Well racing from the back at Suzuka is tougher than I expected because it's like this a lot.

I actually had a decent start but had to go slow because cars in front are going slow and battling and then bang off you go, so typical. Then that driver later ends up 6th because of the following. :ouch:

Now that is obviously an accident and they wait for the other car but maybe the penalty system might want to think about giving a penalty for this kind of thing. :banghead:

:gtpflag:

Those are amazing videos

The first person, people like that are the worst can't accept they might get overtaken or take the wrong path or something
That means your not allowed to pass them at all, this is very similar to what the guy that tried to take me out did yesterday

I've seen him acouple times now always having a penalty so I think he must be really clumsy at this point, but tbh that's a fair old accident and misjudgement, he clearly has no idea of the concept of dirty tyres

Got a chance to race a bit last night using my Alt account. Did some laps in A...need to find some speed. Not a huge fan of the car. Had some fun driving the Viper in B, and with my lap times I should be able to get some good finishes, but with the rocket powered RCZ's filling most grids, I can't get any rhythm going. I follow my race line, and they always have enough speed to get some overlap on my rear quarter, then it's either pit or punt. If I cover the inside, they pit me from the outside. I need to work on my Q time, but low 38's are easy, yet my fastest race lap is maybe a 40. I've also been picking up .5 second penalties a lot. Gotta work on that.
Maybe I'll drive Suzuka. I did some laps, and the GR2 car I drove seemed to turn in and stick better than last time I drove it. If I can get my brain up to speed, some good laps might be possible. Who knows, maybe I can run on my main and be competitive. That would be fun!

First stint at Suzuka was absolutely wild tonight... cars off the track everywhere, and it wouldn't be a GTSport video without getting a penalty for being in the path of a spinning car! Apologies to pipewrench477 for smashing into them at 130R on lap 1, was not expecting them to keep braking there...

you need to go flat out on 130R no lift. should go thru at 169/170 mph car will stick

Yeah I just give a quick lift to avoid ever coming near the astroturf on the outside, I'm okay with giving up a half a tenth there to never spin. Some laps I was a lot slower agreed but I'm on my 4th day of GT Sport with a wheel so give me a break :)

Usally lift if I’m on the last lap before tire change, can be a little scratchy at the point if you don’t nail it, but can be done

flat out all the time. unless of course someone slower in front of you ,you can even clip the left side curb or even get 2 wheels on the grass to give yourself more room on exit

So, since I started to use a wheel I also took a different approach to the races. If I get pushed of or make any huge mistakes by myself I sometimes just quit the race.

DR 1
That translates to some interesting lineups, DR A to D in the same field. It’s as if the game thinks I am sandbagging on purpose. And it’s not like my Q times at Suzuka is anything special

When I first started on a wheel, I ran every bit as hard as I did on the controller. But thankfully I learned that the wheel's feedback was trying to simulate tire scrub & I could learn to be a bit more consistent. Too bad you didn't start using the wheel on a week at Lago Maggiore. I snagged 5 wins that week.

Game is rigged. Had a flawless race and still lost SR. 80 down to 43

Crappy! Worst gut punch when your hit by someone coming back on the track + penalty + what happened before!

I know I’ve given away a lot of positions, looking for an opening to come back on the track safely..

but I also went off yesterday and thought I had time to get back on safely, and gave someone a penalty... 8(
So I can’t say to much :)

goodluck! Sorry SR can be unforgiving, and then take you to lobbies you should t be racing in! Stay strong!

I've been doing a bit of practicing for race C, and these Gr.2 cars are ridiculous. I've never driven them at Suzuka before and I'm having to almost completely re-learn the track compared to Gr.3 cars. It feels like you're braking way too late but the braver you are, the better. Going flat out through 130R seems utterly daft but it sticks to the track.

I usually avoid any Gr.2 races as they're usually dominated by the GTRs, which I can't get to grips with, and I struggle to even drive the Gr.3 version. I can't ignore Suzuka though as it's easily in my top 3 circuits in the world. I've just bought the RC F '16 and it's drives like a dream and seems to suit my style a lot better than the GTRs. I've managed to get a few laps in the mid 1:49s but I reckon I could maybe shave a second off if I'm braver with my braking points.

Edit: just did a 1:48.9. I’m pretty Happy with that after about an hour’s practice.

SR down does not equal penalty. There are many contacts that will lose you some SR without giving you a time penalty. The short clip you posted shows at least four potential SR down contacts, maybe more.

2nd part of post was referring to 2nd race. But ya, same thing, had no penalty but was some contact.

:banghead: I feel like a complete idiot. Ran 4 race Bs, lost a couple thousand DR, but got good SR. Last race, I had a 4th place finish in hand & drove over the sausage at turn 1 on the last lap. Fish-tailed & spun out. Finished 9th. Decided to get out of the bull ring & head East. Ran a race C, started 11th, finished 5th. DR up, SR up. 👍 Ran a second race C. Got a better QT, staring 5th, then 2 cars ducked out, so I start 3rd. Lap 1, lose a spot off the line, but the first 2 guys get together. One goes off, one gets a penalty. So, I'm following the leader to start lap 2. Get to the Degners & I accidently bumped the leader at Degner 2. Sorry. Take the lead & lead for half the race. I'm able to keep a 3+ second lead over 2nd. I try to feel out the driver & go one lap longer on my tires than I had planned to. Big mistake. Coming out of Degner 2, I spin it. Second place had pitted & was on new rubber & easily got by & pulled away. I pitted on that lap & lost another position. Finished 3rd. DR up, SR up. But so close to my first Gr. 2 win. :banghead:

The Gr2/Super GT cars really separate the talent, that’s for sure. You have to really work them hard, but they are rewarding. Definitely a different style to driving them compared to Gr3 cars, and anything else. I find them fun but challenging. And in the longer races, flat out exhausting!

You should avoid contact on both occasions. At first one you are not on the perfect racing line and the system may see you as forcing the other car outside. The second one is obvious contact and you didn't react.
I'm on 5th consecutive clean races at Tsukuba. Hope a clean race next to break my cr record.
Edit: Clean Races Level 2 Completed :)

man the 911 needs tyres, like driving on ice, so much understeer.

I am going ok at RBR, two podiums and a win, DR up to 38K, highest ever and gained 1700 in 3 races despite racing high B drivers.
Try BB 5 for 911. Yep BB rear 👍
My 911 time is 1:03.799 atm.
Car behaves just like the original, well 911, havent drive 993 irl. Only overall grip is not there, PD likes to nerf 911s for some reason.
Just small trailbrake to get the car rotating, then use throttle to control the rotation. Just like in the real one.

Well no racing for me yesterday or today as decided to have some movie nights and will get back to racing probably on Friday and through the weekend.

RBR and Suzuka - both favorites for me, but this week is a SR redemption drive for me. Here is my story -

Mount Panorama is a circuit I enjoy very much, so when it made an appearance last week I was thrilled. However, I just struggled on track (despite snagging some wins there in the past). While my DR did not suffer much, my SR took a massive beating. I had already dropped below 99 when the week started, but was still SR S. By the time I did my last race in Mount Panorama on Sunday, my SR had dropped to 40!! :banghead:.. Reason for that? Very simple. I was chasing cars up and down the mountain in every race, and in a few races the car in front spun (because of its own mistake). Now, since I was on their tails, I had no time to react, which meant I hit a spinning car which had not ghosted. This equated in penalties and SR drops. I kept being cautious and my distance, but then I took out a car which was entering the track after it had spun out. Another penalty!!

This week, I will still race hard, but I won't have unnecessary fights on track. I do well in Suzuka with the Gr2, so I have hopes to salvage my SR and make some DR gains. One tip for Suzuka with the GT-R - be careful to not touch the curbs on high speed. The GT-R is super sensitive and will spin out with easy provocation.

On RBR - The WRX is my go to car in the Gr4 group, but it's just not going to be able to compete with the RCZ in RBR. I tried to avoid using the RCZ for long, but it was inevitable that you have to use the RCZ at RBR. I am getting used to driving it, and it is a fun car to drive.

I rarely change the BB but when I have I always did like 1 or 2 to the front, I just barrel into the corners really narrow then stab the throttle till the arse comes round a bit and drive/power slide it out
My time is a 1:03.4 I think? I can't remember if I beat that yet but it's something like that

No it isnt:) ..

Beaten to the comment!

I improved my time at RBR but only just in the RCZ, lo and behold it seems I am quicker in the WRX/Evo so we shall see when I go racing again at the end of the week.

I should add that once I actually get the trophy for 91 wins in online racing on my main profile I will cease the online aspect of GT Sport altogether, I was gonna try and platinum this game 5 times over but yeah that's not gonna happen anymore. I only have 6 wins to go to 91 so I will get there.

Really hope that when the trophies for GT 7 are revealed there is not too many 'online' trophies !

What?

Ok I am not an alien but I was A+ at 70k until I raced from the back, it's not even that hard to get, not as hard as it should be anyway, even with the penalty system nonsense.

I've also never tampered with my launch PS4, I have an old (in TV terms) Sony TV that can only output 720p, I used an entry level wheel (T150 with T3PA pedals) on a wheel stand pro sat on a standard living room chair and there are many others on similar setups too, heck even some pad users are as quick or quicker than me. Sadly (or not) there isn't some secret shortcut to suddenly go seconds faster.

I also pay for PS Plus, wasn't aware you could get it for free.

Great, I even thought I was the only one playing without any glich on the console. Welcome to such a restricted community:cheers:

I have been playing GT since the beginning but I stopped after GT6 and I just restarted. I bought GT Sport this weekend and I did my first daily races yesterday with E/D drivers.

How long is it to progress through the rankings ?

First 5 races youll be E rated, then it all depends how fast you are... I think there is no problem to get drB in a few days... 10wins maybe 15, not even wins, podiums I would say
