Must be nice there across the pond where qualy times still determine the room. Here in the Americas we're lucky just to get a complete grid of A+ down to D at most times of the day.

I'm in Americas too, to be honest I'm not sure qualifying time means anything when it comes to matching or not because there is a big mix in times always. But I've noticed since they changed from daily to weekly and I've been logging better qualifying times I've only qualified on the top half of the table once.

Bring back the karts!

Keeping them doesn't stop you from getting the same car again. I had a fleet of the same car. When you have several hundred cars in your garage, having repetes is just clutter. The only way there would be any benefit to keeping multiples is if they decide to add wear and tear to the performance equation.

That’s very good to know. I’m new to GTS. GT6 was not so generous. Plus the cars I used to get were typically horrible. These GTS cars are awesome with rare exceptions (thus far). Thank you

This is my biggest issue with weekly races. @Alpha Cipher, I have no issue with you. I don't mean it that way, at all.

There are probably a bunch of people like me, who can only race once or twice a week, because of work/school/family, etc.
New races start on Mondays, and I can only race on Thursdays or Fridays. By then, I've got little chance against the guys that have spent several days logging laps in the car/track combo. Alpha is already about 3.5 seconds faster than me, and has the time to try to get another second faster.
Casual racers have become the sheep being led to slaughter

The daily races somewhat leveled the playing field by introducing new combos every day, which makes people just race, instead of qualifying for hundreds of laps.

When people want to talk about uneven matchmaking, they should consider this aspect, as well.
No problem at all
I fully agree with what you're saying. Weekly races just have these whole bunch of reasons why it shouldn't happen in the first place, but it did :banghead:

What is going on.. Race C keeps disconnecting me between match making and warmup. Anyone else having this? Just got 2 hours wasted due to this..

You have to restart the game once you get thrown back to the race select screen during matchmaking, before warm-up.
In fact, you have to restart the game every 2 races not to get the bug. I just got it again pushing my luck with a 3rd race in a row.

It has happened! Once in a blue moon, a full blue room.

Still not penalty free, perhaps when blue pigs fly.

And it couldn't last. Next race I get squeezed to the wall by another car trying to overtake after the bridge. Unfortunately I was fixated on the radar to avoid him and tapped the wall just before he tapped me, so I ended up with a 5 sec penalty. I called him out after, he blamed me of course. Said he was as far to the inside as possible (not, showed him the screenshot, he ignored it) and started cursing me out for inexperience. So I blocked him, bye.

Meanwhile I got that dc bug again, so now waiting for the next race. I lost 2 SR that race as another car ran into me earlier for another 2 sec penalty while I actually was fully on the inside (different turn)

One more race, don't want to leave on a bad note. Race loaded, he's not there :)

I don't think there are any set "rules" as to why this happens. I have raced almost 500 times from Patagonia with a ADSL connection to the American server and have only had three disconnects. And never a blue screen. Between last night and this morning I did maybe 25 Daily Bs with only one GT Sport app restart (when I got some sleep) and had no issues.

It must have something to do with some particular network environments (router settings, DNS, ISP, who knows what else).

This particular "throw back to race select screen" disconnect has been happening since the last update. It doesn't seem to have something to do with network environment and it's not a set rule you will get it. I did many races since the last update without a problem, yet I've also had it consistently for a while after the 2nd race. The only set rule is, once it happens you have to restart the game to fix it.

Another morning, another A+ and S driver falls out of bed too early and pops straight up on the mountain. Thursday the usual suspect, yesterday kaszi_hun and today Romanhud. They also go respectivly faster each time, first 12.8, then 12.6 and now 12.4 as racepace.

...Haven't they got other stuff to do like 4 example exploring other worlds, making war with the reptilians, finding solutions to stop mankind destroying their own planet, ...?

Another...another: Invisigoth tm!

For me this network problem has started after around 10pm cet for few times now, so it seems theres time dependent problem somewhere. Might be my network or PDI related.

About current race C. I can not understand people squeezing past in a bent at Tokyo. You know its probably gonna spell contact as everyone is pretty much on optimal line and maximum speed. Not that easy to alter the line through the bent once you are at it. And one could easily wait for the next straight. If you cant make the pass on the straight, you are pretty surely going to loose the spot back anyways on the next straight. Take the draft instead - save fuel and make the difference at pits or later with fuel map 1 available due to saved fuel.

Indeed and I would have been better off braking and letting him pass to draft him until the straight. The only problem with that is, once you are off the pace in the bends the car behind him will try the same slowing you down further. And of course pushing the other car into the wall helps create distance not to get caught at the straight. The odds are stacked in favor of the aggressor as time penalties of 1 or 2 seconds don't mean much if given out at all.

The next race was great fun. I missed the start by a few crucial seconds so my car was ghosted rolling into the wall for a 5 sec penalty for lightly brushing the wall at low speed. (while I see cars bouncing of walls at full speed at corner exits and often getting away with it...) So after getting rid of that I start nicely behind everyone and have a further clean relaxed race to finish 8th. Much better.

I can’t see how its not related to the network environment in some way, if it was a bug it would have to affect everybody, touch wood I’m still yet to experience it.

Same here, apart from one disconnect with my European account on the day of the new release. My Canadian account is not affected by this 'bug'.

It's funny how, since the daily turned to weekly, all C races eventually follow the same pattern as week progresses: one-make on grid of A to D. Guess people get tired of same stuff really fast and one gets to race whoever is left.

Edit:
Lmao @, race A, first lap I get punted before the chicane by the guy following the pack in taking the shortcut, literally just touch the grass on the left and get reset plus 4s, game over since im half a lap behind !?:lol:

This game, what's going on...

Different day, different car for race C battling the Pug's. I thought that the fast drivers wouldn't risk weekly races tonight due to it being FIA night. Tried the Ford GT for the first time an great had a great race. Unfortunately for me, another driver had the idea of driving a non-Pug and won in a Jaguar! At least the Pug victory train was broken!

I then wondered how fast ko_sirrus87 could go if he was in the Pug..... Next race.....

I've raced 7 or 8 times at Tokyo this week, and this was the first time I've seen the total race time of 20:35, or any time in the 20:30's. The race pace seems to get faster and faster every time I race. Might try bathurst tomorrow.

It's only natural as players gain experience with the car/track combination and hone their race strategies.

20:35 is scary fast though. My PB is 20:42.6.

Don't you guys qualify more than you race? It doesn't happen every day, perhaps only at particular times. However that particular bug never happened before the update while after it's happening regularly to those that enter many races. Despite the weeklies I'm still averaging 6 a day, down from 13 a day with this particular disconnect not happening for 4000 races. Sine the last update I've had it maybe about 10 times in 100 races. (and haven't had it anymore since restarting the game after 2 races)

It's definitely a bug introduced in the last update that affects a lot of people as I see a lot more people not making it into the room since that update. Sometimes up to 5 people don't get past the loading track / waiting for other players screen, usually 2 or 3.

This thread is following the same pattern. Very active at the start of the week, near dead now.

Not really, I will spend 30mins qualifying before each session and then get about 4-6 races in depending on time. Spend most of my time trying to learn to drive Lambo GT3 for FIA.

Agree something has been introduced since update, but its not anything to do with an online save for example. I dont collect the daily gift car until I’m shutting down if that was the cause then I’d be disco continuously.

Im regularly in rooms that have mass disco’s the most being 7 for a race B two nights ago. Also race at different times so if it was a time thing I would have expected to have been hit with it by now.

What I do know for sure is that I dont have an issue with my network, however when there are mass disco’s the 5 little bars showing strength start to show me with either 1-2 bars and then that creeps back up through the short warm up and then the start of the race, which is why I believe its something to with the network side.

I'm not one for (really) complaining about the penalty system but it's showing its flaws at Monza. I'm on the right going through the first chicane and I inevitably get bumped, meaning I cut the corner. Or there's a guy right next to me and I can't turn left. Either way, I'm forced to cut the corner. The game recognises this and doesn't give me a time penalty, but my SR still goes down. It just doesn't make sense.

Can anyone offer some tips for Mount Pano? I struggle every time this track comes up. My best time is 2:14 flat in the Cayman GT4, but I get killed in the race due to its poor gearing. Also can't get any consistency.

Just tried another race and my wheel glitched at the start and I took out a bunch of other cars. Lost 2k DR and dropped to Sr 59.

Well, I haven’t had much time to race, but this morning I woke up early, got the coffee, and said let’s get it on.
Did a few practice laps on the mountain, and entered up.
Started in fifth, surrounded by the trophies. Looked like by qualifying times my goal was to maintain my position.
Off we go!
The trophy is on me approaching hells corner. Last race I got divebombed here on lap one so I just covered the inside. I am conservative the first part of any race, and have a question, if you use warm up time are the tires warm and sticky from the get go?
Anyhow I figure cover the inside so my race isn’t ruined and sure enough the magazine cleanly overtakes on the outside.
No problem he outbrakes himself on griffins bend and I messed up the entry slightly while passing causing me to lose momentum up the hill. Two more trophies are on me, so I cover the inside on the cutting and pull away until turn nine where I’m forced to get out of it by turning in too early allowing the trophies to inch ever closer. Down through the esses approaching the dipper this South American is right right on my bumper and attempts to bump me wide approaching the dipper. I dunno. That’s not a spot where I would be right on top of someone even due to a mistake. I’d feel real bad ruining someone’s race by rear ending them but he didn’t manage to upset my car.
In some Adrenalin induced feat of reaction time I stabilize via braking and get a gap to turn 15 and nail a perfect exit. Look back and I’m clear!
The trophies attempt to upset me backfired and now I am well ahead down Conrod straight.
Sweet. No need to push.
Well, the guys faster than I thought on the bottom flatter areas and I am kinda in cruise mode. I know the top 3are out of reach anyhow and I’m sitting in fifth.
He’s closing...but still back...
I nail Griffins perfect and flat the next section pushing well. I’m getting away yes! But dang it I’m too aggressive on entry to turn 11 and the car is upset. Uh oh.
So I kiss the wall a bit lose all momentum and after the dipper he’s on me. Dang dang it dang it. Idiot. There was no need for me to push right then and screw myself.
Anyhow we both exit perfect on to Conrod and he’s got slipstream.
Pretty funny though no way a trophy will overtake the McLaren even in slip.
So I realize I can’t be too conservative underbraking. Of course he dives at Murray’s corner in a very very aggressive maneuver.
So we are side by at apex. On replay I am ahead but he’s got room. There’s light side contact. In the moment, I’m like no way am I yielding the guy already rear ended once on lap 1!
So after initial contact I’m inside for the right and there’s secondary contact. racing incident but he’s the one who initiated the overtake with the late dive. He loses control and flies off.
Boom. Sr down for me penalty assessed...
Final lap I am finally clear and closing on fourth, who is prolly cruising.
Serve it up at the line and keep fifth.
So, it’s funny. To me the McLaren is so advantageous. With no mistakes against the guys I have raced in trophies I’m gonna walk away.
I really don’t like the trophy. Most using it seem to think that it gives them free reign or a right to make questionable moves (most that I have personally observed)
I think they get frustrated also. Like when the guy has slipstream all the way down Conrod and can’t do anything with it resulting in some silly dive sure to cause contact.
My mistakes allowed him to be close, that and not being aggressive enough on the bottom areas when I had significant gap.
I always hated that track ever since getting the game, now I am loving the challenge of it.
Good stuff. Have fun.

I very rarely qualify now, as I'm fed up of starting close to the front and being near last coming outta turn 1.

Depending on how much free time I have, I may only do 3 or 4 races a day, though. Sometimes I do just enough to get the daily gift car, and I'm outta there!

Yep, yesterday I wished I could erase my qualify time for the daily C and start last again. Today was messy as well, however sometimes that can work in your favor. Finally a win at max SR, although the race itself wasn't really worthy of SR.S status.
4oVc.jpg

I didn't escape a penalty either. Somebody dived into T1, hit another car which clipped me, 3 sec penalty. Luckily I only lost a couple SR points for the race (from further bumps from behind) while 2nd place left with a red B and there were a couple red A's as well after the race. The trouble maker (driving around with over 15 sec of penalties) did me a service though as after I got clear of him he held up 3rd and 4th for me to extend my lead to 3 seconds for victory.

In cleaner races I still reached the podium and only in one race did I got screwed so bad I finished 9th. Lag is a big factor on that track as well, a one bar connection in T1 is usually trouble. On a track without walls the forward prediction will move a laggy car off the road. On Tokyo it wildly scrapes along the walls as full speed.

Anyway no disconnect bug anymore since restarting the game every 2 races. Better be safe than wait another half hour.
