I did some more races at the lake, my qualifying time gave me either a last place start, or 19th so nr 20 could punt me in T1 :banghead: Miraculously I could steer in between all the other cars into the wall to prevent any secondary accidents.

Then I met @Winnie847 on the track, who I cut a little close when he got out of the pit, then he bumped me a little bit after on the right hander which I'm still not comfortable with and brake a little early. I didn't go off, he didn't pass, no harm no foul. That was a dirty race though. I ended up reporting two bump passers and more people got called out at the end of the race. Despite getting bumped off a couple times I remained penalty free until the corner before last when my car thought it necessary to slide and nick that 1.5 sec shortcut penalty losing me time and another place.

Enough of the lake, between trying to stay awake and avoiding dive bombs and bump passes, it's not even all that pretty to look at. Another 1000 DR entry fee spend, better luck tomorrow. Or not, X-Bow sledding at Alsace, Destruction derby at Willow cheat version or watching paint dry on NGP. Tough choice.

Sorry again for the bump. I saw you brake early and should have been able to avoid contact, but it just so happens that I was losing control right at the same moment because I overcooked the previous corner and braking didn’t go as planned. You’re right that was a terrible race. I think I could have finished around 8th or so had I not been punted 2 or 3 times. Anyway, decent races overall I guess, even though I lost a bit of DR, still stayed at 99SR. It seems I’m now regularly being placed in super strong lobbies which are filled with mostly A/S drivers and a few aliens. Oh well, guess it’s time to get better!

I just wanted to leave a quick "good bye" (for the daily races only) here!
I will still do some hotlapping and lobbies from time to time. But no more sport mode until PD fixes their crap. Wish you guys all the best and no penalties for the day. I'm out!

You will be missed. I hope you change your mind eventually and come back :dopey:.

I haven't played sport mode enough and I'm still not familiar with all the cars yet, but did one of Race A and C. Race C, I lost based on being not confident with the GP track despite having done enough on GT5/6.

But overall, my pick for the next 24hrs is Race A. Also going to try and reclaim my little DR points - still trying to further my progress in DR. D.

Welcome to the club . It's nice to see a fellow DR/D here amongst the aliens ;). NGP was new to me, I came here from GT4. The only reason I bought a PS4 was to play this game, and the only reason I wanted to play this game was because they added Bathurst. Despite the many complaints you read here, I found it a nice surprise. Different tracks, different cars, and eventually different events. It's nice that it has the capacity to evolve, and it isn't long before new tracks and cars find their way into the daily races 👍. Enjoy the ride!

Did some pre-qualifying laps to get an idea what the supposed Gr4 META is like. It's easy to drive. Provided no one rammed you off it would be easy to get clean race bonuses if the race handling is the same as qualifying. I'm still a second faster in the NSX though :p.

The Megane Trophy definitely lacks the top end speed....but the drivers who can drive it fast know that they can brake really late and take corners really tight. I was driving in a Corvette following a Megane the other day, and I would always catch him in the straights but he would just pull away again in the corners.

I got punted at the 1st corner (Be warned that it is a standing start) and then at the next hairpin as well. Ended dropping from 4th to 15th, so just dropped the fuel mixture down to 3 for a couple of laps and then charged back up through the field towards the end as everyone had to either turn the fuel down or pit. Managed to get back up to 4th and was only 6 secs back of the winner at the end, so pay attention to your fuel.[/QUOTE]
Will look to have a go at this after work, so are you able to run 2 laps at fuel map 3 and then the rest of the race at 1?

I just had an amazing ride for today's daily! I qualified 6th- 1st and 2nd are in the Top 10. T1 began and... no carnage! :D I almost got spun by someone who was run wide because of the amount of people at the apex, but all is good. First 3 laps are side-by-side action and just a whole lot of fun! I dropped to 10th and my lap times are a 2:07 after 2:07, but I was able to climb up to 8th after collecting some people who made mistakes. In the end, some people weren't able to make the fuel last the whole race distance and had to pit, so that got me propelled to 4th. Quite happy with it :D
My strategy is shortshifting all the time; no messing around with the fuel map

Now now, I hear some of you "but what about the penalties?". Well, guess what? I didn't have any :D even got a clean race bonus to boot! There is side-by-side contact as well. I'm also quite glad to see so much respect from people in a daily :)

And finally, I found 3 wild Filipinos lying around the race! How cool is that :D (and another 1 whose mother is a Filipino married to an Australian father. Funny thought: I have a cousin who's exactly in the same situation :p not that he'd play racing games though ;w; )

On Interlagos I was able to catch Megane's with my Cayman, primarily because they would typically scrub speed on Juncao (Turn 12/the last 90 degree turn). Slow in, fast out, late apex, and out run them through the long straight. A lot of people try to corner cut Juncao but it throws your exit line way too wide and putting 2/3 throttle down on an incline on a rumble strip is like trying to jog through butter. Dialing in a fast exit on Juncao is crucial since the gains on the straight are exponential due to it's length.

Race C Today, its a Megane Trophy one Make Grid Start at Nürburgring GP, because as PD knows that Renault is being so under used since it was introduced. A grid start at Nürburgring GP with that car is going to result in carnage a T1...
At least Race B is Streets of Willow GR B, those races are always clean... :banghead:
Race A in the X-Bow at Alsace should be fairly safe though.
Might have a Try at Race C with no Quali just for the crack.
Edit: Race C wasn't too bad after the start but I finished last, the Group B race was as I expected total chaos from start to finish, I was last again as I had to drop back to avoid the chaos..

Hey, PD listened to me!!

The other day I said, they should just make Group 4 races One Make Megane Trophy races..

First race for the night... The Village. The X-Bow is a handful on SMs. I was surprised to qualify P6/11, since I did pretty crappy laps qualifying.

Race is a grid start and I got ahead briefly. I was less than graceful through the first corner but somehow made it through. Then the carnage began. I had someone dive bomb me, resulting in an orange SR and 9s penalty. Then I get knocked off on another corner when someone decided to side swipe me. That dropped me down to P10. The final corner of the first lap and somehow I nearly ended up in the pits and found my penalties up to 14s. I found a convenient place to bleed off the penalty and got back into it. I got up to P8 and on the final lap I had closed to the gap to p7 to 1s, but just couldn't catch them in time. For half a lap I was just waiting for them to spin out or something. Didn't happen, so P8 it was.

DR dropped by 300, SR down another 4. With the controllability of the Megane I'm hoping to get those back in Race C later.

Maggiore always has a strong line-up with A+ and mostly A, fast people must like that track. NGP and Suzuka in a daily C also often have fast line ups. Daily C is pretty safe for SR with plenty of time to catch back up to keep DR safe. Plus those tracks are very lenient on track penalties, lot of corner shaving opportunities.

Once you reach high B / low A you'll be in these fast rooms at max SR. Very little chance at winning and nearly always starting in the backfield. Another reason why I didn't bother with qualifying for a while, qualifying for 16th to 20th feels so useless lol. It's more on me though, I was happy with a 1:58 qualify time yet could reach 1:57 in race. Pole ran 1:55. I rather stretch my legs and get a cup of tea between races than go back to qualifying. I do enough hot lapping during a daily C anyway when the field gets spread thin. Update my Q time for a non drafting clean lap!

See you again, it was a good race until I lost you. Too much interference from bumper cars. I'll probably be Trophy hunting on NGP tonight as I don't trust the penalty system one bit for A and B today. Perhaps I'll alternate, 3 meh choices today.

Megane was not as popular at Interlagos as on the other tracks. Ride on Lancer last night, mostly raced with Atenza, Lancer and Limbo at A/S lobbies. All AWDs :D:D:D

I think I’m sitting out tonight. Going to get a good workout in and maybe watch some TV. I’ll be back online tomorrow most likely during the day. Maggiore again for Race B this time, and believe it or not, I actually enjoy Tokyo East Outer, so I’ll race there too. Whether or not that is good for my SR is another question, hehe.

It’s that final left turn up the hill for sure that limits the Trophy. I tried like hell to be faster in anything but the Lancer because I hate AWD, but I only came close with the Viper, and I wasn’t consistent enough with it to do well in a race. The best I managed was 2nd place in the Lancer in a mostly A/S lobby...gained about 1000DR from it, then proceeded to lose it at Maggiore against a ton of aliens. However, fun times were had and most folks I raced with were clean.

I got 3000 Dr from last night race b. Raced once with the famous Mala guy:odd: Just followed him from the start and crossed the line at P2.:yuck:

Yeah, the AWD lines through Pinheirinho were weird. The Cayman line is a wide late brake which leaves the door open on the apex for cars that can hold those corners better. To block in the Cayman I went wide with a late brake hard trail brake cut (practically a drift) to the apex to block incidental dive bombers. In one race I had a caravan of cars following me through the esses because I was scrubbing so much speed on my defensive line.

The Cayman clearly isn't the fastest car so I had to just keep throwing hot laps up the pack's rear end to keep up and try to avoid defensive line scenarios which would bog down my lap times.

What did you qualify at, as in what time?

Today is easy, the Ring is a good track, proper race track. Not brilliant but better than the endless S curve and rollercoaster fakes.

Had a decent night, could not seem to get a good qualy lap in (2.01.3) but raced well and hard, best racing lap of 2.00.1 and finished top 5 in my lake races.

Riiiiiing! Ring my bell! Race C and despite doing what I thought was a pretty crappy qualifying I started P6/19 on a grid where above me was DR/A and B. Below me was 8 DR/Ds a few Cs and a couple of Bs.

I did OK with the grid start and took the inside line and snuck around. Came out of the next 2 corners in P4. I decided to try @Alpha Cipher 's idea of short shifting for a no stop. I've tried a few times and always ran out of fuel with a lap or two to go. Well, short shifting saw me drop down to P15 after a few laps. In the process I was knocked off track and gained a 0.4s penalty .

I plugged away and did gain some positions from people pitting, but I kinda get the feeling that balls to the wall and a pit stop may have been better for my driving style. I was passed on the final strait and finished P11. My first successful no stopper. I think my shifting was a bit too short. I crossed the line with 1.2 laps worth still in the tank .

Despite the poor finish, my DR went up by 120, and SR is back to 99. Not a stellar finish, but I'll take it :dopey:. Another day above DR 1 :D.

Whaaattt nuuuuu D': sorry I have failed thee ;A;

Thank you Ivisigoth! :)👍 After starting sport mode recently, it made working for mileage points way more fun, and that's also the reason for getting more into it. I saw Bathurst the other week, but didn't make it in time to try one round, that was probably my day trying to get 15 consecutive clean races while still at DR/D. I actually didn't spend as much time on GT5 and 6, but enough to have had good enjoyable experiences on it.:D
I should add on to what you later said about the X-bow on SM tyres, I actually was still feeling out the car during the race, got up to P6 at one point cause everyone is crashing. But despite knowing the track very well, it didn't save me from the many mistakes using the X-Bow. I'm actually not familiar with the Megan Trophy and it's not my go to car for Gr.4. I actually do way better on the Scirocco, TTS coupe and NSX. These three choices are probably not the most popular ones as well... I'd like to master the NSX Gr.4, but it's not the best car for every track.

I'm ulitmately hoping to post in this thread more, it's also nice to read some of the other experiences - good or bad. Hope to maybe bump into you in sport mode one day!

1.58 was my qualify time, the rest was all 1;55 to 1:57! I don't spend much time on qualifying, just how much time there is until the race starts.

The ring feels like Suzuka East to me, it's missing the good part of N24. I'm longingly looking at the rest of the track every time we pass the chicane.

I reckon I could race interlagos every day, back to dr A and an ongoing 9 race clean streak

It surprises me that stuff like the WRX and the Lancer Gr.4 are so overlooked , they are actually pretty quick cars and stupidly easy to drive.

The WRX is not that quick, certainly compared to the Lancer, which you'll see plenty of once the Megane Trophy is nerfed, which will happen eventually. So much so that everyone will then complain that the Lancer is OP.

At least half of the GR.4 cars are utter trash though and need improving, that's just as important as nerfing the Trophy. Some are mainly hurt by the gearing but others are just slow and they are average at best on fuel and tyres too, they have nothing going for them at all.

Epic drive by me. Had to save fuel every lap to finish, didn't pit so tyres were going too and the guy behind catching up. It was a game of Chess at Times. Thr Guy behind had the similar strategy as me i think. Great fun.
