Had a great race. Doing my best to conserve fuel and keep with the leaders.

Was going well, until I completely missed my break marker. Choices.. choices

Option A.. Plow in to the two cars ahead. Get a penalty and keep up with them.

Option B.. Mess up my race..

One of those days...

Second race today, power outage (power cycled)
Last race, disconnected due to data loss while waiting for the rest to finish
Next race, psn could not be reached while matchmaking.

Online gaming is great!

Make that #4, disconnected again. How does GT let people with 1400 ms lag drive around yet I get disconnected with all green bars...

#5, data loss, full bars, nothing wobbling, disconnected.

#6 psn server cannot be reached, failed matchmaking

Managed to claw my way back to SR S after a low of E at the beginning of the week. The racing is either cleaner or I'm more cautious around others now.
Used the Lexus all week at Dragon Tail, best result is a 2nd from mid pack, only died at the COD a few times, ha.
Same at Monza, best was a 2nd in the DBR9, I was using the Mustang but the DBR9 is faster and seems less thirsty on fuel.

Been steady with the RX-V. It definitely goes better starting with the RMs to end of Lap 5 or end of Lap 6. Full revs are actually more economical for me than, short shifting and/or adjusting fuel setting. A high of 3rd and finishing all 4th places(had started from 13th in one of those races). Except a 10th place, due to 4 second penalty by a numpty in a GTI.

Did one race with the Atenza and it's so easy. Not much short shifting to end of Lap 7, switch to RM, add 2.5 laps of fuel. Easy win(with help that 1st-3rd all got 1 second penalties on the last lap ;) ).

1 Race B this morning. Started 4th. Finished 3rd. Probably my best Daily Race this week. And last. Look forward to next weeks line up.

Overall raised DR this week. Struggled mid-week. Last 2 races turned it around.

Need to hit DR A soon and start my new account. Maxed out on upload space for decals.

You'd probably raise DR a lot more if you do more than 1 race per day.
When you do the same race several times in a row, your timing and traffic management gets a little sharper.

Been trying to recover my SR and first race got an SR down for someone side swiping me which brought me down to 80 SR, just clinging on to my S rating, and then had another race and was purely looking to recover my SR and sacrifice DR if necessary.

This race had it all, The Good, The Bad & The Ugly! I put what has to be the closest and fairest pass on a TT at the bottom of the hill, went 3 wide on the entry to the CoD and we all went through clean and I made the pass.
Then there was the bad as the guys behind me had a bit of argy-bargy before going up the hill, and then came the really ugly. The front group went into the chicane at the end of the straight, there was a bit of contact and one driver got a penalty and obviously went into meltdown mode and virtually attacked the other driver. The bashing went on for some time, and he eventually got what he deserved in the CoD as what looked like a lag spike put him in the wall!
All in all though, a great race for me, CRB and up 3 place!

Depends on the day. ;)

I improved a lot on DT this week. But still I feel slow in races. So yeah being a bit of a chicken. :O
Well, guess what? You've got company. When I started doing race B this week, I was totally at ease, and mostly having fun with it. By Friday morning, I realized that I wasn't gonna get a win from the back. I qualified, and......... fun was over!
The enjoyment of racing was replaced with anxiety. I think I managed 2 or 3 wins that day, but for the most part, I spent most of those races worrying about the fast people that were lined up behind me. :scared:
The most comfortable I feel in the Sport races, is when I don't qualify (zero expectations), or if I start up front and know I'm faster than everyone (rare).
I'm sure there are a lot of people who are a lot better than me, that feel nervous about entering the races.

It sounds like DR points are pretty important to you, so you probably won't want to do this, but try spending the first couple of days next week racing without qualifying. For one thing, you will get better at overtaking, because you'll be doing plenty of it, and also you won't be feeling the pressure.

You will probably lose some DR points, but so what? What has DR ever done to make your life better?
I guarantee that the average C & D drivers enjoy themselves way more than the average A+ driver. :odd:
*Incidentally, the more DR points you lose, the slower your competition will be when you do decide to qualify. 👍
You'll then regain your points quickly.

I can't help but think there's a better way this DR/SR thing could be handled. Perhaps if people didn't have to worry about DR resets than we would see more people racing and more evenly matched lobbies. It just sucks that all the time you've spent getting to a level where you feel you belong can be undone in a couple races through no fault of your own. All the fast drivers that don't care could bang with each other in lower SR lobbies. And the people that want clean racing wouldn't have to worry as much about them. I know getting reset results in a lot of easy wins on the way back, but it is more fun racing with people at your level even if you know you're not going to win.

I know we're not supposed to be naming and shaming in the forums, but I assume it's ok if we do it to ourselves.
So, I'm gonna nominate myself for Idiot of the Week. :dunce:

This was starting off to be a good race. I got by P1 when he brushed the wall on the chicane exit. He took the lead back with his Viper power.
I got his inside on the exit of the T1/T2 chicane. He relented, but P3 came out of nowhere to pass us both. I thought for sure he would end up in the grass, so I got on the throttle to undercut him. His Lexus gripped really well, so I ended up miscalculating by a few inches, and bumped him into the guard rail. He ricocheted back into me, which knocked me into the Viper, which knocked me back into the Lexus. Yeah, I took out the top 3 in one turn.

My car has all-wheel drive, so I can stay on the throttle in those situations. Had to hit the brakes though, because I needed to let those guys pass. I felt pretty bad. Neither of them won. Needless to say, I did plenty of apologizing afterwards. :guilty:

The guy in 4th must have thought Christmas came early when he saw that.

Your not the only one, funny only became an idiot yesterday and today, think it must be a weekend thing. :D

Well it was a good week and an avarage weekend only did Race B all week and totally enjoyed all the races, even the bumpy ones :D this is one of my favourite tracks and I managed to improve my Q time 2 times today so we'll chuffed, down on both SR & DR but I will make that up next week the main thing is it was fun.
I  to all you guys that can make cars fly around the track, just remember us meare mortals need a helping hand from time to time with your crashing :D
Good luck with the race's and remember it's just fun and games  :gtpflag:

I feel for you. I’ve had a lousy weekend on that front. Constant disconnections and all down to the PlayStation Network issues. Repeatedly checked my own network connection and running at 94% strength minimum, yet getting issues when running the checks of not being able to sign into PSN. Have managed to get 1 Monza and 3 Dragon Trails in but got disconnected 3 times at Monza tonight, once whilst waiting for the race to start and twice during the first 3 laps. Seriously irritated as tried the Gr. 3 458 for the first time and took over 2 seconds off my Qualifying time, which means it went from laughably appalling to just completely crap.

I’ve given up now.

Race A was good to me over the last month (minus one race in the Ferraris that lost me 13K DR). FINALLY, reached my goal. 91 Wins!!!!
I've definitely had more enjoyable clean races than not. Actually, quite a few more. SO, thanks to EVERY driver that I went up against who raced hard and clean. There are FAR more of you than the clowns that try and ruin it for everyone. Appreciate the race!

It seems to be more stable atm /knock on wood. I just started again.

And immediate SR loss at Seaside. It's impossible to take the corners the way they are meant to be taken. Hug the inside and hope not to get punted. On the racing line is asking for a dive bomb and you end up beside the track. Sunday afternoon lol. One more seaside then try Monza again. At least getting rammed off in T1 there isn't already red SR for the race like at Seaside.

My ratings this week

SR 40 now, another BS penalty and punted off at Seaside. Too dirty, try Monza. That will be cleaner LOL. Supra cup at 8 for SR

iRacing does driver and safety rating pretty close to perfectly imo. You start out with a rookie license and have to drive clean in X amount of races to advance to class D to be able to compete in other races, and your safety rating is an average of how many corners per incident point you get over many races. One bad crash doesn't instantly put you in SR jail, and two clean races doesn't instantly give a dirty driver an S rating.

The tiniest of contact and SR Down is a killer at Race B.

It's a non-contact sport but it's sometimes inevitable with close online racing. My first SR Down was the result of someone who fudged the chicane and I couldn't avoid touching their bumper. Next a car in front down instead of up-shifted out a corner and I didn't anticipate a sudden speed drop so another bumper clip. -20 SR just like that and demoted to SR A.

Usually you'd think this is the kind of person who rammed a few people off the track and what's more absurd is -20 SR is a similar loss for doing so. It doesn't add up. By contrast, I've made similar minute contact in ACC and it doesn't trigger an SA penalty for both drivers.

Another thing is it's hard to immediately identify a random's driving style; many people I've never raced with before and difficult to know/learn their 'habits' over the course of a short race. I'm in two minds over it, I like that the system is stricter but I wonder if it's overstretching boundaries. Maybe it's hard for PD to find a happy medium and punish intentional bump-drafting at the same time.

I put together a bunch of replay clips so I could watch them without having to go full replay race one to the next etc.
So much great racing and such idiocy! By me!
Seaside doesnt give too many dull ones.
The biggest thing is awareness and racecraft.
Racecraft, unless you learn about it and practice it you’ll never get it. So if you don’t race you’ll never get it.
I ran my highest points acct all week. It was fine. I never would have dropped from s if not for temporary insanity.
THE WORST THING I HATE IS WHEN RACINGS GOING GREAT EVERYONE GOING GREAT THEN A NEW GUY COMES IN WHO WILL NOT RESPECT A PERSONS CHOICE TO DEFEND THE INSIDE LINE EARLY!
THE GD TRACKS A QUARTER MILE WIDE FOR CRYIN OUT LOUD!
That’s my biggest pet peeve. Outside that I can deal with everything else.
I mean come on people your high A don’t try to punk me like that lol. I know and you know why I’m inside not on the racing line. Rant finished.

If you just race you’ll be whatever you are imo. You’re always going to end up where you end up. Learning to drive the cars faster and get laptimes is the first stage but racing is far tougher.
What works for me is for the most part I have a pattern of how I race a track. Areas I will look to overtake (STRAIGHTS mostly!!!)
and what areas to be cautious.
So if you kinda have that mapped out up front and you race a few times it’s like your decisions have already been made for almost any situation that comes up.
You can focus on everything else and when someone attacks you kind of already know what you’re gonna do, or you know how to approach a given corner or braking zone in race. Like maybe it’s not a good idea to compromise my line and get alongside this guy since coming out of this corner is a straight...even though I’m faster AT THIS MOMENT.
You learn to prioritize in terms of your level and what you can do. At say D-C-B most racers don’t really consider how important exit speed is onto a straight of any length and RELATE that in race to their own driving, and how they approach racing. The AI teaches you hold back and time a run while they are too scared to take the chicane of peril over 69 MPH.
The AI braking in that chicane are like poor racers compromising their lines in poor places.
I will say that the racing quality in my races was excellent overall but there will always be issues that’s racing.
This is jmo and all but you’ll never learn to survive in country if you stay at home.
Pick your line assertively and stick to it!
And for gods sake if you know you’re compromised ACCEPT IT and try to jump right on their tail!
Drawing it out by making it tough for the person whose got your inside puts everyone at risk if there are cars coming behind.
It’s like I hear people say oh man I don’t want to enter races at midpack, bad for my sr...Maybe, maybe it will be at first but maybe you will learn to be better and know how to race smart!
Racing Seaside around smart racers is a joy!
I’m going to miss it. I’m just gonna watch clips and have a beer and wonder two things-how the heck did I do that and how much coffee did I have?
Cheers guys

Most of the time I am starting midpack and doing well, due to the time on the track and some outstanding tips from others on here my racecraft is coming along nicely, Im getting to know when to go for it, when to back off and when to get out of the way, unfortunately not all drivers look for help and advice on how to improve thier own skills and do it the hard way or not at all, perhaps if they knew about forums like this one they may better themselves on the track. I only found this place by accident, when looking for other informatiin, and glad I did or I would have been one of the idiots learning the hard way. :boggled:

Perhaps it may be possible for one of our talanted members to come up with a decal for gt planet, if its seen on a few cars people might find the page, unless it's not allowed, I'm sure admin will let us know. :gtpflag:

I'm glad I get to drive Gr.1 again, my absolute favorite class, but I hate that it has to be at Nürburgring GP, my least favorite track in the whole game. The whole circuit is just constant anxiety, without a straight long enough to catch your breath on. There are whole segments where I feel like I can't even step on the gas without having to brake like hell half a second later.

Predicting the usual: R18 '16 dominates qualifying thanks to its great one-lap pace, but TS050 performs best in the actual race. 919 is probably not terribly useful here because its shtick of regenerating KERS at high gears is useless on a track with 2cm-long straights.

Also, I've done a little bit of testing, and please do not bring the LM55 into this race. It understeers like crazy, and the brakes are super duper trash - worse than the Group C cars.

I got my SR back to 99 and then did some Race B’s in the Viper, despite my rule of only doing FIA races on my main account. But I had to given the circumstances. I’m at almost 33K DR now. Just going to wait until the next FIA season to get back to my average.
