Well, the penalties aren't to do with contact, but just track limits, so it doesn't affect anything to do with ruining other people's races.

They are not only incredibly strict in places they don't need to be, but also inconsistant in certain areas. In some places, running wide doesn't get penalties. Other times, just having half the car on the kerb gives you 1.5s penalty, even if you lose time.

I'd almost prefer it to be consistently strict then so inconsistent and poorly done

That is what i mean yes. Far to strict..... my highest was 18sec for cutting or when you brake to late and get a big panalty.....

Im amazed how close to real gr1 track record the top guys are. Currently Zkippe@ 3:17.900..
Got that time before going to racing and later improved by 0.7 on a one lapper between two races :D Went too deep in Arnage so I could see a 3:16.7 or so easily, but that 3:16 flat is just nuts.

Like lemans but the panaltys are a bit to much.
The penalties are off the charts. In my six or so races I must've picked up 2 minutes worth of penalties while the time I gained on track from those 'cuts' was maybe one second in total. I mean I like strict track limits but the amount of penalty for 1mm over the threshold was insane. My best was 25 seconds for a cut (that was maybe worth 0.1 seconds) on the fast righthander that exits to Mulsanne.

Either way I had fun even though the GT-R LM was a bit uncompetitive against the newer hybrids despite its great one lap pace. This is the only car class that makes sense on La Sarthe so I hope they repeat the event at some point, instead of using Gr.3 for example.

And yet, Le Mans is a race of 4 classes, not just one class of 4 cars :p. I'm looking forward to Gr3 on La Sarthe. We can't all be elitist aliens .

Gotta join the choir about the de la Sarthe track limit penalties. Finding them ludicrous...

The Penalty system is absolutely on point and running perfectly. 5 aggressive clean laps! Zero penalties

Nothing is wrong with the penalty system! Gr.1 is absolutely phenomenal. This is what GTS is all about. The penalty system is on point as well as the matchmaking! Race clean Race hard and enjoy the rush:gtpflag:

It really isn't, I'm a fan of strict penalties but I picked up a 10 second penalty on the first chicane without even touching the apex :lol::lol: Still loved GR1 at Le man's though

I'm a player that sticks to the slower cars and even I'm hooked on Gr.1. The Nissan just feels alive. Like it moves around on its tyres. I feel as though I can feel the car underneathe me.

Had the best racing I have ever had in GTS in the Gr. 1 at Le Mans last night. It was pretty clean and pretty fair, a couple of idiots but that's a given. There were a few penalties I got that I had no idea why so think track limits need adjusting a little.

You must be the first person who says this (with Kaz maybe) :odd:
Or was it sarcasm? Idk

I don't have a problem with the penalties and I've no problem with track limits being applied but they should be clear.

The delayed penalty pop up makes it a little hard to work out exactly where the track limits are but I think the corner cutting penalty areas appear to start before the corner and don't end until after the corner. And yes they appear to be strict. The straights dont seem to have track limit penalties as such, since unnecessary. If you're too wide on the straight before going into a corner you appear to get a penalty for corner cutting.

Or I'm completely wrong and the penalties are randomly assigned depending on the orientation of the planets when you hit (or miss) the apex.

Multiclass could work. Staggeft star thd classes. Just like in Super GT. Then, continue to ghost lapped traffic.

Gr. 1/Gr.3, Gr. 3/Gr.4, Gr. 2/Gr.3

I'm sure d it could work for Daily races. Race time could be the factor, but once the higher class finishes, base finish time on the slower class 1st Placed finisher.

Steady on mate! There's probably children reading this forum .

That's a lot of Meganes... and penalties! I'll probably go with the rexy, it was what I got the best time in last time. How's the new controller working?
The GT-R is excellent. Just does not have the top speed. However, I wasn't left in the dust once I got the tow. I just went in too hot on the last lap into Conrod exited on the grass. I was 6th catching up to the Megane in 5th. I served my 5 second penalty(which I hot while trying to draft a Megane with the red dunce cap, he/she then decides to serve the penalty by putting the hazards in and slowing, I bumped him and got the penalty) after the pit stop.

Don't know if the cars ahead pitted.

That's what it's looking like.

Good to see you! I was in that race with you (and another one later on).

If you think the GT-R doesn't have any top end speed, then wait until you try the Megane Trophy '11 that I was driving. It's probably the slowest Gr 4 car down the straight that I've driven. I was losing probably 0.75 seconds to the other Megane's down conrod straight alone and was even losing time to them when in the slipstream! However, it corners like a dream and is very easy on the tyres; you don't need to change them and you can do a no pitstop race. However you're a sitting duck if you don't fuel save in the properly.

I had a try in the Megane Trophy '11 and managed to do a one stop, the fuel was fairly marginal at the end but the tires where fine had to concede 3rd at the end. Still 4th ain't too bad for me. Been having a few bashes at race A getting a few top 5 places looking to get a win though….

Le mans was awesome. I tried the 3 new not GR.1 cars and settled on the R92CP as I didn't have to worry about fuel management with that one. The other two were still flying by 919's on the straight in fuel map 2 though.

It seems the shortcut penalties are calculated based on whether you gained any time advantage, however small, hence the delayed popup. First time I jumped in in the morning I was pretty sloppy and didn't get any shortcut penalties. Yet as I started getting faster at night I picked a few up where I could previously just drive through. Keeping two wheels inside the white line is always fine anyway, easy to do when you have the road to yourself, a bit harder when 919's are clogging up the straight forcing you into an awkward corner entry.

My best result was second place, penalty free, for 1372 DR gain for that race. Unfortunately in another race I got disconnected and lost 1318 DR. Hard to come by, easily lost. The rest of my races went well too so still up 2K in the end. I updated my quali time to 3:26 between races and still had more left to improve but couldn't stay up too late. I hope GR.1 Le Mans comes back soon!

Oh cool. You'll see me in the pink GT-R. And yes, I actually thought the Trophy drivers were in fuel conservation. No wonder they were all at the top. That extra downforce is a killer though, but it'll probably be the car to have at Suzuki tomorrow.
How's the new controller working?
Perfect!
