It's my first time with an auto and tbh I'm never going back. It can change gear much faster than a manual and isn't a pain in the arse in traffic :)

 some old granny is now driving around in a red jazz with gold wheels then :)

And a sightly different colour front fender as the car was dive bombed by someone at a roundabout and written off. We were so relieved when we saw the car back on the road months later

I didn’t! Hehe
Just had to say something...
but I would look awesome on a pink C63 AMG
:bowdown:I'm sure you'd look great  I'd even taken a beige AMG if meant owning a C63 :D

Edit: I got deported. I live on the moon now

So you're hanging out with the bunnies making mochi?

I drive a car which is almost as equally hated in GT Sport as the Beetle though

Hated? Really? I kinda dig the punch bug. The pops and bangs when you down shift remind me of the "back firing system" of the Evos from Initial D . I find it kinda fun to drive, did ok for me on the N24. Still prefer the blackbird tho.

That m4 is hated right?

Again? Really? I guess I am good at picking unpopular cars to race . No real pull around GTS's Bathurst, but I was doing ok with it at Dragon Trail.

Just fast enough to stay ahead compared to the field. I do think these Gr.2 races that involves fuel saving helps me push the car more by using a lower power setting.

I haven’t tried using a lower fuel mix. I short shift like crazy.

With the penalty system as it is, you can’t race on track, you need to do it in the pits. Every time someone tried to overtake me, they mess it up, hit me, I’d get a 1s penalty and it ruined my strategy as I had to stop on track to kill that 1s. I miss the old days when we could actually have fun. Yes the crazies would escape penalties but at least there was an opportunity to move up the field if you had the pace and patience to do it.

It seems that I've hit a good time this morning. Still 7th on the EU board for race A and I'm at work since 12pm. I hope that aliens won't show up too much this afternoon :D

 I love it :) had two Golfs before (mk 4 1.6 match and mk5 gt sport tdi 170) so wanted something different, but not too different, and faster :)

I’m a DSG convert too and a VW fanatic! Had all the golfs going! all these manual drivers yet to learn it’s a far superior gearbox!

Wooooo, that's actually your car in your pic? Nice :)

Punch bag?

And yeah... because early days it was overpowered (like the Megane)... also no one likes FF cars.

I get the little pops going up and down, due to the DSG :D nowhere near as fast as @Nick Cannella's car but 210PS is enough for me

And what's "the blackbird"? I don't get your nicknames!!!

Yes! Good man. What are you driving currently?

I was really surprised with the DSG... I always said I would never drive a manual but it really is different class, it's so fast and responsive... and using the flappy paddles is ridiculously satisfying :)

Mk7 golf Gti Clubsport

Yes using manual paddles is great fun, about as versatile as gearboxes get, can be lazy or as active as you like!

Punch bag?

You've never heard of the game "punch bug"? Played on road trips, you and the person next to you try to be the first to spot a VW bug. The first to see one shouts "PUNCH BUG!" and hits the arm of the person next to them .

Erm.... erm... FF? No such creature in Gr3. :p the Beetle in GTS is FR 👍.

Comes from "Wangan Midnight". They refer to the black 911 in said title as the black bird. Since all my cars in sport mode sport a matt black livery.... ;)

Any tips for race C, finally done with B had 1 win and gained some DR however my SR is still only C. What is a good car, settings etc? Race strategy? Just gone with the Meta car.
Edit: Went ok started 7th finished 4th and gained 29 manner points not too bad. Back at B/B after yesterdays D/E reset.

I love Camero's too... she's got a healthy appetite... :).

Haha... just kidding... 376hp at the wheels, 3000lbs 306cu.in. 8000 rpm screamer... (4bolt, forged, solids, shafts etc... stock heads! 4.56's)
It does Jump 'mild' Camero's hard at the track... but, I have nothing for them on street/from a roll... or stopping, or turning... :).
Nice to see some other muscle cars.

Oh boy, Lago and Gr.1...

I managed to get slammed into 4 penalties in row, amounting to 7s for literally just driving.. First lap all I was doing was looking at my radar and minimap so I can avoid rockets, as you can see in the video below, they weren't lacking.. :(
Did one race, lost 9 sr in 1 lap.:ouch:
I quit for today!

Penalty system and Blue Moon in a nutshell:

Whilst leading, guy behind me runs me wide at last corner towards barrier, I get a penalty. Chase for the lead again on last lap, guy in 2nd loses control and wobbles mid-corner, I'm in braking zone, I get a 4 sec penalty for barely touching him.
Guy who hit me in first place wins the race, I have to finish 6th.
So after building up my DR to try and get it back to 75000, I lose it all again.
The penalty system is completely unfair and totally broken.

Whats everyone's strategy for this track? Even if your quicker than your opponents its almost impossible to get away due to drafting. You need like a 1+ second gap to lose the drafting effect.

I've tried a few but pitting one lap early seems to help a bit, going for the undercut.

Its the ol 'the higher rank you are, the more 🤬 you get'. I had no problems at B rank having 4 clean races.

I normally don't race in dailies now, but because of other commitments, I can't race every day. If it was a real circuit or Yamagiwa today, I would've easily raised DR. Unfortunately, the day in which I'm available this week, Blue Moon is selected.

8min of qualifing on blue moon. Got pole and a win with blue s on the first race. Can only go downhill from here I suppose

I have a pretty fast qualifying time with the Gr.1 Mazda but it starts out so slowly that it almost makes no difference.

Before I even reach the first turn, there is at least one or two Porches passing me up and taking my pole position.

This is a problem I've been experiencing in every Gr.1 race I enter into, regardless of the track.

They need to figure out a way to fix this because it's just not fair.

The hybrids have phenomenal acceleration, but are relatively lacking in the turns. The Bug VGT and LM55 should be able to catch them up there
Not to mention their permanent 4WD system

I realize that, but passing someone after everyone has gotten up to speed is way more difficult than flying by someone at the start of the race. They basically get a free pass in the first few seconds of the race, totally negating my qualifying time. And then I have to work ten times as hard to get my position back. That just isn't fair.

Blue Moon hated me today, I usuelly excel on ovals, purely because there's less corners = less chance of failure

one thing that bugs me is that oval racing needs a totally different mindset from circuit racing, you actually need to wait behind cars a lot more rather than just throw yourself up the inside. slipstream is everything in setting up a pass, but that will only get you so far and you need to work to actually get the pass, here's a rant I had earlier;

one race I was pole so defended very hard holding as far left as I could on the straights, one clever *beep* decided he would get my slipstream out of T1 which is fair enough, then while I'm sat in lane 1 hard on the left, he decides he's going to go off track to make the pass, we get to turn two and I am not moving, I'm on the track and have my nose ahead, my racing line, he should really have backed off, sat behind me and tried to chuck one up the inside to T3, instead he decides to scandi flick into me and wipe me out because I wouldn't move over for him. I do a 360, gain god only knows how much penalty and he carries on scott free. to add insult after the race he calls me out and reports me!

Now fair enough my defending has been aggressive, but I have never once purposefully moved into a dangerous position or divebombed/pushed/rammed. if I'm infront I will use all the track but I don't weave around, I come off the corner and slowly move as far left as I can and hold my line there. just coz you are in my slipstream and gain a few mph on me does NOT give you the right to act like a total *beep* and think you can force me off the road, your task is to get round me in a clean and safe manner and if you can't do it back off and try again.

/rant

I'm no angel, but if you are on track and find yourself ahead of me/blocking my line, I will give you space. If your being an idiot I'll squeeze you and force an error but I would never ever ram someone because I feel entitled.

I raced Blue Moon today.

My race was over in less than 10 seconds. Started 6th, I think. I get full-on punted to the wall even before the 1st turn then hit from behind by multiple cars. Reappear 20 seconds behind the last car on a 40 second track/a few seconds in front being lapped. So I quit. Fun.
