Some good racing for the most part in Race B, I find the beetle very good as it can carry serious mid corner speed. In saying that, I'll have a whinge about penalties.

1) Some bumble head decides he wants to pass me through the esses, now this is a bad idea full stop but if you're going to try it, howling up my left side JUST as I turn right (so my car is drifting left) through the very last high speed part of the esses .. is insane. I tag him and cop 5 seconds. Why not tail me then jump down the inside before the fast chicane?

2) I am chasing p1 really hard, we are close on pace and he hasn't made a mistake. Through the awkward chicane before the end of the lap he takes a touch too much curb, spins and i swerve around him. he BARELY clips my rear end, and I mean the lightest of touches ... i cop 3 seconds and drop to 4th. Like really? He lost it way before he hit me. Annoying.
 
Matchmaking could only gather 8 players for the 8:20 am race (Tokyo), including SR.A and SR.B. I finished second with the fastest lap, could have been first but as so many time I got bumped out of the way by a much slower driver thinking he can take the position back by not braking (and he could as usual)

However after the race I get called the worst kind of driver by this individual.

It's your own lag, which is probably why neither of us got penalties. Don't go fish tailing through the tunnel to then brake too late.

I would try race B, but look at the leaderboards... Supra, Supra, Supra, Supra. I can't drive the thing since they hacked it to make it the fastest in the hands of aliens. Not really interested in a Gr 3 one make especially at a track I am really not so hot at and has its fair share of dangerzones...

Supra is awesome for Yamagiwa, I'm in love with this car. It has this thing where it turns its front end sharply when you lift your foot off the break, helps to clear the chicane and penultimate corner.

Yes, you have to be super gentle on the throttle (or just turn TCS to 1 or 2 for the last two sectors), but it's so rewarding to drive smoothly.
 
Race C seems to have become incredibly dirty as the week has gone on. I'm wondering if people are getting frustrated at the lack of overtaking opportunities and are just throwing it up the inside at whatever corner they can. I've done 3 races, spun around in the first two and the third was a super hard lobby, did well to finish I think 13th.

Down 2k DR today :rolleyes:

Back on topic, my favourite Statham film is probably Snatch. That or Gnomeo & Juliet.

How could i forget about this one. I change my vote....

9am race was good. @Sven Jurgens was there, he got fast lap. Pretty uneventful race for me. A slight tap in the hairpin first lap and i was alone at the front from there on. Need more coffee and weed if i wanna challenge sven for fast laps lol

I didn't want to like the Supra, but dayum! I've come to love that thing, especially at Yamagiwa. And this is coming from a guy that really favors the mid engined Gr. 3 cars in the game. I'd done lap after lap after lap qualifying in the Ferrari but just couldn't get it do to what I needed. Jumped in the Supra and after just a handful of laps i'd shaved a full 2 seconds off my qualifying time.

Fingers crossed, but I may just escape the D Rank purgatory because of it this week.

I really wish people didn't divebomb or were more aware of their surroundings. I'm getting penalties I shouldn't and punted to the back of the track too often for no reason. I should be DR C on this race alone already but I'm wavering between 3rd place finish and dead last.

PD should make SR S mean something. As it is anyone can get in with a couple clean laps. Frustrating.

Am I wrong or does it take shortshiftening to be fast? I run auto on the ds4

Nah a 1.36 is DR b pace, mid B actually.

See my post above, I agree re. awareness, there's this whole "I am faster so will try to pass wherever i am on track". Well no, can you wait a few turns until we are in a proper passing zone? Morons with zero race craft.

And on a side note I now believe my natural habitat is D/S. I qualified for race B on Monday with a 1:36:8 in the Porsche RSR, and been a second slower all week, alternating between the Porsche and the Jag.

On my race last night that time would have had you start P3 on the grid, your improved 1:36.3 would have you P2.

And there was thunder thunder thunder over Yamagiwa. Thunder was his engine, and white lightning was his load. The law never got him cause the devil got him first.. Last night's Race B was run like bootleggers running from the law....iffin y'alls idea of a bootlegger was Rosco P Coltrain and the law was Boe and Luke Duke .....:crazy:

I managed to marginally beat my qualy time with the Supra. That sent me to the dizzying heights of P11/16 on a grid of my peers.

Race starts and T1 was a pretty sedate..... then came the uphill run through the esses and the insanity begins. I'm glad for ghosting :scared:. Cruised past the wreckage, and again at the second set of uphill esses. No clean race bonus due to a bit of rally cross action trying to avoid the carnage, but I managed to maintain forward momentum. No penalties, and a P5 finish. Like @RacingGrandpa says "Enjoying race B in the DR D ranks, everyone run what they feel like." so no META :dopey:.

SR blue, DR up about 500. Another day above Dr 1 :dopey:.
 
Great fun racing with @Dairyworker this morning. Actually in the last race there was only 1 driver I didn't know yet and he was clean as well. Awesome race, approaching the chicane in a tight clump and all carefully merging into single file to take it without a hitch. So awesome when everyone can keep the car under control and works together.

Before @Dairyworker showed, after many many second places

@Dairyworker won the race after, well done!, and I only made it to 5th. However it was a great close race with another clean driver from the back and I managed to improve my best lap time to 1:52.883, finally through the 1:53 barrier! Great morning! Happy Fridays!

Because i've done so much time in the Ferrari, I tend to really wind the Supra out. I'll play around with short shifting to see if I can improve upon my qualifying times. Oh yeah, and... Because of that much better qualifying time, I've consistently started in the top 3 with it this week and I do have to say, being in the front of the pack is a completely different race. I'm usually a middle-ish of the pack type of guy. A lot more toddlers, and brawling there.

Well, where I race it will be somewhere between 5 and 14. Midfield mangle

On the subject of running what ever you feel like I even tried out the Mustang, but that was too cumbersome in the esses. Might try the 4C too

4C will get smoked. Try the Jag for something different. I do find the beetle really good to race with as it doesn't get easily unsettled and carries huge corner speeds.
 
I had a string of good races this morning. I think @Sven Jurgens was in every one of em. Was great to share the track with, and actually even race with you at a few points

the first few races were real nice but, as the ruffians started showing up i had a hard time keeping my focus, which is really needed for this combo. I had a guy nearly punt me in the hairpin of lap one in one race, who knows what his intentions where but deliberate or not, i saw his little triangle just in time to hit the brakes and watch him sail accross my nose. Not only did it completely throw my corner exit completely off but, it totally psyched me out for the rest of the races especially as more and more of the agressive guys showed up, i just couldn't keep my mind on what i needed to be doing.

Might try again before i go to work.

A bit different down here among us peasants, we can't use ANY car to the limit. But tried it, and I was slower. For kicks I bought the META. And on second lap was 1:36:8, so room to be faster than I thought.
 
Well, I did have racing planned for today, then I got in an argument with a YouTuber...

...then I opened my email and found I've had my application to a uni in the Netherlands accepted, and now have until the end of the month to sort everything out and, hopefully, move to a new country and study Automotive Engineering...

...panic mode engaged.
 
Well earlier I was right about managing the 1:35s today in Race B, and did so with a cool 1:35.5xx, optimal 1:35.2xx.

So I decided to try that out in a race, and after a couple clean races with finishes in 5th or so I was finally poised to get out of DR D for good. Next race had me starting at #2, then first 1st place botched the esses enough to allow a pass. Kept it clean all the way, and hit first victory and DR C! Ay!

You can get pretty far just being clean, honestly. A good quali helps a lot too to avoid all those punters.

Now watch me lose it all next week as I'm exposed for the fraud I am.

These are my stats. 3 major sr drops caused by me lashing out in anger.
My basic idea

1 do your best in qual

2 drive consistent without touching others

3 if someone behind is clearly faster don’t fight them

That’s pretty much it. That was such a good post you made and I agree.
I talk about vengeance a lot but rarely lash out in sport mode.
FWIW by far the hardest group for me to get used to was B. At first I thought no way I would ever get past it. Over time you learn to survive in country.
My first fifty or so online races I was a nervous wreck...

I was wondering something, even if I may've been a bit slow to realize this: do you think the reason why the daily races not only are ranked, but share a DR/SR ladder with the championships, is because the championship races use points that are based on the DR/SR of the field you get matched with, and thus, increasing your DR in the daily races means more potential points in a championship race?

Do you think restructuring the championships, daily races, and the mechanics of the ranking system in itself would potentially improve some things? I'm not too sure, myself - there's a lot of ways I could see things being done differently, but I'm unsure which ones would necessarily result in a net improvement, let alone a significant one. There do seem to be a lot of factors potentially at play here, from both the perspectives of the players/competitors and the developer/hosts. Unless I were aware of all (or at least most) of the necessary factors to consider, I don't think I can really make especially good suggestions.

Wow, this is impressive! You didn't stay in D or C for very long. I've been in D Since late June. I clearly didn't heed #1 until two days ago - which is do your best in qual.

FIA races do give out points based on strength of field. The formula for the winner's points in a regular 20 player lobby is (average lobby DR) / 24. :)

That is pretty much how I try to do. There are two kinds of races where I always loose DR/SR. The ones where I get carried away and race the car in front of me instead of the track and then the 2:30 in the night races where I make mistakes because I am tired.

When it comes to SR/DR preservation, qualifying is king!

In the past, I didn't fully understand the SR/DR and stayed in and around the 28-38k zone. I'd get knocked down to 15k here and there, but didn't understand how people were able to get to A+ (50k+ DR). For qualifying, I'd spend 15-20 minutes to get within 2 seconds of the top 10 and then race for the week on that. I'd generally start 5th-9th and would be in the trenches the whole time. Sure, I could make places up, but I'd also take alot of contact hurting my rating. A year of that and I stayed in that same SR/DR range.

Two weeks ago I started a new line of thinking of trying to qualify in the top 10, or less than .500 off the back end and now I've seen my rating go from 15k+ to 55k (A+) in that time. Granted the 15k wasn't a true indication but with all the banging that's were it started for me. With the qualifying, I've been able to start 1st-3rd in nearly every race and the people I generally race are equally quick, so there isn't much contact at all. Lots of races where we start and finish as we started which is good for the SR/DR, if you start well. Also I've been able to get some massive clean race streaks which can't hurt either.

The moral of the story, put a strong emphasis on quali.
