Ok, did not know that. Tbh, i'm not feeling the changes when i play. Is the tire model also changed?
I've found it a lot more fun. The R8 really is fun at the Nurb GP. For instance, at corner 6 (that right hander leading to the short straight that ends with corner 7's tight 180 degree corner) at corner 6, I take it in 2nd gear in the Audi R8, but I can stick it in first and tail leaps out, then grab 2nd and you drift through - hilarious fun. The 180 that comes up I can do the same thing and it really drifts all the way through there. But doing so there is not quick. But fun ... in practice I am getting ultimate best laps in the 1:57s but I am still far too inconstant. So there's a lot more variation driving the car for me, its a lot of fun now. But rear wheel slip is certainly still a big issue, but the car feels easier to catch.

Just wish the Japanese would not take revenge ... most races I've ended up facing the wrong way on the first lap. I suspect TC would avoid some of that, but TC is like a drug, its hard to kick that habit.

Last race for the night. NGP. I tried doing some laps with the Viper. It's usually one of my go-to cars, but lately I just haven't been able to get it to work the way it used to. On the other hand the 'vette I'm finding much easier to drive than before. The upshot was that i was able to beat my 4C time with the 'vette which put me P8/15 on a mixed grid of DR/B-D. The difference between starting P7 and P13 was 0.6s .

Race gets underway and I'm being cautious for the first few corners and letting the optimistic ones thorough to make their mistakes while keeping my nose clean. That worked because I made it round the first lap unscathed, but there were a few close calls :scared:.

I was on the final lap and had cut a corner a bit too much avoiding another car. 3s penalty and the guy behind was less than 3s behind. I get round the final corner , pull over to the right and try reducing the penalty. I cross the line ahead of the car behind, which comes as something of a surprise, when "Final Lap" flashes up :dunce:. Ahhh crap! And two cars pass me on the strait before T1 . All I can do is finish the lap. I managed to get the two positions back somehow to finish P6. I call that a result :dopey:.

Much damage? Ya should see the damage Bronze! Metal damage! Brain damage! SR blue and still 99, DR went up a bit over 400 which gets me back all that I've lost in the past several days with a little bit of change to boot :D. Another day above DR 1 :dopey:.

On race A, I'm finally whittling my time down to a respectable1:29 but that Mustang's balance is really finicky. Don't get me wrong, the car is a joy to handle on the oversteer but even just squealing the back end causes it to lose time. Some corners I'm better off just coasting through the apex and letting the car naturally throttle to the edge of the track rather than trying to reel in an aggressive trail brake. I've hit each turn as perfectly as I think I can but not in the same lap. More practice.

On race C I'm 4 or 5 seconds slower than the record time and the regional record recording, as of last night, was a bizarre useless oddity. The driver was just braking at most of the double cone markers and constantly shifting into the wrong gears. His steering inputs were smooth but the brakes, throttle, and gearing were jabby and nonsensical. I guess I really don't understand that Integra.

I was finding with the Mustang last night that not gearing down was benifitial in a lot of corners, it reduces wheel spin and you can apply more throttle, lugging a gear seems to be quicker than being higher in the previous gear with some wheel spin. Tonight I’m gonna try staying in 4th for corners 1 and 2 and staying in 3rd through the entire hairpin section. :)

LOL. this happened to me yesterday on my first run at NGP. I had a 0.3.. Second penalty from avoiding 4th place at the last chicane on lap 1. As I came to round what I thought was the last lap, pull to the inside to quickly clear the penalty, at this point to hold 4th, cross the line and race is still on. Lost two places down the straight and one more from overshooting turn one.
I feel ya man!

Thats good.Bathurst for me was a bit of an eye opener, night in a game never seems as clear as night IRL.

You've raced a GT3 at night IRL huh? :sly:

Bathurst at night is an experience, but I found that it's much easier if you have a car with decent lighting. Some of them massively improved visibility if you changed the headlights to clear lenses instead of yellow. Better than Bathurst at night is N24 at night. The first time I did that race I actually found it easier than during the day!

I will. I might have to forgo my typical purple and yellow livery and paint up a Hertz rent-a-racer.:gtpflag:

I've painted my Mustang in purple and yellow (although I can quickly change the purple).

I meant driving at night in general, love to have a go in a GT3 IRL though, even as a passenger just for the experience.

For my own part I'm a bit annoyed at myself. Late last year the two Nurb GP races we had I qualified 2.01.2 +/- a smidge. I thought I was getting faster with the G29 but last night having tried about 6 different cars I was still just behind my DS4 time. I reckon I've a sub 2 min in me when I click with the right car. The R8 was my fastest last night but I had to use traction control which I never usually do and didn't think I'd be consistent racing it. The M3 & Beetle were consistent but also half a second slower. Need to find a balance...stay on the track and get faster.

I qualified with a 1.59 flat on DS4 and D-Pad, optimal is a high 58 so i think that's about as good as i can do.

Try the Merc, NGP is all about exits, it's point n squirt, the Merc gets on the power really well.

Very happy with S rated rooms last night, behaviour was excellent if a little fast paced at times :)

After a few weeks without GTSport and bringing fear and terror upon the wild west, along with some classic GT racing (I love those 70s and 80s turbo-monster sportscars in Project Cars 2) I decided to have a quick look at GTS again and set a few Qualifyer laps.

First of all: what happened to the cars? They feel like they are running on rails. I tried R8, 997 and M3 and with every car I had a nearly equal time (somewhere around 2:02.6 with 3 laps for each).

I might join a few Race Bs this week, depending on my mood. I also tried A but that‘s not my type of racing. Can‘t try C since I lack the required car.

For race B there‘s only this car for me:

(Though I might have a shakedown with the R8 as well ;) )

I think the Honda for race C is only 23/25k, not much at all really. It’s a fun track in that car too. :)

DS4 users, check this out. I just saw it on Instagram, don’t know what it’s called but it turns the DS4 into a wheel kind of. Might be interesting to try. :)

I managed to get my willow time down to a 1.30.1 last night, a perfect lap for me might get my a low 1.29 Slept in this morning and told the wife i would do the dishes before i left for work, so not much time to race. Oh and i need to shovel another 15cm of snow, anyone else in ontario wish winter would just skrew off already. At least i got my good car back and can have fun with my commute hehe. Put down some hot laps on race B and C, and i am really off pace. Was in the vette though, wich i never drive so i might be better in a different car. The Porsche is not a good car for me, i can't tame her lol. With some more laps i might get faster in the integra but i doubt I'll catch my faster friends...

I just stick to the inside and drop to 3rd for the final part of the corner leading on to the start/finish strait :D. from previous races at Big Willow I leant that I gain some extra by taking the corner leading on to the high speed section in 2nd then as soon as you are in a position to hit the throttle, change up. At first it seems like you will bog the car down, but it picks itself up and I find I gain on the others 👍
You're right. Natural tendency is to swing wide and try to cut the apex on the exit of the final corner. Seems like it would be faster, but it never really works. For whatever reason, maybe it's the track surface or the slope, when your car starts wide, it stays wide. Staying low is usually the best bet, there. 👍

Hah, I decided to "slightly modify" a livery before the 23.30 race a few nights back. I went to bed at 00.30 having missed that and subsequent races. All just to move a decal off the curve of a rear wheel arch because the distortion was annoying me.:banghead:
I've missed a ton of races because of the livery editor taking too long to save, and because of being on this website.

I didn't race yesterday, too tired from my two Nord Marathon runs in the weekend. First race today on Big Willow after some practice (starts 10 minutes later than the B time I'm used to lol) and unfortunately I had a Brazillian behind me. 2 SR Downs until he forced a way through while I'm stuck behind a Peruvian. The Peruvian then proceeds to pit manoeuver me after I cleanly overtake and I get a 4 sec penalty for his failed attempt. 10th place finish tanks to Peru. -800 DR, -12 SR. Great start...

Yep, the stress of watching the "applying livery" timer while the clock is reading 1 minute to race start. Nearly as annoying as logging in with just a minute to spare only to find that you have to wait for the stupid carousel to spin around and tell you that you won a Daihatsu Chopin for your "Daily Workout" the night before. :nervous:

@Melbourne Park: The cracked effect can be done just by placing a "web like" pattern over the base paint. So you've simply got a purple car there with a blue pattern over it. The patterns are available from the PD stock decals.

Second attempt at race A. I get stuck behind a Mexican, no problem. However an impatient crashed out American gives me SR Down, then bumps me off in the final corner. At least he for 5 sec for that and dropped to SR.A. 6th place finish -600 DR, +1 SR.

Next race, I got to 4th. Then I drive myself of in the bit I'm practically driving blind. PD why can't you choose time of day settings that are compatible with the weather. We had a lot of snow, now blue sky, sun out. can't see **** half way through that track. I finished 10th in the end, -1050 DR, -1 SR from the SR Downs from the American behind me.

Good, a cloud moved in for the next race, I can see! I get to 4th place again and keep it this time. Clean race bonus, no taps from behind as the start was bungled up and the car behind me already came alongside in T1, then drove himself off in T4. -300 DR, +6 SR.

A second clean race bonus to get back to 99 SR. -400 DR for finishing 7th. The race is too short to make up many places. Let's see how low DR can go this week. I probably won't race as much though, B and C are out, too boring. A isn't all that exciting either, slow and short, yet at least the track is nice.

The real world optimal line is to move to the outer edge for the brake line and then hover mid track before you attack the apex. As you guys have figured out, cutting from the outside to the apex while trail braking will just scrub speed.

@FreewingF16: Just remember, guys like me lapping at 2.01 are finding it just as hard to figure how the ones doing 1.58 are doing it.:sly:

@GarikFirst: Wathching vids helps, also allowing yourself a slower lap where you are studying the course, trying multiple cars to see what fits best, playing with things like brake balance and of course...practice. Last week I knocked 5 seconds off my qualifying time between Monday and Sunday just by learning the track, the car and getting comfortable with how far I could push. Another day and I'd nearly have caught @VolkswagenX :D

I just checked kudos and found out I did a 1:58.358 on Nürburgring gp with a DS4 back then:eek: I will set an official time on friday but my practice runs are in the high 1.59s. Starting from the back has dropped my dr from 7000 to 1600:lol:

You’ve got my beat, I can barely crack 2:00 on NBG GP with the Gr3 cars. I’m too throttle happy, I just want to hammer down quickly and end up spinning my way around the track lol.

My last session for Nurb GP got me to 58.6 I think with the secret car.
I prefer a fast fr that’s stable with tcs 2.
I can run mid low 59. and did in race last night.
My strategy is that track is a patience track. Brake straight go deep open up exit on power early as possible. Pushing entry speed even pushing in general there always slows me. With optimum close to 57 I may be able to break 58.
Patience track. Jmo ymmv

It used to be my worst track.

I'm at 1:57.1 t the moment with the R8. (and I am leaving for a vacation so it won't get better).

Nurb GP is very, very, very much an apex track. if you miss the apex by even a little, you lose A LOT of time.

The Ferrari is surprisingly good there. I have put it into the 57's during races and have 1 win and 2 podiums on three tries.

For the love of all that is holy, TURN OFF YOUR TCS!!!!!! TCS will rob you of time. Seriously, turn it off and start qualifying without it. It takes very little time to get used to it. In the time it takes to come to the forum, you could have accustomed yourself to driving without TCS.

Are you using the R8? Car is very easy to drive.

Naw I was using the Porsche, I’m gonna try the R8 next though because I keep hearing that it’s easy to drive now. It was brutal before the last update, let off the throttle and it would do a donut lol, the snap oversteer was bad. I’m still learning to catch the faster cars and I’m not very good at it yet, couple that with a heavy right foot and it spells disaster without TCS 2. :)
