Pffft... the wife has buggered off to Manchester for a marathon, i have a whole weekend of GT sport and it starts with these? Am I the only person who hates the ring? The last event on driving missions is a 4 lap race around the hateful place and i've gold in every event up to that but just cant bring myself to tackle it... guess i'll have to learn Suzuka properly today instead. Last night's B race at Dragons Tail was a car crash, but so bloody compelling! i'm normally SR S but i got as low as C last night but kept going back for more as i love DT. I changed my greeting to "can the ham munchers behave themselves?" after being deliberately slammed into the wall 3 times by some cured meat loving chap and from then on EVERY person who rammed me off was a fellow Brit instead! just goes to show eh?

Im not really a fan either, but i do like te tt, might give it a go.

Just had some jackass in a Vette smash their way around Suzuka. Rammed into the back of me at full speed. Totally put me off driving more tonight. At least he got knocked down to SR B. Would’ve been banned if it was up to me.

It is by far the greatest challenge to conquer the ring, my gold there is still my biggest achievment in the game :)
And Race C today is some 18 minutes of racing on that track, your Q lap will take around 9 minutes and the mistakes you make on that lap adds up to many seconds in the end, and you need those seconds when you start the race.. standing still...!

It could not be much harder.. you can do it :)

As much as I love the Ring I guess I‘ll skip it today as I can‘t get myself to be friends with the TT and FF on the Ring is an absolute nightmare if it‘s any other car in the game than the Swift

I guess I‘ll do some more JTCC E30 Liveries then :dopey:

Standing start on race C again today ;). Just had a wee go as usual the first corners a crash fest, only a couple of drivers with no penalty by the end. Was surprised how many pitted was left scratching my head a little.
In last night's nation's cup race on Nürburgring GP, the start was buggy somehow. There was a small pileup during the auto-drive period actually. Maybe that's the reason for the standing starts at the moment.

If it's intentional, it's downright stupid with that first corner.

Did you have to save fuel or could you just blast through on Mapping 1? How were the front tires holding up?

I promised someone here I'd put this race up, so here you go! :D

And a bonus that requires a picture that will make sense when you watch the ending.

So that's why your name sounds familiar- you're on GTP! :gtpflag:
Had the pleasure of filling up your rear view mirror :D
Hey guys, would you give a little help ? Thought of doing some Dragon Trail races when I get my PS back ( that's when my kids go to bed  ). Which non-Veyron car would you recommend ? Did the qualifying with the Lambo, but I've been reading it's not really competitive. Is it the RC F as @Alpha Cipher mentioned ? What else ?
Haha, it seems like I'm the only one who thinks the RC F is good :dopey:

I had no tire or fuel issues on Race C a little wear on the fronts but nothing of concern, didn't need to touch the fuel map.
As for the RC-F i am enjoying it too my go to car in GR.3 at the moment.

I got bored of the car. How can anyone who classes themselves as a petrolhead get any enjoyment out of driving that understeering shed or any other FWD car for that matter? Utterly soulless, without joy and fun and just the worst engine note. Much like most real world Audis. Hateful car!

I did one Race C last night and it was absolutely horrible. I’m typically pretty good at the ovals and set a decent qualifying time which started me 10th or so. The whole race was a crash fest, drivers slamming into each other, etc. I made a few mistakes too, don’t get me wrong. By the end of the race, my SR went from 86 to 62. I’m so depressed, as I have hung my hat on maintaining my SR at S. I still need to work on my driving for sure, but having that S rating was very important to me. Today’s races aren’t that good for me, but I guess I’ll practice on Suzuka and try to get my SR back to S. I haven’t been SR B since day 20.

I don't have problem with TT Cup, but I don't like how people trying to pass on area which shouldn't to pass. Really, everybody need hold their ego and calculated everything.

Just horrible aren't they? I thought I would enter as I love the circuit but I got about half way and gave up. Not because I was making errors, it was just so bloody dull!
Yes! I'm also very impatient with the throttle so using FFs are a nightmare for me. Coasting 4 dayz on FFs :yuck:

That's just life on the 'Ring sadly :(

I'm having great races in Suzuka since early.
Managed a good time trial, but still trying to go under 2:00.000
Did 6 races so far, 5 wins and one 2nd place.

This second place was a weird one.
I'm leaving the video here.
I'm not blaming anybody here neither saying it's his/her or mine fault for the penalties, actually I think they were minor rubbing.
My question here is the penalty system and what it shows when we get it.
First it was at 0.50 seconds, on the first turn, I got one second and the message in game shows me orange SR and says he also got orange and 5 seconds penalty
I did try to slow down in the hairpin and in the last chicane on the first lap to see if the penalty was reduced but nothing happen.
He was on top of me and in my head he had 5 seconds and also could't rub it off.
At 3.38 he hits me again this time in the hairpin.
I get 1second and, according to the game message, both orange SR plus 4 seconds for him.

At this time I have 2 seconds penalty and he should have got 9seconds
I managed to get a 1.5 seconds ahead on the last laps, on the last section of lap 4 I try to slow down but the penalties don't come down, he glues on me again and I think to myself "I have two and he have 9, so what, I still win"
The race finishes and he has nothing, not even a red dot... we both finish with blue Sr but I got second due to the penalties.

I try to explain this in the after-race chat but all I got from that driver was an insult

Watching the replay I know I could avoid first hit, but so could he... Second hit I don't understand...
This penalty system is crazy, but if the game would tell me that I got orange Sr and the other driver had no penalties maybe I would have taken a different approach to the end

Very harsh, can't see you did anything wrong there. I never assume other drivers have penalties and try to get rid of them later in the race. You only really had two choices: serve the penalty then try to catch up or try to open over a 2 second lead by the end

It looks like that person is either A/S or B/S, while you are S/S. I wonder if that is a factor in these cases. Your console assumes that the other person should receive the penalty and shows that to you, but the penalty is not actually applied due to the other driver's DR.

I have no idea of that is the case, but it seems possible.

Edit: I should clarify that I think this is a "who-knows-what-when" issue. Your local console may not know the DR rating of the other drivers. If that is the case, then the best it can do is assume the other driver has the same DR rating as you, and displays things accordingly. Actual application of the penalties, however, take into account the actual DR ratings and in cases like this, may result in no penalties at all at the end. I'm just guessing about all this, though.

You can pass everywhere on the Ring, the other driver just has to accept that when you‘re faster it‘s a lot smarter to wave you through. This is especially important on the Ring as it otherwise will end in big carnage.

This is very true but sadly the average driver has the intelligence of a goldfish. They won't move, they would rather force you off, or early brake to get you to ram them. So many complaints that the game is broke, the penalty system sucks, blah blah blah. There is only one problem in this and any other game: 99% of people who use it.
