Well, that does kind of suck. But I guess I need to stay away from Race A then, since I'm using paddles. Thanks for the information!

NP, It all depends on the car, only cars with a manual H pattern gearbox get the advantage with a shifter and a lot of the time race A cars are converted to a sequential gearbox, but not this week for some reason. :)

I don't mind the slow shifting. If you like the game enough to have a shifter you're likely ahead of me on the track anyway. I only use 2nd and 3rd gear, wind that baby till it sings. Probably in my head but it seems like if you slightly lift the throttle when you hit the button for 3rd it catches a tiny bit quicker.

A new person on my hit list. I punted him a couple times to get my SR down fast after he rammed me multiple times getting my penalties already up to 10 seconds. Not a winning strategy yet still 11th and a fast way to SR.B where I won't have to deal with the SR.S idiots anymore. Jeez that last race was a dirty mess. SR.S can kiss my ...

Thanks to mr anonymous providing a target for a quick way down the SR ladder:

First victory on Tokyo.

Pole position wasn't happy with it and punted me in the hairpin then quit. No matter. Penalty free, SR unfortunately going back up.

In comparison only a few red ratings in the SR.B room compared to the SR.S room with only a few blue ratings.

Oh, and he's going to post my punts in a thread, looking forward to it. I kinda missed him the second time yet still got SR Down. It felt good to let off some steam. Back to relaxed driving. (I don't actually have a hit list, can't even remember what I had for breakfast)

Lol again, 13 positions to victory this time. I didn't think I had a chance as pole had a 2:07 quali lap. Not penalty free unfortunately, 1st place turned in on me and scraped the wall after. It was only 1 sec and I was 5 sec ahead at the finish, no need to scrub. This game is not designed for fair racing, any textbooks overtakes shall be punished! But I get to stay in SR.B a bit longer :)

First: I just noticed you have 495 wins. I am in awe. That is phenomenal

Second: You mentioned that you were disappointed that your SR went up. Shouldn't we aim for the highest SR possible?

I'm fairly new to sport mode so I may be missing something

I just had a thought. I'd like to try to pair with other forum users for dailies. (like sturk and pigems and sven do) Can slash should we set up a thread for it, or just use our "home" here?

Example: Hey guys anyone wanna try to match a race A? I'm at DR D (2384) SR A (78)

Turnin the ps4 on now :)

That's why I never bothered to enter race A, at all this week. I did some qualifying laps that I felt were almost ideal, but still over a second behind the guys who had the quicker shifters. It makes a really big difference in that particular car, so there's no actual Balance Of Performance.

Aww I missed

Aww I missed it. I still have my misbehavior saved on my ps4 anyway. He really wasn't worse than the other messy aggressive drivers in that race, it was a shameful race all around, especially for SR.S. What sets me off is getting penalties for other's crappy driving and his name was easy to remember. I suck at punting though and might have messed up someone else as well on my 'attempts'. Welcome to the Tokyo, punts at T1 and the hairpin are a given. I've received at least a few dozen last week.

If you read this, just move on, or punt me next time you see me. Sorry to single you out for target practice but I was tired of SR.S pretending to be fair and clean driving. And PD, ghost punting idiots like me. There's no reason to let me hit someone at 270 kph right at the turn in point of the hairpin. That's why racing in lower SR is better since there the game does ghost punt and swipe attempts.

I'm back up to 60 SR and close to DR.A. Sunday is going to be interesting in SR.B. I kinda want to try to get my DR way past 30K before advancing to SR.A. Save up that 1500 level up bonus just as another pointless goal.

I saw the thread last night and was hoping to wake up to lots of drama. Oh well.

I won’t lie, the video made you look pretty bad — but, you can see clear as day how he gave you 10+ seconds of penalties by ping-ponging you into the wall & other racers.

I guess it depends who you get matched with but i have not found to much issue in races with using paddles. One guy here or there who is getting the faster shifts but generally it seems nearly everyone ive raced is on paddles. I've actually gotten past one or two guys who i suspect missed their shift so it's another thing that can help or hurt you i guess. I am not racing with the aliens anyway so i dont really care about it. Shift point also seems to make a huge difference in the mx5

I think this thread is the best place for it, but it isn't as easy as it seems. I'd be happy to race with you, but it can be difficult to race with your friends, even when you're really trying to. Pigems and I are buddies, but I've only been paired in a Sport Mode race with him maybe 10 times. I once spent almost an entire day stalking Sven in the daily races, and when I finally got paired with him, he was disconnected after a couple of laps, and I never saw him again. However, when you're all in the 90-99 SR range, it's easier.

Yeah 99SR when I first started (new years this year) I raced almost the same room all day at Willow Springs.

I usually stick to the A, I don't have the skill yet for the faster races, I stay out to not mess up others races. I do usually set a time to laugh at though. This week as of now
A 1:13.667
B 1:37.716 in a Corvette
C 2:14.899 in the 458 Italia

Question at the end

I just had 2 races (the only 2 I've done today) that were complete opposites

1st race extremely clean
2nd race extremely dirty

The 3 dirty drivers in the 2nd race were all displaying the same flag.

Is there one specific country with dirtier drivers?

Short answer, yes

Yeah your right, it’s definitely easier in the SR 99 races, we got to race together a bunch at willow in the mustang I think, but before that you didn’t belive I existed for a while there.

I find that outside of the top SR races I don’t often see anyone I recognize, I raced all day Friday and only saw You once, and you were the only person I raced with all day that I knew. Maybe we could set up a weekly race where we all get together and run through the daily races in a lobby together. :)

Edit: Next Weeks Races are up now.

Nürburgring next week might be interesting. Dragon Trail might also be decent. I just need to get back to drC before another FIA season.

Any car preference for these 2?

I lean to Mitsubishi and Lamborghini

Last time we had Suzuka East in A It was the old Mini, I got my first Win on that combo. I’m going with Lambo on B and C most likely the McLaren/R8/Porsche. :)

Yeah. It got deleted right after I posted a comment there about Sven sniffing glue.

I'm not Sport racing, either. Just working on building up the bank account. 👍

I commend you for sticking up for your buddy. But the truth is, your buddy saw himself as a victim when he was not. As a result, he felt justified in behaving like a bully.

Gr.3 @ N24  I'm doing that. The other two don't look bad either, PD probably answered our demands as I don't remember seeing any of these combos since Christmas! :)

I don't care what car is fastest on this event.. Thinking about racing the F1 GTR on this combo gives me butterflies haha! Can't wait to try it

Really? You want to keep that thing going, by coming at me? First of all, you don't know what you're talking about, because the thread was deleted about a minute after I posted. I doubt anyone saw it. I wasn't exactly defending anything. I was saying there are ways to handle those things, other than creating a thread like that.

For C, the Porsche and Mclaren are pretty loose in the rear for me, although I totally love both cars. I am going to test them and the R8 (I hadn’t considered). In arcade mode I ran the Porsche last night and couldn’t keep it on the road. I was also about 9 beers deep and sleepy. I changed to Mitsubishi and smoked it easily. Now that I’m loaded on coffee, I’ll test again.

Thanks for the recommendation! I appreciate it. I’ll start with the R8. That’s a smooth ride.

NP man, anytime. Good Luck! :)

Brazil was pretty bad , but once they were all lumped together to beat the 🤬 out of each other for a month, they seemed to have calmed down. My observation.

Seaside in reverse is a lot harder, imo. I got killed when we did the last Gr.3 race there, a while ago. N24 - :scared: I've maybe done one race there ever. Race A - Would it really be so bad to use Brands Hatch Indy/Miyabi/Horse Thief Mile when you need a short track?

I knew it would be something with Nürburgring. PD sometimes has good ideas and selects a track when there‘s happening something in the real world: We had Bathurst around the 12h race, we had Le Mans around the 24 hours. Now VLN started this years season and we have the ring. I bet we will have it again in May for the 24 hour race.

Anyway, something is broken! I just had two clean races in Interlagos and Tokyo. No bumps, no penalties, no Kamikaze. Just clean racing with 5 and 4 improved positions. Too bad I raced my secondary account.:banghead:

Picture 3 of Sven's race results: An 86 won?! Oh and @QTip8329Wags is in the race, finishing ahead of Sven himself.

Thanks for the mention. The 86 driver, jhajhao, was extremely fast and I could not get close enough for a setup to pass and hold it. It was a really good race but immediately after, a user used the dive and push method through T1 and 2 on lap 1 and ruined everyone's race. SR dropped to 70 yesterday but managed to get it back to the low 90's.

In other news, how about that Gr. 2 Autopolis race last week? Pretty good. Great track.

I also have over 6,500 races completed, win percentage is about 7.5% :)

Sadly SR.S does not mean cleaner races (on some tracks) especially on Tokyo. Due to how matchmaking works you get a higher DR spread in SR.S. Since I start at the back (without qualifying) I get to start behind less skilled drivers creating more chaos at the start of the race. Lower SR has a bigger pool of players to match on closer pace which means less trouble at the start.

SR.S also makes some people more aggressive. Either frustrated because they get matched with players of way higher skill (due to the small player pool at SR.S) or they figure they might as well 'spend' some SR points as there's nothing more to gain from driving clean.

I saw the thread last night and was hoping to wake up to lots of drama. Oh well.

It was pretty clear from the start that that race was a write off. When I really want to get rid off / educate a dirty player I do it like this:

That was my first race today. It's the guy starting behind me. It was clear from his behavior in T1 and T2 that he was a bad apple. Thus I put my cop mode on and went to work to pull him over. Bad boys bad boys, what you gonna do...

I guess my SR got too high, Too many SR.S drivers (and South Americans) in the room. A whole bunch dropped down to SR.B after the race, including me. There were 2 blue ratings in that room, still with red dots. The first two laps were nothing but destruction derby pinball with nowhere to go. I got up to 20 sec in penalties from getting slammed around. Dropped to last to serve the whole bunch in lap 3, then made it back to 11th. No matter, I like it better in SR.B on Tokyo. Time for a break first.

Ooh, I see N24 next week, bye bye sleep.

The problem is player count. I've had rooms going from DR.1 to DR.60,000 with SR.E to SR.S all together and the room was not full yet!

Sure, you could lob SR.A and SR.S together instead of going down to DR.D first. Perhaps SR and SR should be tied closer together, ie let the number of DR brackets match the number of SR brackets. Before adding B/S to an A/S and A+/S room, first add A/A and A+/A drivers, then start adding B/S and B/A drivers to fill up any remaining spots. If that doesn't fill it, add A+/B A/B and B/B before adding DR.C.

This does make SR worth a lot less while putting people closer together skill wise. That won't lead to cleaner races as now you have different SR mixes that are closer in pace, leading to more contact.

The other solution is simply have smaller races. However that's not the appeal of sport mode and you can go to lobbies for that.

One solution is better infrastructure between regions and match the regions together. More localized servers with low latency connections in between servers might do the trick.

But would you still say that the seemingly unusual level of difficulty regarding the poles/wins trophies is very much related to player count either way, right? I could see that, especially since only a fraction of players who bought GTS are typically in Sport Mode, and a further fraction of that are within my region. With this in mind, would you suggest that I try to get into races where I think more people will be participating in general?

Like on one hand, the daily races have both North and South America, but the FIAGTC races may have more people in general that are interested, even if they're limited to the USA and Canada.

EDIT:

I'm not sure what'd be really that bad if we were matched by DR in that case, then.
