Something I didn't think of when I read your post, earlier was that when I had an abscess tooth that hurt so much that I wanted to cut my head off, I tried a bunch of stuff that didn't help, but what did work almost instantly was swishing vodka around in my mouth. Swallowing it is optional. I don't know why, but it works really well. 👍

my friend did that plus numbing gel lol

Tsukuba, Race #38. Started 3rd. Was forced off the right-hander by a Brazilian, and while I didn't crash, I still lost two places. Managed to climb back on the podium by the end.

Race #39. Both me and the previous race's pole sitter were back, but I now started in the middle of the pack. It was a hairy first couple of corners, and what had to happen happened; got overturned on the second hairpin, now placed dead last. Then again, 7 laps is a long long time, and even on such a tight circuit, I ended up in 5th place - I actually improved one position! I even got a clean race bonus in the mix.

Race #40. Pole position. Alright so the driver next to me only posted a time 4 hundreds slower than mine, and every other driver was DR D compared to us Bs, but anyway, can't underestimate the first turn. We both told each other to have a clean race, let's just say it wasn't so simple when the lights went out. While there was nothing dirty, we were still basically side by side through every turn on the first lap, with little bumps thrown in for good mesure. It came to a head on the biggest straight; while I took the inside on the hairpin, I still left him some space and a such gave him a better exit. He was a bit faster, but only by a hood, and I still had the inside for the next sweeping right-turn. Last turn comes, and he goes wide, not too much but just enough to spin out. I never looked back. He came back on track 6th. He came right back to second place by the end, but he lost way too much time behind the others, all of whom posted 1:14 qualifying laps, a full second slower that us. When I crossed the finished line, I was 7 seconds in front of everybody else.

Second win, first hat-trick.

I had two goes at Race C today, one in the 908, the other in a ByKolles-liveried 2016 R18. Ended up 3rd in the Pug, its long legs on the straight allowed me to coast at about 330km/h while staying fast enough to notch a fastest lap.

The Audi? That was a different story. I messed up the lifting and coasting and beached it at the exit of the 1st Hunaudieres chicane on lap 4. Thankfully the penalty gods took mercy on me...perhaps they knew that I would run out of fuel exiting the Porsche curves while trying to hold onto 4th, which became 6th as I could do nothing with the hybrid boost building up at the end of the lap.

Oh well, at least I earned nearly 2k DR.

Since this thread is my home here on GTPlanet, can I just vent about something that isn't directly related to the Daily Races?

The GR Supra GT Cup stresses me out way too damn much. I've been loathing practicing for the next race this Saturday, and (even on the past races) I've been getting too stressed out over trying to get a good time on its time trial and trying to find the FM strategy. Then, during the race, I feel like I'm on the verge of getting an anxiety attack.

So I've been thinking of abandoning it before I try do something stupid like back in 2016. :nervous:

Whereas in the Daily Races, I've been having a ton more fun messing about in their time trials and in the races. Last week, even though I am not that good on Suzuka and N24, I was having a lot more fun trying to improve my TT time and racing against others. I never felt stressed or anything like that; I was enjoying the game.

I don't know, I really had to get this off of my chest.

There's a load of gambling adverts here in the UK that say: "when the fun stops. Stop." I guess we could apply something similar here.
If you're not enjoying it, take a break from it or if you want to still do it maybe just jump in without practice, no expectations and come up with something on the fly. Maybe a change of approach might help.

Definitely. It can apply to so many places.
I've been feeling a ton of pressure in that league. Where I'm ranked so far, I feel it even more, and I just don't want to deal with that stuff haha.

I don't think it's necessarily a good idea to go into one of these races without practice. It is the Supra, after all.

But yeah, the Daily Races have been enjoyable, and even that long race that I did in the lobbies last weekend was far more fun than the Supra Cup.

At least I know what's causing the problem.

Have a couple beers to take the edge off.

That was another contributing factor in my starting an alt account. I was getting a little too uptight about my DR, and worrying about it, instead of having fun.

I won the first two rounds in that series and then haven't raced since. Wasn't a fan of a couple tracks and had stuff scheduled for the other time(s). Haven't driven the car lately but curious to see if the physics change that induced more understeer helped the tail happy Supra any...

Well you are the world's most slightly above average driver I'm sure you'll be fine. :sly: Well at least better than me anyway

Slightly more on topic, managed a 31.7 in Daily B in the NSX which is actually 6 tenths quicker than the last time we had this combo. Physics seemed to have made quite a difference there

I haven't tried it since the update but hear it has improved the car considerably.

And why do so many think they can or should throw it up the inside at Tsukuba Turn 1 from 2 or 3 cars back? I cover that kurb in T1 like my life depends on it, but you always see it coming. On one race, lap 2, saw it coming, took a wide line and let them pass. I wasn't there to be his brake, he went far wide, and I took the lead mid corner and gained a second. What are these guys thinking????

It's one of the reasons I dont do a lot of sport mode. And I use an alt account to see what kind of xxxxxxx are online at the time.

Many online lobbys have smarter drivers compared to sport mode.

@R1600Turbo , when are you starting up a new race series?

Already have one going in Ferrari 458 Gr4's, next up is some E30 M3 racing if we get enough signups.

Maybe you have already, and I now see it in you sig, but you should post the new series here. No shortage of sign ups, I'm sure.

Really hating that I work every Sunday 2:30 to 11.

I did three races on Le Mans yesterday, all using manual gears because I knew I wouldn't make the distance with an automatic. I will use any excuse to use the 962 and the opportunity presented itself. I went in without a qualifying time and started 16th ahead of a few other drivers who didn't set a time. The great thing about the 962 is that it leaves the newer prototypes for dead on the straight. But it greatly suffers everywhere else. I had a decent start and got to 12th before binning it on the exit of Mulsanne corner. I dropped back to last. Not content with quitting the race, I carried on and slowly made my way through the field, as other drivers went off and got into scraps. I ended up 8th, which isn't terrible. I started 6th for the next race after setting a time, boosting my confidence. But that was completely shattered when I got hit off the road at the second chicane. I dropped back to last again, and finished 8th again. OK, maybe the 962 isn't the best car. I took out the 919 and bettered my time to start second. The pole sitter was sleeping at the start and I got first in 2 seconds. Yet we battled for the next three laps, and doing that whilst saving fuel wasn't easy. Things came to a head though when I got punted up the back and flew across the second chicane. It took me a while to get going again and I thought it was over - my race done. 10 seconds later, he vanishes and I get the lead back. I never lost it and because I stayed out, I won by 32 seconds. I ran out of fuel coming into the Ford curves and let the car roll through. I hit the accelerator not expecting a response on the main straight, but I still had some electricity stored in the battery so the car had a bit of power left. I didn't know that the electric motor still worked when the combustion engine died!

Thank you, my friend.
I'm too lazy to create another account haha. I don't care about DR too much, but it's nice to have an idea where I stand.

I'm mostly stressed about maintaning the league points and where I stand against others in NA, and then there's the FM, getting a good time, yadadada. I don't know how some people can compete in Manu, Nations, and Supra Cup and still do well. That's being a straight up masochist. :scared:

Oh, and there's that issue about the points and trying to get into a top split lobby. Yeah I'm done stressing out about that as well. Daily Races and lobbies for me. :D

The World's Most Okay* Player
I'm just gonna stick to Daily Races and Lobbies, I don't need a cute little Supra sucking the life out of me.

I'm sitting at 31.9 with the RSR on Race B. I also realized that Interlagos is one of my weaker tracks, but hey, at least it's not Tokyo Expressway!

I did two races at Sarthe with the R92CP. It's useless now, barely catches up on the straight, already maxes out rpm on it's own in 5th and with fuel saving 3:33 laps is the best I can do. Meanwhile the VGTs and 908 run 3:24 laps... Alpine VGT, Tomahawk VGT and the 908 are at the top and pretty much the only ones used in the fast room. Perhaps the TS050 stands a chance, doubt it as I passed one lol. I'll give it a try.

In comparison, my best lap in the 2.4 hour LeMans endurance race was 3:15 with the R92CP, on softs with stock settings and some weight reduction. BOP really hates this car! Hard tires and a little short shifting doesn't cost an extra 18 seconds.

TS050, best lap of 3:30. However the winner drove a 3:24 lap with it. I don't really like the car but it's faster than the R92CP. I'm going back to the nurb for now, Sarthe isn't doing it for me, stuck in the backfield with the crashers. The 908 is probably better since it kept passing me, TS050 is pretty slow on the straight and needs to draft someone that can stay on the road

I have been off the daily races while I have been focusing on the two last Manufacturers racing leagues that I have really enjoyed. But now there is a break and Interlagos in GR3 is my strongest so why not jump in ?
Two races tonight with a 3rd and a win. Not bad with some sweet points that brought me over 25K for the first time in a while :gtpflag:

The race below is from my win.

I’m not sure if I should put in qual for c race or not. Looks like I am gonna try the Sauber.
Race A and B I set times.
I think I might run the MClaren on B race.
A race...Man I love Tsukuba, but man I hate turn 1 divebombs...

Just got home from work and tried another C race. Pitting will make you lose (most likely). I just had to try it, to find out. The pit stop took longer than I expected. I believe it was about 33 seconds. I lost by 17 seconds, and my overall race time was about 15 seconds slower than fuel saving with fuel mapping. Won't be trying that again.

It would be nice if they could come up with a C race where everybody had to stop. I hate fuel economy races.

Decided to see how I stacked up in Race A qualifying. After 32 laps I could only muster up a 1:11.894 with an optimal of 1:11.786. Kept getting slightly faster sectors at the beginning of the lap and then would screw it in the last corner. That many laps in a row burned me out so I'm gonna chill for the night and do my first race tomorrow...

I'm afraid you'll have to switch to manual for this one. The majority of the time, short shifting is the far superior fuel saving strategy compared to playing with the fuel map. The only exceptions are cars with no power in mid-range RPMs.

About fuel economy races in general... I've thought about it, and I've come to the conclusion that they can only force a pitstop on tires as it is right now. If they make fuel last for half of the race when driving normally, we'll just have these fuel saving trains where everyone's just sitting in each other's slipstream in FM6. Fuel should barely take you to the end, so the element of fuel saving is still somewhat there but not to the extent that it is right now (you can only go 80% distance if you drive normally). As for tires, people tend to go for the least possible amount of stops, even if this means they'll end up driving around like my grandmother towards the end of the race. I think that's because pitstops are too long and lose merit. To me, the time taken to get to your pit stall at La Sarthe seems enough to drive through the pitlane twice over.

Bottom line, people usually opt to save fuel or tires rather than make a pitstop and drive more aggressively, which is unenjoyable but would likely be improved if pitstops were made shorter.

Daily B.
I never liked Interlagos (I "can't see" the infield corners :( ) but I tried it with the Jaguar (whooa...slippery) and the Viper.
I made a few really stupid mistakes (first corner too wide and spun out on the grass at least three times...) and my favourite: ran wide on corners to leave room for the others avoiding contacts, even if I had the position.
