2:14's on the mountain and you need tips? How about "slow down"? I'm struggling to get under 2:16... (G29, weak ABS, just enough TC to keep me pointed in the right direction...)

Still, lots of fun tonight, and very clean! Running pretty consistent times and finding great competition. I had to give up on my beloved Greddy-liveried Atenza and slum it in the GT-R to keep up, though. Lots Me-Gains at the front, but I just can't get that thing to work for me. I had one odd penalty- got jammed from behind on the uphill hairpin and got a 2 second dinger, which gave the guy who hit me the position. Mt. Pano has gone from one to avoid to a circuit to look forward to.

Try the TT and turn off the TC... just sayin' ;)

REALLY cranky right now about DISCONNECTS!. I've been having a lot of fun at Mt. Pano in the Atenza, and my last two grids had me at P4 (Disconnected!), and, after a little cooling off and afresh entry, P3 (Disconnected!) I'm being dropped to the Sport Mode entry menu. My Q time was 2:17:428, pretty zippy for an old guy. Now, the stat lovers among you will note that those are exceptional grid positions for me, particularly in my climb back up from DR D after last week's punt-fest at Lago M. It frankly blows to have been dropped from two events in a row. I'm on a crazy fast connection, so I don't think my own network is the problem. PD: I'm having fun, and the racing has been clean. Step up your server game, please!
Yah I got kicked this afternoon as well don't know why. I think I shoulda rebooted the system after the first one.

Well, I haven’t had much time to race, but this morning I woke up early, got the coffee, and said let’s get it on.
Did a few practice laps on the mountain, and entered up.
Started in fifth, surrounded by the trophies. Looked like by qualifying times my goal was to maintain my position.
Off we go!
The trophy is on me approaching hells corner. Last race I got divebombed here on lap one so I just covered the inside. I am conservative the first part of any race, and have a question, if you use warm up time are the tires warm and sticky from the get go?
Anyhow I figure cover the inside so my race isn’t ruined and sure enough the magazine cleanly overtakes on the outside.
No problem he outbrakes himself on griffins bend and I messed up the entry slightly while passing causing me to lose momentum up the hill. Two more trophies are on me, so I cover the inside on the cutting and pull away until turn nine where I’m forced to get out of it by turning in too early allowing the trophies to inch ever closer. Down through the esses approaching the dipper this South American is right right on my bumper and attempts to bump me wide approaching the dipper. I dunno. That’s not a spot where I would be right on top of someone even due to a mistake. I’d feel real bad ruining someone’s race by rear ending them but he didn’t manage to upset my car.
In some Adrenalin induced feat of reaction time I stabilize via braking and get a gap to turn 15 and nail a perfect exit. Look back and I’m clear!
The trophies attempt to upset me backfired and now I am well ahead down Conrod straight.
Sweet. No need to push.
Well, the guys faster than I thought on the bottom flatter areas and I am kinda in cruise mode. I know the top 3are out of reach anyhow and I’m sitting in fifth.
He’s closing...but still back...
I nail Griffins perfect and flat the next section pushing well. I’m getting away yes! But dang it I’m too aggressive on entry to turn 11 and the car is upset. Uh oh.
So I kiss the wall a bit lose all momentum and after the dipper he’s on me. Dang dang it dang it. Idiot. There was no need for me to push right then and screw myself.
Anyhow we both exit perfect on to Conrod and he’s got slipstream.
Pretty funny though no way a trophy will overtake the McLaren even in slip.
So I realize I can’t be too conservative underbraking. Of course he dives at Murray’s corner in a very very aggressive maneuver.
So we are side by at apex. On replay I am ahead but he’s got room. There’s light side contact. In the moment, I’m like no way am I yielding the guy already rear ended once on lap 1!
So after initial contact I’m inside for the right and there’s secondary contact. racing incident but he’s the one who initiated the overtake with the late dive. He loses control and flies off.
Boom. Sr down for me penalty assessed...
Final lap I am finally clear and closing on fourth, who is prolly cruising.
Serve it up at the line and keep fifth.
So, it’s funny. To me the McLaren is so advantageous. With no mistakes against the guys I have raced in trophies I’m gonna walk away.
I really don’t like the trophy. Most using it seem to think that it gives them free reign or a right to make questionable moves (most that I have personally observed)
I think they get frustrated also. Like when the guy has slipstream all the way down Conrod and can’t do anything with it resulting in some silly dive sure to cause contact.
My mistakes allowed him to be close, that and not being aggressive enough on the bottom areas when I had significant gap.
I always hated that track ever since getting the game, now I am loving the challenge of it.
Good stuff. Have fun.
The non trophy Megane is faster on the mountain anyway. I don't have a lot of extra time so I use the car that gives me the greatest advantage. And I did a lot of clean AS racing with them this week. I think it really depends on your qualifying time DR and SR. I think people that truly love racing respect it and are trying to get faster are just cleaner no matter what they drive.

I also got booted. Decided to start my game over. Third time starting from the beginning, since buying the game in March.

I used lancer for two days 2.17... barely. Megane gr4 2.14 easily... That car stops at the mountain insanely late and stable, and has just enough top speed to be very competitive at the straits..
TC off, brake bias +2 to compensate for the understeer

Thanks! I did get it into the low 16's, so I'll have another go. Too bad it sounds like a UPS truck... hard to listen to for a long session!

Do the "system" caused disconnects affect DR? (Mine really can't afford any downward movement not brought on by my own (lack of) pace...)

Depends when you disconnect, after race is finalised and loading to begin yes, everything before no.

How is this not a penalty for the guy behind me. Shocking.

My theory is lag was involved with the cars intersecting in the replay and ghosting going on. Do you save the original 'live' video?

What could have happened is that on his screen he started braking in time, yet on yours this information arrived too late causing his car getting forward projected into yours. You go off road then a secondary collision happens with ghosting involved where both of you go off road.

It seems the game now communicates penalties between clients. Since we have the penalty countdown timer I haven't see cars go over the finish anymore with a supposed penalty not to have any red dot after. Before the last update the car behind you would have likely received a penalty on your screen, then if it was indeed lag it would turn out at the finish that he didn't get any.

If it was lag, then his system told yours he didn't get a penalty on his screen (as he never hit you, just saw your car suddenly move off) and for the secondary collision you both go off road so neither gets a penalty.

A laggy car still has the advantage. Last night I had a 1 bar Ford on race C who rammed at least 3 people into the wall with his lag. He never got a penalty and got out ahead in each incident.

Interesting today seemed to be Lamborghini day on the two races I did on the mountain. The first one the pole was held by a top ten guy.
Both races started top ten and goal was to hold position. In the first I did great no mistakes until lap 3 with a five second lead on seventh place I was pushing trying to see if fifth might bobble and I swallowed the olive by just catching 2 wheels partly on to the grass at turn ten and spinning.
Basically everyone flew by my sorry ghosted butt unable to get pointed back into the right direction.
Next race was excellent. Lap one the Lamborghini was right on me but I somehow pulled away a bit on Conrod and at the lefthander he mowed some lawn.
Lap two I ran clean but an evo had been right behind the Lamborghini and was able to close on the start straight because I missed messed up a bit coming onto the main straight. He was on me up the mountain but I pulled a bit of gap and although we both hit good exit onto Conrod I walked out and finished the lap maintaining position.
Clean race bonus.
Very good quality in the racing today I saw. Close but clean. It was fun.
Kinda neat to battle the young bucks runnin alfresco with just abs weak and cockpit view. Did ok today for an old fart.

1st positive GTS post incoming !

Absolutely loved this weeks B race at Bathurst, always been a top fav track of mine and spent hours and hours doing laps there on project cars in the past. So was upto speed quite quickly, after that horrific Lancia Delta race killing my DR/SR score a couple of weeks ago iv finally got back on track and regained my A/S ratings :D now to push on for that A+ rank.
Got to admit iv been converted by these weekly races now, i used to hate Maggiore until last weeks race C, and after a tough 4 days i was getting consistent podiums by day 5.

Next week's races will be utter dog**** though... Race C N200 @ Tsukuba? Really?

Where is Suzuka? Alsace? St. Croix? Interlagos? Kyoto? Blue Moon Infield?

<yawn> Was too tired last night to post my final race at the Mountain. Had intended to run a different car, but Inkscape was doing my head in and I didn't get the livery done, so I thought I'd try the "ordinary" Megane as per @Oswald07 's suggestion. Shame that I didn't have the skills to fulfil the potential of this one, although I found it a bit slower on the straits. I missed my usual window (again from Inkscape) and didn't actually manage to race till 1am :odd:.

Couldn't beat my Veyron time, but came close enough not to feel guilty about using it's qualifying time. I still reckon qualifying time should be whatever you get for the car you use in that race and not a previous race :dunce:. Either because it was late in the week and everyone was too bored to race, or the late hour meant numbers were down, but I started P8/14 (was P9/15). The top 6 positions were DR/As, Bs with an S on pole. The rest were DR/D. Sadly I seemed to be a bit of a sheep, with 5 Megans in the race, 3 of which were clustered P2-5.

Auto drive dumps me just coming out of Murry's and it's on like Donkey Kong! Hell Corner was pretty much that. I got through with no time penalty, but an orange SR from being hit from the side. By the beginning of lap 2 I was up to P6. Sadly I wasn't at my best and was haemorrhaging time with minor mistakes. There was another Megane right on my tail from Skyline to Forrest Elbow. I had a bad exit from the Elbow and scrapped the outside wall . The other Megane was closing in and I saw him on my radar slightly to the left, so I pulled over to the right as he slowly edged next to me. He was also right on the edge of the track heading towards the kink. Since he was carrying more speed slightly, I decided to ease off before the kink so we both had a clean run 👍. After that I just couldn't quite close the gap again.

Final lap and I'm just not with it. I'd consoled myself with finishing P7, especially after scraping the inside wall on Forrest this time. Someone had muffed the corner at the end of Conrod so I cruised on by and finished P6 with no time penalties.

Finished with a white SR, so still 97, DR went up about 500. Another 50ish and it's another exploration of DR/C :scared:. Another day above DR 1 :D.

You mean where is N24 and Nordschleife. We've had St. Croix, Interlagos and Suzuka since the weeklies, still no Nordschleife/N24 9 weeks in a row next week.

The game now has 59 layouts eligible for sport mode. About a 5 month cycle if all layouts were used the same, yet some have already been repeated.

Some are more suited to daily A and some more to daily C though. Yet if you prefer longer races there are still 22 layouts (Excluding reverse and smaller versions / versions without chicanes) that are good for the daily C. That's over 5 months to cycle through and the next track is added soon.

That's not even counting the preference for what to drive on each layout. How long will I have to wait to get GR.1 as a daily C on N24? 1/22 chance x 1/4 eligible GR to drive on N24 as a daily C, chance of 1 in 88 weeks to get my favorite car / track combo.

Erm, I doubt that will ever happen. More likely to be NGP. Then again during the little clips they show when the game is on the main screen and idle they have a clip of Gr1 at Bathurst, and they don't actually run prototypes IRL there. :odd:

Here's my fastest lap so far for Race A of 1:40.1 to serve as a starting point. I might be able to get half a second more in the next week, but as of now the lap is still good enough for second place worldwide

I'm planning on livestreaming races on my main account throughout the week and I may make a turn by turn tutorial for Race A if I have the time.

Shame it couldn't be at Maggiore or Bathurst or another big track. Gets boring after lap 7.

Agree with you very much there 05XR8, imho I wish at least one of the races should be on the rather large racetracks since it's for a full week. Maggiore or Kyoto Driving Park or St. Croix or La Sarthe, Alsace, Dragon Trail or Interlagos, Monza or Mount Pano... Cheers.

Fuming.

The cheaters always leave the room first. This player in 2nd place was losing to Lion-Face. I set a fastest lap and caught and passed for 2nd. Into the second hairpin, he deliberately rams me off. Ain't my fault he was losing ground.

Next, had a proper race for 3rd with 4th & 5th place nose to tail for 10 laps. I made one final pass, to take back 3rd. Totally fair racing by us three players. But no, that other player just had to save face.
