to get unstuck. Instead of spending an hour to perfect your qualifying lap, you spend an hour scouting routes to find the best way to move a giant trailer from point a to point b. It's actually quite relaxing. And you don't get punted ;) Damn, the daily races look fun this week though. Maybe I'll hop on later in the week.

Yeah, people do desperate things on the final lap. This guy was dumb. I got a better exit than him, and moved to his inside.
So, he tries to push me off the track. Well, of course I'm not gonna let off the throttle. I discovered today that the "PIT" sign doesn't move.
I expected to knock it over. :ouch:
Anyways, he got a 3 second penalty to drop himself back to 2nd place. :(

*Tip
Here's what a smarter driver would've done in his situation to almost guarantee a victory: When you know I'm closing in with enough speed to overtake you, move to the inside before I get there, forcing me to go outside if I want to attempt the pass. 💡

That Race C is everything i love about this game. The speed is just right for me, I can keep up with my DS4. The car and track flows insanely good. No stupid chicanes or hard brake 180 stuff with dive bomb setup.

And it's so rough to focus 100% for 15 laps with only a small straight to breathe.

My race was sadly messed up when I raced a lapped cars ghost and was blinded just as I entered a corner. Hello sandtrap goodbye race.

I'm curious what everyone is doing tactics wise. I did 9 hard laps and I think I can reduce that but I am uncertain when the tires will fall off a cliff?

No stop snail is an option?

Dual medium and 20 second penalty, has that been tried? I hope this is a 60 second penalty.

No stop is definitely an option, but practice doing the fast laps on hards and learn where to coast and shift to maximize fuel. As long as you are relatively close to Medium pace the lack of passing chances will help you as the mediums drop to about hard pace in 4 or 5 laps. However, with that speed difference any mistake with someone on newer tires gets magnified. Dual mediums isnt worth it with the super slow pit stop and time penalty. Saw a few last night and unless they were last on the lap they were dropping massive amounts of time.

@sturk0167 I only learned that ahead of you by watching a Super GT video from when he did the karts there. He went for a revenge punt and was full head on into it as well. Add that clip to your Tokyo wall barrier spin

Cars are definitely faster with the 1.57 physics. My previous lap at the Race B combo was 1:54.726 which ended up P5 in EMEA, I am now sitting in P8 on a Monday with a 54.660 and the last sector was shocking

I gave race B a go today. Managed a 7th place finish and a quali time in the low 57’s. racing was pretty clean too. I think this one is going to be a fun one to do over the next week lots of time and consistency to gain over the week.

I would have loved to C race at Laguna but I don’t have the credits to buy the car!

Had some nice clean races in Race B today, B/S lobbies. Got caught up in some unfortunate accidents and went off all by myself from P2 so too bad I couldn’t turn any of it in good results:banghead:

Here's some other stuff that can happen at Tsukuba (or anywhere, I guess).

On the 3rd clip, notice how I didn't react? I was was trying to build up my SR after some recent unfortunate incidents.
Had I been at 99, I would have surely caved in his driver-side door. That's why the guys at max SR are the most dangerous. :odd:

I stopped playing for a couple months, got heavily invested into WRC 8 and Dirt Rally 2.0, then I came back last week and had a lot of fun. But then F1 2019 finally went on sale on PSN, and I've been toying with the idea of running full-length race weekends in lieu of the actual season.

I still think GT Sport has the best online racing on consoles, but the rally games are a really fun/different kind of challenge, and F1 2019's AI is probably the best I've seen in any sim. Even though I may be a bit of a masochist when it comes to those games (I retired in Bahrain this morning on lap 54/57 after destroying my front wing), they're compelling enough offline that I don't really miss the frustration of GT Sport.
