My/Anyone's 86 can beat the Megane(and pretty much any of the cars) on strategy. I'm going to try pitting on lap 1. I can make it to lap 9 and not change tyres. If I pit early(cars are pitting from lap 5 & 6), I take on less fuel and just drive without traffic, to the end.
Interesting strategy, good to run in clean air and set quick laps as long as you don't get stuck behind traffic before they pit.

One thing to note is that you need the same amount of fuel if you pit on lap one as you would pitting on any other lap.

Cu

Curious.. where and how do you get those ranking lists,?
Ah, I see.

Well, it's a little trick that I've found, playing with language urls of the gran turismo website.
First, you must no be logged to the website (or simply browse in private mode), that way it won't redirect you to your regianal page.
Then, in the url, just need to insert "gb" for Europe, "us" for Americas and "hk" for Asia. That way, you can acces to all 3 ranking boards.

I'll add easy links in the Daily Races Calendar asap 👍

Entered a race with all Dr C & D. Luckily it gave me the much needed Sr to back to Sr S and a victory with below 100Dr gained.:boggled:

Close battles in the next 2 races with A/A+. Gained 1500 Dr but Sr down to 82 now.:nervous:

Edit: Interlagos is a fun place. Started from Sr B, Sr S(99) after 2 races, Sr B again after another 2 races, settled at Sr A(79) in today last race. Dr up 2300 and got my 65th pole and 50th victory. Should I feel happy.:confused::confused:

Welp, two fairly disastrous races for me. First up, Race B. I usually do fairly well at Big Willow, so I was hoping to make it clean race 4 in a row. In terms of matchup, I was behind the 8 ball from the get go. 3xDR/C, the rest DR/B. I qualified P8/15.

Started well enough, even managed to get up to P6 and had a 2s lead when my clean race streak came to an end. On the 3rd lap the first corner immediately after the esses I thought I was clear, but realised my car was sliding toward the sand and no amount of Hail Mary combinations of downshifts or braking was going to stop the NSX from trying to be a rally car. So sad (insert crying smiley here), That broke my rhythm and just like full course yellows, mistakes breed mistakes. I had 2 more offs. All self inflicted . Finished P10. 103 DR down. SR no change.

Second race, Race C. I was struggling during qualifying adapting to the lighting, but in the end I kinda did. I was still using The Force on some places. Qualified P6 amongst DR/Cs and Ds. I figured I would do well. I figured oh so very wrong. It was so tragic, you might almost call it comical.

Monza was a dream yesterday with the apparent easing of track limit penalties. Interlagos was also a dream.. known as nightmare :scared:. The same lines and curbs I'd been taking for race after race there suddenly had me up to 20s in penalties. I even managed an orange SR... from a track limit infringement  (there was no cars within 2s of me). I had to try bleed that, then more penalties! It seemed that if it wasn't tarmac, it was a penalty!

I finished P13. 19/20 drivers had a red dot at the finish. Reminded me of the complaints about La Sarthe first time out! Another 598 DR down.

The slow steady decent to my home in DR/D has begun... again :dunce:. SR still 99.

Wow have the penalties changed at Interlagos? Really struggling to get a clean race, my SR is slowly lowering. :grumpy:
Edit: Managed to finish with a silver SR next time out, better than red just. In the race before all but 2 drivers got a red SR at the end..

I found Race A really difficult today: I'm ranked pretty bad (my DR is C and my SR is B), and so my opponents played very aggressively but no penalty was given to them. On my first race, i was sent off the track at the first bend and penalty was given to me and not to the guy who liked yo be a missile! Obviously, i finished bad (9th) but i was bumped at least 3 or 4 times. I tried another time and the same happened... I had the best lap time at the start of the race but despite that i finished 5th... There are too many guysguy my level who aren't sporty at all! Plus, the 512bb is not as easy to drive as a Clio or a kart, so this makes things even worse!

Thanks Lichi!

You re a real imense help!:gtplanet:

I took a gamble seeing that one of my favorite tracks was on the menu today.. the track EVERYONE else hates :)
Willow has a tendency to provide more race like replays, mostly thanks to its short nature.. i had fun, but it is a tough track, you really need to focus 100%

Yeah, the Stewards are having no mercy.

Big Willow in group 2 has actually turned out to be quit fun with the insane amount of downforce. But it is really tricky indeed, 2 wheels off the track and you’re almost surely dead already

Yes, no run of to save you, lift and wish for positive outcome. It's one of those tracks where patience and keeping your own pace is what gains positions.. Simply by others going of

Something about gr2 I just can't grasp. I can hardly ever get into the T10 times with them, the only exception is @ Monza where I got 3rd I think. But I had an optimal that was half a second faster (which would have been the top eu time) and it took me 38 laps to break that barrier and even then still 3.5 tenths off and it felt like I fluked an insane lap. There's something about them I'm doing wrong hence that gap after a bunch of laps but I just can't put my finger on it :banghead: .

I think I raced with you at Dragon Trail the other night (green Evo?). I watched the replay when I bumped you from behind at the 2nd uphill turn and realized that the other guy undercut your racing line and you had to stop from hitting him, and I just couldn't stop in time. I was the Corvette in the Dale Earnhardt livery. Luckily it was just a tap and you were able to stay on the track. It was a good clean race, I saw you screaming up the Esses and knew that this guy is going to overtake me, might as well let him through now haha

Yes sir that’s my green Evo! Thanks for the race bud. Those small taps from behind happen, and I only get 1s for them so overall no big deal. Hope to see you on the tracks again soon.

I just noticed something today: after the end of a sport race (race B today), in the post race screen after the end of the race i went to exit as per usual and a message popped up and said " are you sure you want to quit? this might effect your ratings". i dont know when this started but i must have run 3 races today and after they were completed i would just sent my usual good race message and exited to start the next sport race. i wonder how this negatively effected my ratings? is this new? now we have to sit there in the post race screen and wait the 2 minutes for the session to expire and then it allows you to start the next race without "effecting your ratings"?

Have the track penalties changed on Interlagos? I got at least 1 minute's worth of penalties by driving just that tiny bit too far of the track. I don't remember them being soo harsh; either that or I was being less respectful with track limits.

The Group 4 BMW M4 is quick but the fuel economy is dismal compared to the Megane. I had a 2% fuel load coming into the pits and the Megane had more like a 20% fuel load. How can there be such a massive discrepancy for vehicles in the same class? I gather it can only be put down to the extra power and weight of the BMW; 394 HP and 1,445 KG versus 345 HP and 1,100 KG. However I eventually managed to get win only because of pace and nothing else. I was also denied a win a Japanese guy driving a Megane Trophy on worn tyres, who forced me wide - soo wide that I got a penalty and lost the race. I was gutted. No such problems with Super GT and Willow Springs though. Started first and stayed there to get win number 60.

Yeah. If you happen to look at the track the wrong way, automatic 5 seconds. An additional 11 seconds every time you complain.

Were you short shifting with the BMW? It's a bit of a trick car and because of that it used to be utterly dominant in GR.4 races where fuel consumption was enabled. Nowadays if you don't know the trick it's a complete dog on fuel economy.

Gawh, one time when my favorite class combines with my favorite track (BW) I couldn't play.
Hope they bring it back soon :)

Another early top at Le Mans :DView attachment 743892

Which car have you used?

Had an excellet day's racing yesterday and really enjoyed the Grp 2 and Grp 3 races at Willow Springs and Interlagos.

Managed to get a 3rd place on Willow and two second places on Interlagos (would have had first on one but dang penalties...) and got
a win on the Ferrari 512BB one make at Tsukuba.

Groaning right now as at work when I'd rather be racing but at least it's quiet so chance to catch up on liveries et all.

Mustang :)
Last time we had this the Pug was the META, but I like the Mustang more since it's much more stable and consistent. Now I'm sitting at 3:55!

Wanted to do race A today, unfortunately the track is the other way around. Need some time to get used to that so another day.

Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes!!!!

A very nice race for me today. Interlagos Gr4.
Guess I'm still improving, guess I still haven't reached the end of my talent ;-) I managed to squeeze out a 1:39:622, an improvement of over 3 seconds on my previous record. More important I managed to practice while short shifting back to back low 1:40s. The time gave me P5 on the starting grid, top 5 slowly pulled away from the pack and after about 5 laps I had a gap behind me of around 7 seconds while being within 4 seconds of the leader, still in 5th place. by lap 9 the top 4 had already pitted and I was in the lead, at the end of lap 9 I needed to get some fuel, on pit exit I had a small lead on the number 2 (pole position driver) of a little under 2 seconds. My guess is he was on new tires, because in the final lap he managed to pull alongside me and pass me on the outside of turn 6 right, we were almost side by side during T7 and 8, him having a slightly better exit on T8. I kept my cool and set my mind on finishing the race, I finished .9 of a second behind him.

Finaly, I know now I can be competitive in a pack of B - S drivers and might even be able to pull out a win someday with the Ferrari. It took a couple of weeks to adapt to driving the Ferrari without TCS but it definitely paid off since now I'm faster then when driving with TCS on.
Thanks to all you guys for giving me the short shift explanation, this main contributor to this 2nd place finish was short shifting for fuel and tire management, I think the tires could last at least another 11 lap race. Previously while racing with TCS on I needed to change tires during a race like this.

Guess I'll still be with Ferrari the next Manufacturers series.
Love these enthusiastic posts. Makes you realise what a brilliant game it is.

the track EVERYONE else hates
I love it too but dont have a Gr 2 and refuse to buy one. Want to win it in the wheel !

Just had a weird incident exiting the pits with @Alpha Cipher. I’m not sure if the game put us side-by-side at the pit exit, or if we were ghosting inside each other (inb4 any dirty comments), but the close proximity caused us to both spin off into the gravel trap.
