and Oh I think they loose a life or more a year at the track.
I think you'll find it's more than that, if you go to the local police station they have a list on the wall of the fatalities, they only record the ones were death is pronounced at the track, if you die in transport to the hospital or in hospital later it doesn't get recorded, worse weekend I had there were 5 deaths as a result of accidents. Having said that it really is an awesome place and just about the most fun you can have on wheels, if you're going, do some research, and make sure you know exactly what the risks are.

This an interesting video. I hadn't realized it, but apparently they will just let anybody race on the Nordschleife in their own personal car. First of all, I can't imagine why somebody would, unless they have lots of money and lots of cars, but a lot of these look like daily drivers. Secondly, I'm pretty sure any insurance company would tell you to get lost if you tried to file a claim for damage that happened while racing. Thirdly, the guy at 1:30: Oh my god, I really wish we were able to do that in the game.

A friend of mine took his family from the UK to visit friends in Frankfurt for holidays,he drove his car and on route did a Tourist day at the Nurburgring.Family car with wife and kids on board and luggage in boot, just to tick it off his`list of things he wanted to do`.Cost him about £25 ish for a lap,he did this on a sunday and the main Döttinger Straight was partialy closed, not because of an accident but because thats how it is for tourist laps.He also said that some sections had a speed limit that was pretty strictly adhered to,
I`d like to do a day there on my motorbike but its a bit far to go.

Welp, Race B is not in an R34 GT-R, but at least it's one of my starter cars back in the Closed Beta (Lan Evo FE N300)

Also Gr.3 at Bathurst with 6x Fuel and 9x Tyres with Mediums as the only choice. Oh and is it daytime or nighttime?

Yup, it‘s called tourist day. They have a morning and an afternoon session as they have to respect the noon break. People live so close by and he track is elevated, so you hear the sound pretty far.

It‘s only 30 minutes from my home, but I would never drive with my own road car there... This is the most difficult race track in the world, and a normal road car is simply not made for it. To counter the shortcomings of such a car you have to be really good on the wheel. Hence the about 5 to 10 wrecks per Tourist day. Witnessed a nice Porsche Panamera crashing only 50 yards away from me at the Flugplatz just a few weeks ago.

What I did do was driving a few laps on a portion of the GP track in a Porsche 911 GT3 RS. Instructor first for 2 laps, then me on the wheel for 10 laps, then two no holds barred laps of the instructor (he wrecked the underbody on the curb of the Dunlop in the process, LOL...)

So yeah, you can have some fun there. Don’t forget to bring some dough though :guilty:

Where do you live? I’m currently living in Köln.

Oh please PD! A track with nearly 100 years of racing history! You could‘ve chosen a brand with a historic connection to this track! Porsche! BMW! Audi! Mercedes! Ferrari! Instead you again chose a Japanese thing with next to none registrations in Germany!:banghead:

And yet in last years 24h the car that set the fastest time when the heavens opened was it's rival... the WRX :p.

Taken from Ben Lovejoys website its a bit old now and the figures have probably increased.

Getting definitive figures for fatalities and serious injuries is pretty much impossible. On the one hand, 'Ring rumours' abound (to hear some speak, you'd think there were deaths on a daily basis). On the other hand, there is definitely some under-counting: in one case of which I have personal knowledge, one casualty was declared dead at the trackside and the other was declared dead in the helicopter ambulance shortly after taking off: that was recorded as one fatality and one injury.

In an attempt to obtain accurate figures, I visited Adenau police station in September 2002 to ask, and they reported Nordschleife 10 fatalities between January and September that year. A check with nürburgring GmbH for the same period in 2005 provided a figure of two. That suggests somewhere in the three to twelve range in a full year.

Not to my knowledge. That would make the local news real quick here... And close the track down for some time to investigate. So since I moved here in 2014 I haven’t heard of a death.
That was maybe the case twenty years ago. They used to have racing instructions there too with Zakspeed owned open wheelers that were not safe, so it was said bak then ... It surprised me back then, but I guess too, with road cars, due to the "Tuff", most cars are within 10 years old, and twenty year newer cars are a lot safer. My wife's cousin is a Guru at Siemens trains, and three years ago he paid many thousands of Euro to have his 20 year old Renault's catalytic converters replaced to meet current TUFF requirements. I said he could have bought a new Polo instead. His replay was that he is a "Train Guy". His car is 20 years older than anything else in the car park at Siemens in Erlangen.

Race B was good. Kept my patience and moved up a couple spots due to those driver's errors.

Had to switch my strategy, as drivers behind were impatient and smashing me in the rear. Even a player coming out of the pit, tapped me up Mountain Straight. This after I moved over because it'd be on fresher tyres. People need to stop with that crap.

Anyway, I pit on lap 2 to get away from the stupidness. Stayed on RH tyres all race. Ran in last until others pit and some went off track. Car must have been struggling, as the gap was stretching out and then it would close up from 5 seconds down to 3.5.

Pretty dull selection again :-(

Lago Maggiore is getting very repetitive, also Mt. Panorama. Nordschleife is a great track, but the Evo X on sport tyres is a real handful.

I'm trying to figure out whether to concentrate on Race B or C this week. I've tried both and there's quite a bit of contact on each, so my SR has dropped from S to A after just two races. Rats!

Might have to try Race A and see how I get on.

I've done a few early bird runs at Race A. Thankfully I'm new enough I've only seen this race once before but just over 2 months and already seen many repeat events...

Not bad for Monday Morning Q Time

1:07.867

Took a 2nd and a 1st place, now its time for some Breeeeeeeakfast

I setup another account, and had enough money to buy an Evo for The Green Hell. Did a practice lap, and surprise, the pole setter was an "E" driver. Following that driver was a "B" driver that I saw in race A last week at BB. Then there was me ... I spent most of the race on the brakes too - a weird feeling. i know I should be drifting the tail out etc., but in my second lap, in a race , I thought it best to try and stay on the black stuff. I almost did but ran the grass and lost 12 seconds at the Schwedenkreuz - when you leave the initial snaky bits at the start, you go into the fast stuff, firstly a right bend (negotiated) and then the left kink one (where I went mowing the grass and found 4WD didn't help me much at all). Came third though but the winner was quick I reckon ...

If I'd been in my proper account, I would have lost 2,000 DR, no worries. Beaten by an E driver by 20 seconds. I'd have kept my SR though ...

Strangely my single qualifier has me position 239 in Asia, with a horrible feeling 08:31.264, including some off the tracks in the early part of the track.
