Maybe you need one of those "Elderly Driver" decals on your car ;)?
Might just make my race suit and helmet Hi-vise.

Well, I don't make this stuff up. I got caught out at T1. I put my hand up for sleeping, but stay til the end if you dare.

For the BRZ in race A has anyone got any setup tips regards brake balance and traction, also I know it probably a NO but does ASM help? Had a quick blast and found it a bit of a handful.

I can run 2.37.7 with brake balance at 0, ASM strong. Not even sure if that helps or not lol

Race 1 for me tonight, NGP. I tried pre qualify with the Viper, but just couldn't put a lap together that felt right. After 6 laps I decided to try another car. I was able to beat my best time with the Viper after 2 laps with the NSX. Another couple of laps and I'd shaved 3s off what I could do with the Viper. That got me P5 in a grid of mixed DR/B and C instead of DR/C and D. That had me nervous :nervous:.

I got bashed around on T1 as expected with no penalties and was holding my own, till I got to the second lap where I was stuck in between 2 cars going around one of the tighter bends. The car on the outside ended up in the sand so I got a 5s penalty and an orange S. I picked up a second orange S, the upshot being I finished P10 and 13 SR down :scared:.

So SR and DR took a hit, but still hanging in there on my visit to DR/C.

Well just had the best race of my GTSport career. 9th to 1st in just 4 laps. Everyone behaved themselves at the ring GP (no incidents at the first corner  ). Shouted a Yessss at the end. Not ashamed

Dirty Driver
This is more and more frustrating !! I think GT SPORT test for GT7 !

Full throttle. Car just pulls away easily.

I got a better start with your suggestion, but I still don't understand if I'm supposed to have full throttle while the game gives you the count down with NO brake applied (i.e. no brake at all) or if I have my brake applied and release the brake under full throttle when the count down completes. That is the process I'm using and I seem to get a late start every time.
So in effect, I use a start sequence that you would use in real life. Brake applied and reach optimal RPM and then release.

TC1 and Wide open throttle with no brake while the countdown happens. When the race starts watch your tachometer, the Rpm will decrease at first then start climbing. Immediately after the the RPM starts climbing switch TCS back to 0 and keep thrttle wide open. I made 1-2 positions every start using this method.

Does Race A have any bugs with cars appearing in the wrong order during the startup.

I have a video saved to upload after work but the quick race I did before my shift I ended up qualifying 9th but 12th place
was placed between me and 7th place and then after the first lap the whole race seemed to lag out and suddenly I was
in last place.

Anyone else had a bug experience or was it possibly just my connection?

Had some fun with Bathurst Race C. I know its a weak track of mine and my previous best was 2:03:217. I did a few quali laps, didn't improve, so I downloaded a top 10 replay. For once, I could see how I was losing a lot of time in S2 and with a bit more practice got this down to 2:02:159. Consistently in the 2:02s. Did a few races, no wins, but some nice battles. The optimal time was 2:01 something, so I'll leave that as something to aim for the next time GR3 on Bathurst pops up. 2:00s are still a way off for me but had fun anyway.

Pardon me, as I'm new here, but can someone explain to me, in layman's terms, exactly how DR works?
TL;DR DR is a ranking system that lets you know how fast you are compared to the other drivers
DR is a ranking system that you can use as a basis to know how fast you are compared to other drivers. An E rating means you haven't played enough Sport mode yet. Get 5 races in and you'll be promoted to D, the lowest rank. As you get better you go up through the ranks C, B, A, and finally, A+. However, you cannot always rank up, as you might hit a certain skill cap where the drivers you are matched against are always faster than you. That is called having a plateau, and in a plateau you'll find that your race results would keep your DR in roughly the same place. If you hit a plateau, it means you've reached the DR ranking that your skill level is capable of :)
You can improve though, since in a plateau you'll be constantly matched with faster players, there's lots of opportunities to learn

Your DR rating goes hand-in-hand with your SR rating. SR is basically how clean and well-mannered you drive. The ranking goes from E all the way to A, and then S (although you start with SR B). You cannot progress through your DR rating if your SR rating is too low. If your DR is high enough, and your SR rating gets low enough, you'll get a DR reset. A DR reset means that the game resets you to a lower DR rating because you lost too much SR. As a rule of thumb, getting to SR S as fast as possible is one of your primary goals, as the racing is cleanest in that ranking, and you have the lowest chances of getting a reset

its a point exchange system
everytime you finish ahead of someone you get points from them
everytime you finish behind of someone you give points to them
the number points exchanged between two player depends on their DR difference (you get more DR from beating better players and conversely you lose more DR to worse players)

Had a similar bug the other day in the GR2 race at Brands. 1st started in the pits, and I was stuck in auto drive until half way around the first lap. Went from starting 3rd to last before I was given control. The only consolation was that it was fun race back to 9th. Was a weird race.

So... Mount Prangadrama. My qualifying time didn't amount to a hill of beans. P16 and that's only because two of the racers didn't qualify. So here's me, a DR/D driver making a visit to DR/C, the match fixing flashes up, and I'm just dumbstruck  . A couple of aliens, a pseudo alien, and the rest DR/B with the exception of me and another DR/C.

T1 was drama. I had some polite drivers, and some bullies. Got through the mess and away I went, struggling just to keep on the track. I tried for the most part to stay out of every bodies way, feeling like bait in a shark tank :scared:. The track was slippy compared to qualifying. I made up places and lost them again. The RSR definitely seemed to hold it's own or better on the straits. I kept getting along side people and slightly ahead, but always on the outside, so I braked early and ducked in behind rather than fight for track space. I got royally rear ended at one stage coming up to Forest Elbow and slammed into the wall. Finished where I started.

SR unchanged on 86, DR dropped predictably, but I still have some to spend before returning to my natural home. Another day in DR/C :D.

Thanks, this is much clearer. And since I always seem to be finishing in the bottom half (mainly because I can't get a good starting position and I have to deal with all the carnage and am basically run off the road by Turn 2), would explain why I am literally stuck at the same ranking.

I found out this morning in race C (Bathurst) that you don't get a penalty for wrecking when entering the pits and getting passed by the 3 cars pitting behind you.

Just some useful knowledge I thought you guys might like to have.

The better you qualify the better chance you have at increasing your DR. I found that in DRB you need to be within 2 seconds of the TOP 10 times to have a top half grid start, for DR S/A its closer to 1sec depending on the track.

I've been trying to qualify better. Even tried things like taking the TCS setting down to off or 1 (but with a controller, really hard to not use too much throttle and spin out) to get a little faster. Maybe when I get a wheel and pedals I can shave off a second or 2 and that will help.

Sounds like I had the same bug as 12th place showed as started in the pits, will see if I have it happen again later.

Keep working at it. Im a controller user too and I can get within a second of the TOP10 consistently. Take TCS off for hotlapping (you only need one good lap) it will also teach you to drive without it which is immensely useful.

Have you tried motion steering? It took me about 1 hour to get used to it when i first switched and i havent looked back since. It is the closest thing to a wheel without the wheel. It'll smooth you out in corners and help consistency.

Also one other thing that helps is getting at least 10-20 laps in before my first race which helps my race consistency/pace because im on autopilot by that point and dont have to think through every brake point. Once you free your mind from the automatic tasks, racing can be your minds focus.

That's ridiculous. It clearly wasn't his fault. The car behind was braking too late. Period.

No, it's not "period". There were two incidences. The dive bomb and then the collision after the dive bomb, you can't just ignore the second instance.

I stated that it was clearly the other driver's "fault" but fault isn't the only issue at discussion. When the OP turned in, both cars were already side by side. After this point, he is literally turning in and ramming the other car.

If tracking the distance of a car behind you while approaching a braking point is too much for you, then I can understand why you would think that foreseeing this accident is impossible. However, it's not. The Bugatti poked his nose in and backed off twice before reaching the hairpin and it was blatantly obvious that he was going to cut to the inside because that's what people do there when you try to run a basic apex line. You don't have to be a psychic to know that he was going to try and barge pass on the hairpin. At that point your choices are to run a slow defensive inside line, run a late apex line and regain position on the straight, or run a normal line entering two wide over the apex and cut off his exit line to beat him on the straight.

Running a normal line when you have a Bugatti on your heels and then turning in like he doesn't exist is just going to get you a penalty every time. Sure, you can walk away and know that the Bugatti caused the incident but that doesn't help your position or SR rating.

I've been doing motion steering since day 1. I think I just maybe a little too conservative around certain corners. So far I can drive pretty well with TCS at 1 (I used to always have it on 3). Depends on the car though. Group 2 I constantly spin without it on.

Welcome to my world :dopey:. I've been in 250 races. I've won one. I'm on day 113, and 31 out of the first 52 days was DR 1 (that's as low as you can go). 103 of those 113 days at DR/D. You have to put some time in to get anywhere. Time to get familiar with the tracks, time put in to qualifying, and time put in to racing and learning to deal with cars driven by unpredictable people.

I do my best on tracks I'm most familiar with. I didn't start to get my head above water till i started spending more time qualifying. Don't hit the enter race button and take what ever time you have before the race starts. Do the time trial next to the race entry and put in some laps. Try different cars till you find the one that suits your driving style best. 👍
