Oh jeez, Mount Panorama is on tonight as well, 15 laps GR.3. Perhaps that's better than racing on the ring in the evening, or maybe the trouble makers will be gone for better races. More likely that the trouble makers will be the ones left on the ring during the FIA races.

How does this tire thing work? It says required mediums, but softs are allowed. So at least one stint with mediums or 20 sec penalty?
Damn, I'm always busy when the FIA races are on. That sounds like a fun race.

Question: instead of making tuning an option for races, would it potentially help if BoP also made the final gear ratio uniform across the cars? Not the ratios for individual gears or the auto-set top speed setting, just the final gearing. It could be good in bridging the gap when cars with some final gear ratios may be better depending on the course. It also seems like downforce is already uniform across the various racecars as-is, so that doesn't seem like it'd be as much of an issue as I had previously thought.

We've done this one, right?

Another question, is whether making the power and weight, or power/weight ratios relatively uniform would also be a good idea? For specifically making the power/weight ratio uniform, I could see this requiring less radical changes to a car's power and weight in itself, so you could preserve a lot more of its original stats, and thus, its driving characteristics. Some notable examples that comes to mind is the Bugatti Veyron Gr.4, which is notably heavier than other Gr.4 cars, or how the Group C cars have a lot more power than the other Gr.1 cars. They may not need as much change to their stats if focus is given to the power/weight ratio, rather than unifying the actual power and/or weight of the cars in that class.

Sounds like you want a silhouette series where the cars look different but have the same performance? Same gearing, same downforce, same power to weight, you're just reducing the variables and making everything more and more similar.

The different power to weights, grip levels, braking performance, agility, tyre wear etc are all part of the cars' personalities. The way they are strong in different places, Interlagos last week, for example, is a big part of the appeal. BoP is designed to level the playing field but you're always going to have some tracks that suit some cars better than others. This is just physics; It's the same in real life.

Mixing tyre compounds also counts towards the requirement.

I'll go with the GTR. ;)

I had another run in with this driver, couldn't keep quiet anymore. (Condensed the chat a bit)
PNEGSpm.jpg

He blames lag, but come on, I saw him come up and plow right into traffic at least 5 times in the race, then crash back again. And it wasn't just this race, I saw him barge passing in previous races as well. Typical blame the other drivers. Fast and careless.

He did deliver me 3rd place by taking out a whole bunch of cars  The lancer is pretty slow. I was drafting 4th for most of lap 2 then the car had just enough power to get far enough ahead of the Vantage for 4th place to concede. My second run in the Lancer had all clear road in lap 2 and I didn't get under 8:34 with that car.

Bathurst is up soon, what car though.

Mixed evening at t'Big Willow. Started with the Trophy this time. Thought I'd see how much faster I could get the 'meta' around. Answer - no faster than the 17.998 I set in the 86. It goes around that last corner quicker no doubt, but never enough to claw back the time I kept losing through sector two. I actually enjoyed running it though so went racing.

Race 1 - P3 > P15/15
Upto P2 until P4 dumped P3 and myself into the dust. He got a penalty. The 3 of us ended up in the 'traffic' from then on and I came off worst. Ended up going full bore through the final turn on the last lap as I'd got bored. Drifted sideways through the dust, hit the 'bump' and finished the race facing backwards in the pit lane. @Pigems @sturk0167 - you'd have been proud.

Race 2 - P2 > P3
Was pushing P1 hard but got a bit wide in places and the rear end of that Trophy gets loose very very quickly. Managed to just about rescue a last lap excursion but it wasnt enough to keep P2.

So I decided I couldn't trust myself to not bin it in the Trophy and returned to the 86. Managed an 18.020 pre-race so my 'pace' was still there or there abouts. Well...

Race 3 - P1 > P1
Another flag to flag. P2 pushed me again, but again he blinked first early lap 2 and with a +5 sec buffer I set about trying to secure fastest lap and CRB again... I managed neither. Finished just over a second ahead at the flag after serving a .5 sec penalty for pushing a bit too hard. Troubled only by myself!!! It could have ended worse, but then, that's what a buffer's for, right?! Original P2 got fastest lap finishing P5. Could have been a very different race.

4 career victories. 2 in 2 days...

3/4 at Big Willow... all 4 in Gr.4...

This is how I roll, apparently!

Next time you get bored during a race, do this. The other guys will not be expecting it.

Edit: As a matter of fact, I will definitely do this during a race, tomorrow.
I'll do it on lap 1, too. Hopefully when I do it, I'll be jumping over people.
I'll save the replay, to see people freaking out, and the ensuing chaos.

I've just done this evenings Manufacturers Series race and won from pole, unchallenged so that meant no contact and i didn't go off track once, in short it was a perfect drive (for me!). Yet when i finished i was given a 20 second penalty. Luckily i had a 27 second lead so i still kept the win. But then as others came over the line loads of them had the same penalty. What's going on?

Geez. How long is the race?

The FIA races thread would be much more helpful for you boys: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/threads/2019-20-fia-exhibition-series-race-discussion.376323/page-32

I think that would negate the very idea of BOP. But on Sunday I will be in an endurance race where there will be no BOP, all will run 100/100. I can maybe say if it works as a bop afterwards

If I read the rules correctly, all other tuning will be restricted. The only things we can choose may be tire compound.

I am so ready to yeet through Eau Rouge!
I lost respect for myself by saying this.

I lost respect for you for saying that. But, this update is gonna be off the chain!

Metas are Nissan GTR and Ford GT.

Thanks! I guess I'll go Lexus! I thought the first one started at 18:40, was 18:00 instead, missed it. So back to the ring and the GT-R is up next on my list :yuck: Oh well, drive a dirty car during dirty hour. I'll post my stats for this week now before they get ruined in half an hour

All from non qualifying runs on the ring :)

I'm proud of you just reading about it. 👍

I wasn't impressed until the barrel rolls began. I only flipped my 86 onto it's roof. I'm such a disgrace to TPC. :indiff:

Drat missed Fia again, too much fun on the Nord. More more chance later.

I survived the Audi R8, currently my second worst car after the Renault. It keeps trying to kill me in the 3rd gear undulating corners. I managed to get one decent ish lap out of it sort of staying mostly on the road, a slow 8:39. A 12th and 7th place finish.

Of course turn up the pressure when I'm in a car I can hardly keep going the right way. 3 wide through the left right part of the NGP section.

Driving by radar. At the end the demise of @williams_v_r He thought picking the Renault RS 01 wasn't punishment enough so he started on heavy wet tires  Hopefully I didn't lag into you on your screen but I guess you were doomed anyway :/

Capped off the night before last fairly well at Big Willow with a few top 5 finishes.

This being my best result.

I'm so tempted to hit the track right now, but it's the tail end of dirty hour for me. For some reason racing gets better after 11pm. Gonna give it about 1 more hour. Then it's on! :mischievous:

Oh yeah, I'm at my highest DR with over 43k buckaroos :dopey:.

Can’t believe this last mistake I made on the ring! At the big hairpin at T6 I was messing with the fuel mix and FORGOT about the turn lol... ended up in the sand from 7th to 16th or something.. finished in 12 or 13... nice to see familiar faces there... will do all over tomorrow

I did three more races in the Viper. First two were punt fests, 10:30 pm was finally cleaned up enough to set a good second lap. I finished 5th with clean race bonus, nice stable car, flows well although it suffers from some understeer on the Nord. Top speed is great, it's faster than last time this combo was on but ultimately it didn't make my top 10. The Audi adventure took some DR away, Viper made it back plus another 300, up to 42.8K now.

My top 5 atm (times between brackets are from last time this combo was on) second lap time.

8:24.674 (8:29.450) Corvette C7, decent on fuel
8:26.083 (8:31.016) Ford GT, good on fuel
8:26.391 (8:26.630) AMG, good on fuel
8:26.532 (8:30.977) Citroen GT, decent on fuel
8:27.519 (8:31.022) WRX, good on fuel

Bottom 5

8:31.523 (8:28.119) Beetle, decent on fuel
8:32.082 (8:26.508) Lexus RC F '16, good on fuel
8:32.140 (8:33.610) Nissan GT-R, decent on fuel
8:39.310 (8:33.871) Audi R8, great on fuel, slides in 3rd gear corners
8:52.070 (8:30.313) Renault RS01, great on fuel, spins out lap 2 for no reason

I'm happy the GT-R is at the bottom  It sucks in traffic unless you want to barge people out of the way :ouch:

There's still a couple tricky cars coming up. I've been going in order from best to worst from last time. So what's left are the cars that ran out of fuel (M6/650GTS) and the hard to control cars (Huracan/Ferrari/NSX) However those last ones have all become more stable and I've seen plenty Huracans on the track. So perhaps there will be a winner in there. Oh and the RCZ which got stuck in chaos last time.

Too tired now for the mountain, oh well next time. N24 comes first!

Haha. I've been racing so much I've zoned out a couple times and gone into auto drive in my mind. Then suddenly snap back and have no clue where I am on the track. So far it hasn't led to any accidents yet. I've done it on other tracks though. Wondering why tcs is back on in GR.4, flip through the pages to turn it off and drive straight into the wall

I only use the fuel map in 'emergencies' on the last straight when I have spend too much fuel in lap one to have 50% left for lap 2. I'm pretty dialed in to what percentage left goes with each part of the track. Radar for T1, then switch to FM display when entering the Nord to keep an eye on the percentage.

Erm... ya. This is why I don't faff around with fuel mixtures while driving... it's too distracting! I leave it on 1 and short shift... *that* at least i can handle .
