22:30 Mixed B/S C/S room, starting 4th of 16 behind a GT-R... 2:13.3 on pole. It looks to be a boring race, the Meganes and GT-R are slowish on the mountain yet accelerate away on Conrod. However in lap 2 the GT-R lag hits an early braking Megane down the chase which opens the door for me to pass the GT-R. The Megane makes the corner with tons of room to spare and accelerates away. The GT-R keeps pressure on me but falls behind in the esses. I finish 3rd with clean race bonus, +5 SR +800 DR.

22;50 Full B/S room, starting 4th of 15 behind the same GT-R. 2:13.3 on pole, Megane and TT Cup up front. I'm pretty much defending 4th place all race from a pushy Megane. He eventually bump passes me at the bottom of the chase, I should have stuck to the left edge, didn't think he would actually dive. He bumps me wide, but he doesn't get a penalty. With speed lost another Megane squeezes through after Murrays with his acceleration. I finish 6th with clean race bonus, bump passer reported, SR 99, +200 DR.

23:10 B/S room with one C/S, starting 2nd of 13, 2:13.3 Megane on pole. It starts of boring again, then a Megane accelerates up my outside into Murrays in lap 2. I give up the position to avoid him. The TT cup behind him punts me into the wall at Quarry bend, then slows to give me the position back / serve the penalty. I finish 3rd with another clean race bonus, TT cup apologized, accepted, no worries. SR 99 +600 DR.

23:30 A+/S to B/S room, starting 8th of 15, 2:12.19 on pole. It's all TT cups in front of me, Meganes behind me. Lap 1 a TT cup gets in trouble, I slow down to avoid and get rammed by a Megane behind me, he doesn't pass. The Megane tries to overtake me in the chase yet I stay left down the hill and out brake him. Then he dives on me in Hell corner forcing me to go wide which lets another Megane through. A 3rd Megane tries to over take down the chase, denied again. This one dives on me as well in Hell corner, bumping my inside rear bumper twice. I manage to keep the car under control and another Megane squeeze by. The megane that bump passed me messes up Griffins mount so I pass him. The other Megane that squeezed by messes up Skyline, I pass him before the esses yet he touches my inside rear bumper anyway, SR Down. He tries to pass again in the chase and Murrays with more contact yet I get the better exit. I finish 9th, neutral SR, +200 DR to an exact 20,000 DR.

23:50 A+/S to B/S starting 6th of 14, 2:12.7 on pole. The same Megane tries to pass me again down the chase, this time he bumps me in the slight right, I get SR Down. I let him go ahead or he'll just bump me in Hell again. Rest is a boring race. I finish 5th as two Meganes take each other out. Blue S, +876 DR.

One more to see if there's any excitement to be had with qualifying, so far it's mainly getting bumped by Meganes.

00:10 Mixed A/S mostly B/S room, starting 4th of 13. 2:12.6 on pole. Utterly boring race yet I do beat my qualifying time with a 2:14.142 lap. Finish 4th, 1.25 sec behind 3rd, 3.5 sec before 5th. Clean race bonus +600 DR.

Not qualifying is definitely more fun. Hectic lap 1, overtaking in lap 2, clean tight battles in lap 3. Qualifying is avoid getting bumped in lap 1, badgered by Meganes or drive in a boring procession. I'll be on Sarthe tomorrow, starting from the back!

Qualifying is good for DR though, up about 7K tonight. It's also easier to get the clean race bonus.

Why doesn't PD provide different colours in "the same car" races??? It would be possible to watch a replay with different coloured cars ....

Oh and also, something important for me - I wanted to watch the Adam Suswillo how to drive GTS instruction tutes, but I cannot find any ... can someone help with a link? Or what search I should try? I tried U-tube and Facebook but no luck ...

Edit - avoiding getting punished for making two posts in a row ...

I had two races at Mt Panorama/Bathurst
- I took your advise Hoof Arted -
driving the Renault Megane, against Megane A+/A,Bs including (me) and some C drivers, all SR "S". My qualifying time is a very high 1:1392 so really a 1:14 flat. Two races, came 6th in both. 13 seconds behind the winner though, but worse, 3.3 seconds behind the car in front, because he was faster and maybe, he was able to draft. I defended for a bit and lost contact with the car in front ... then got a way and just cruised around. 2nd race much the same but I discovered that I am loosing 3/10ths in between the "S"s and Skyline.

The way I take the corner in the Megane after Sulman Park (the Megane in front had sparks coming off his right side at the exit from Sulman Park onto McPhillarmy Park but it did not slow him down (and he'd done the same after the Cutting sparking his right side and then after that left turn his next right he sparking his left side) - anyway I've exited Sulman Park and cruise over near the nice view on the right there along McPhillarmy Park with all its lovely sand ... so I get over to the left but the view is obscured because of the white wall on the left - OK the Megane in front scrapes that too on his left ... I am just on the bitumen/black top ... so I then go right - after McPhillarmy Park - with the left tyres now leaving the bitumen and driving over some green concrete that marks the edge of the proper track ... I am now at Skyline with corners 12 & 13 next, so I then line up that piece of concrete fence off on the left and I'll have to turn left and try to cut that bit of corner and turn right for what is corner 13 called the Ss .... but the Megane in front, he seems to go right along the right of the track, and then sweeps around the corners that I'll aim for when I cut left over that corner ... he gains 0.3 seconds there. I have only driven rear drive cars here and normally I can flick the tail and sort of cut that left corner 12's kink - but maybe these front drive cars are quite different. And then, from 0.5 second behind, and he carried more speed too - its 0.8 and he's still moving away - I've then lost his draft and then really, its all over for me.

My best time - all by myself - was only 1:14.6, and the winner did a 1:12.6. In the Megane. Phew ... I need to improve. These cars - going a bit faster is clawing up a steep rocky incline scraping away with your bare hands - its not easy for me to go fast enough.

I enjoyed the drive though, and some lovely countryside despite the early morning sunshine which actually annoys me ...

I'd like to get to "A" but obviously I am just not fast enough, and in fact, don't know how to go quicker. . In two races my SR went up 150, and then 15 I think ...

That’s all she wrote, I’m done for the day. 25 races total, no qually laps at all, SR -65 lol, DR +6,603, best finish was 2nd with 2 3rds and best gain was +12 positions, twice. It was a rough, but good day at the back of the pack. Let’s see what the new races bring tomorrow. :)

After a 2 weeks break I finally managed to do some races at Bathurst last night. I really love that track so I'm happy I haven't missed it completely. But obviously the boys and girls seized their times practicing making my 2:14,1 worth only some places in the back of the pack. In 5 races I gained exactly one position from a guy screwing up at Forest Elbow, in the other ones I defended my bad position. But all in all this led to a1.5k dr drop. One thing I don't understand is, in pre race qualifying I immediately run 2:14,xxx but in races my best is 2:16,xxx, even without any car around me. Jumping directly into quali for the next race I drive 2:14 again. Must be something undiscovered in my head, perhaps the GT sport version of the helper syndrome...

I am slower too but I think those that go faster often have a car close in front. And if there is a car close in front, I am more likely to take risks IMO and push hard.

If I have a gap in front of me and the guy in front of me close to his/her car in front and is drafting the car that car, and the guy out qualified me - what chance do I have of catching him? No chance unless he tangles with the car he's drafting ... I tend then to consider how far the fellow behind me is, and where I might be in danger from him. So, I go defensive here and there, and that slows me down further. Plus the guy behind gets more of a tow if he is close. Iso i have be more defensive - like at The Cutting - I like to come in wide from the right of the track there, but if there's car close behind, he might get inside me and then I could be bumped into the right wall - so I tend to keep left there to prevent a pass and that slows me down further. Plus in races the last thing I want to do is drive into a wall or the sand somewhere - so I am naturally slower. Unless I reckon I can get the car in front. IMO that's what changes the game. And of course if you've raced the track a heap, you gain confidence and are prepared to push it.

So what are the META cars for this week's races? I only have the R18 '16 for Gr.1. For Gr.3, I have the Volkswagen GTI VGT, Ford GT, AMG GT, M6, V12 Vantage, Mustang and 4C as far as I remember. My bank balance is 2 million, which can be split into one Gr.1 car (R92CP? 919? TS050?) and two Gr.3 cars (911 RSR? Supra?).

Just tried 3 race C's Gr1 at Le Mans. Early days, but no-pitstop won all 3 races. For the first race I was going to try the FWD Nismo thing, but it was painfully slow, esp down the straight. Ended up using the Toyota TS030, front Soft, rear Med with no pitstop. Qualified 4th I think and finished 2nd behind a fast Kiwi in an R18 on softs (no stop).

Second race tried the Tomahawk on softs. Started P2 behind the same R18 (on Med this time). Briefly took the lead on lap 3/4 but span at Dunlop. My softs were dying, and were dead at the end.

Third race used the Tomahawk again, but on mediums. Started P2 (P1 qualified 5 sec faster in the R92CP!). Inherited the lead when the R92CP made a mistake and stayed there for the remainder of the race. With the Tomahawk on mediums, you can pretty much push the whole race. The R92CP pitted lap 3 on mediums, changed to softs, and recovered to 2nd. The Gr.C have pace, but tyre wear is terrible.

Kiwi 1-2-3. Don't see that very often!

Happy new year everyone!

Mustang is fast, but doesn't appear to have the best handling or braking(just seemed that way following a 3rd place Mustang).
Everyone are trying all the cars. Huracan is fast without a tow. Very sketchy in the esses.
Jaguar is fast and stable.
448 was stable, but average speed(needs a tow).
I'm doing the C7 this race. We'll see.

Up early ugh. I gave Tokyo a try at 5:10, no quali, one lap practice. I got to 6th, however got a 3 sec penalty for overtaking under a yellow flag... It was at the hairpin at the pit stop, one of those where you don't even know if you are overtaking with a whole bunch going through the corner together, nor who was involved in the collision. Then another 5 sec from a car hitting me from behind and then the wall. Then another SR Down from someone bumping me at the silly chicane. Luckily only -1 SR. It's purdy at night in HDR yet I'm off to Sarthe.

For Daily B Race (Gr. 3), the Ford GT feels fantastic to drive on that track. I currently have a 1:32.5 with that car. Right now, it also looks like the Huracan, Beetle (I think), and the GR Supra Concept are also great cars for this week's B race.

Sarthe is bad for SR again. I'm one of 3 finishing without penalties yet I got hit from behind so much I still lost 3 SR. It's a no stop race at your own risk. The R92CP eats tires so after doing a one stop on softs I tried a no stop on hards. That works, however continuous bumping from behind ensues. The road is wide enough to not drive into my back all the time, annoying.

The R92CP has been winning the races but has one fatal flaw. The rev limiter stops it at 380 kph, making it impossible to clear another R92CP on the straight with a draft pass. And you need to lay off the gas a bit not to drop back to 360 kph. It tops out at 377 without drafting, that extra 2 kph to draft pass isn't enough and you end up side by side into Mulsanne, fun.

Race B. Started 4th and finished 2nd. Why can't some people just play the racing game. Yes, it's only 5 laps to win, but c'mon. First , you have to finish!

I'm trying to just follow a Mustang while in my Supra. Another Mustang comes along and just can't be patient into T1. Like, just roll with us so the leader doesn't slip away. We can put P1 under pressure, if we stick together.

No. I get late braked up against the wall. No penalty for me. He gets 2.5 seconds. When I catch up, after he's taken out the other Mustang, he backs off before T1. I brush the wall on my own and 5 seconds!

Anyway, I just put down fast times to build the gap. 3.1 seconds by lap 3. 4.8 seconds lap 4. 4.9 seconds at the bus stop. Shaved a couple seconds just before the line. All, but the leader, have red dot specials.

Looking at the leader board for Oceania it looks like the Renault (the one with Nissan badges) is the Meta, but I think any of the Group Cs would give you a fighting chance. I did some practice with the 787. I'm only 15s off the pace .

What are the track limits like during the race? I kinda got the impression from qualifying that they have given up on track limits .

R92CP is the meta, filling out the top 10 in NA and has been winning the past 4 races on Sarthe with a no stop strategy. Somehow pole can do 3:09 on hard tires, my best so far is 3:14 on hard. Track limits are lax and penalties small. I see someone cutting the inside of Tetre Rouge by a country mile and going wide as well, he gets 0.5 sec. That would have been 7 or 8 sec last time this race was on. I don't know how the track limits are at the chicane, I've been driving it within the lines, as well as the other corners. Penalty free, yet 5 sec of the pace.

Qualifying is on softs of course, at least they are driving the same car. On Bathurst it was qualifying in the Huracan then driving the Megane...

Well given it's coming up to new year I've decided it's time to make a fresh start to online racing in GT Sport/

I really enjoyed last week's races at Circuit De La Sarthe and Mount Panorama and although DR was up and down a bit I had for the most
part clean races with no penalties.

Not so sure it will be the same this week but I am looking forward to the challenge.

@Mistah_MCA well done on your top 10 time, very impressive.

First race at TESOL - enjoyable drive in the Ford GT, but one back marker was swiping anyone who tried to pass regardless of the penalties he was amassing. Not sure what the aim of that was, but I held back to protect SR and eventually finished 2 places from last, ahead of the wasp driver. Cautiously I think I like this track a lot, didn't get a single wall penalty. Thats got to be a good sign.

Now off to try the Gr1 race. Been a while since I drove anything that fast so might start with the 750 for some orienteering laps in a car that can rescue me handling wise. I do love that beautiful spaceship of a car. Looks from above though that I'll soon be in the Nissan.

Edit - 209mph on the straight in the 750. You make up time at the back but on no chicanes finally a chance for Group C cars to shine. I'm going to stick to the old cars out this week, loved the sound on the Mazda 787b whenever I was near it.

Odd thing though, I started to drive through a ghosted car, and collision kicked in, and the car was still ghosted and remained that way for a further 5-10 seconds. I would have had to swerve to avoid them as I exited the corner from Mulsanne straight so just drove straight on, wasn't expecting that.

Blue Moon Bay time of 56.922 puts me at #295 in Europe with a fellow Greek racer topping the leaderboard :)
Tokyo Expressway time of 1:32.512 puts me at #42 in Europe, #1 in Greece :D The Ford GT handles like a dream.
Sarthe time of 3:03.839 puts me at #192 in Europe in the R92CP.

BMB I can't really figure out how to go faster even though it's obvious I'm losing time, and Sarthe still has a lot of room for improvement. I raced once in BMB, starting 3rd and finishing 4th thanks to a very dirty maneuver that warranted a 5s penalty at least but the guy only got 1s :ouch:.

I quit one of my two races in Tokyo because of a 10s penalty and a drop from 1st to 4th after that chicane... won the other race.

One race at Sarthe, 3rd to 3rd on softs, pitting on lap 3.

My DR suffered a tiny loss (-200ish, now 32205), while my SR dipped from 85 to 76 so I am now A/A.

THIS CHICANE THOUGH.

. Somehow pole can do 3:09 on hard tires, my best so far is 3:14 on hard.

I'm a bit surprised. You seem to be off your feed. I qualified with a 3:15 on hards with the 787B. On my grid that got me P11/14. There were including me, 3 DR/Ds. Mostly DR/B.

I started my race with the prerace "Happy New Year!". One of the drivers started with "Hello you bunch of pillocks". I knew he was going to be trouble. Race gets going and I manage to get hit before the first corner (autodrive quit mid chicane). First orange SR. I manage to get on to Mulsanne and tear past some of the "the slower drivers" (ok, not slow... faster than me, but not Group C). I manage to survive the first lap ok, then Mr Pillock (in a Tomahawk) rear ends me. And again :banghead:! Another two orange SRs for that. I got ahead of him and at the final two chicanes he was so desperate to finish ahead that he pushes past me at the chicane... *both* of them :banghead::banghead:. He ended up in the sand and sporting a 1s penalty, but I got another orange SR.

I did a no stop with short shifting... which as it turns out wasn't necessary... I had nearly half a tank left! And the finish:

LeMans_010119.jpg

SR still 99 despite the multiple orange SRs. DR went up another 400+. Not a bad start to the week. I expect I will be matched with SR/Ss tomorrow rather than a mix of both DR *and* SR. Another day above DR 1
