With Spa released there's more reason for me to avoid the daily races this week.
They haven't existed at all for me!

Spa is a nice track and all but not enough of a distraction for me from N24. I'd like to see a Gr.3 race B or C there next week. I might look for lobbies (@Pigems? :P) later if there's more than one person in them and they're not drifting instead.

I knew I had to do an in-race jump today, but for the first race, I just wanted to do a regular race, and maybe get a top 3.

I was doing ok. Coming to the end of lap 4, I hadn't performed all that well, but I had 3rd place locked down, as there was a gap of a couple seconds ahead of, and behind me.

Final turn of lap 4, I hit the inside curb just a little too much, and it bounced me to the outside. Couldn't save it. It's especially difficult to save once the tires get dirty. So, since that race was shot, I started hearing Van Halen lyrics in my head (Ah, might as well jump. JUMP!)

This clip shows how I blew my race, then switches to the view of the car behind me, as I channeled my inner David Lee Roth.

@RacingGrandpa still using your livery until I get a win. 👍

The slide was just as epic as the launch!!!

I got to the Huracan and Ferrari on my list for the N24. I'm still no good at them at the Nord, plus it was chaos for a while. My notes say it all.

12:30 S10 F09 8:58.354 SR 99 DR 42578 No Stop, Huracan, bumped off 5+ times, death trap
13:00 S12 F08 8:43.235 SR 99 DR 42407 No Stop, Huracan, bumped off lap 2, death trap
13:30 S11 F10 8:48.799 SR 94 DR 41612 No Stop, Ferrari, bumped off multiple times, 5 sec wall penalty, 3 sec re-entry unghoster penalty
14:00 S14 F08 8:50.540 SR 99 DR 41265 No Stop, Ferrari, bumped off lap 1, keeps sliding
14:30 S15 F06 8:37.180 SR 99 DR 41492 No Stop, Ferrari, punted lap 1, decent 2nd lap

I'll call 8:37 decent for the Ferrari, the thing keeps trying to kill me. Poblem is, get bumped off early and the tire wear adds up quickly. Every time the back brakes out it gets worse and worse. Lap 1 is fine, halfway through lap 2 the tires are already bad enough to start sliding. I guess my thumb is too twitchy to save the tires enough to keep these cars in line.

Time to get my kids now, NSX next. That was great in the rain on Tokyo, should hopefully do better than the Ferrari even though it was worse last time.

That game brings back so many memories... My gosh, I miss playing Burnout Paradise.

I’ll have a Spa lobby open tonight for a while, cycling through different car classes for the races. I’ll let everyone know when it’s open. :)

I think I'm gonna call it for the week. Nurburgring 24h is getting too stressful. I've been very patient when it comes to overtaking, but almost every race I get stuck behind someone substantially slower, and I try to wait it out until the long uphill section because I'm not trying to ruin anyone's race. And every single time, they block me. And these are drivers that have otherwise been pretty respectful, but for some reason they just don't understand that you're not supposed to block someone from passing on a straight out of the slipstream. It's one thing if you take a defensive line going into the next corner, but when the straight is two miles long, you cannot block someone who has a run on you. I've had to pass on the grass three times today. It's too much on top of the usual chaos that already goes down in that race.

I had a good run at least. I won seven times this week, which is still kind of shocking considering my average before this has been about one win per month. I need to decompress through the weekend, especially if Spa is going to be in the rotation next week, I want to go into that relaxed haha. Still some of the best racing I've had with this game or any, frustrations aside.

Call me a heathen or whatever, but I have never raced on Spa. With the track options we already have can someone explain the huge cult following it has? I can understand lots of reasons for other tracks including GT originals but as someone who skipped from GT4 to GTS with nothing in between I don't get the hype. Anything I have missed about it?

Just the fact that it's probably the greatest circuit on the planet.

Why is that? I’m genuinely curious, I don’t know much about real racing.

I just like it because it was one of the tracks with dynamic weather and time in GT5 (or maybe 6). Great for endurance races.

The layout, the topgraphy, the location itself, the history, the weather etc etc.

It's an amazing magical place, I love it. Prefer it to the Nurburgring. Not driven around it IRL yet, unlike the 'ring.

Schools are out, punted by a GT-R, always the same with that car.

The engine braking is severe in both of them. The Ferrari is pretty good at using one gear higher than normal when needed. Both cars should have their brake balance left alone at zero because brake bias isn't the issue.

Try to "left foot brake". They both benefit from having the throttle still somewhat open under braking to balance the car through the corner.

My current Q time was set with the Huracan and I have had success with the Ferrari in races. I have raced the Huracan at Nurb yet because I have been trying to give other cars some track time, but I will be sure to give it a try at least once.

Good luck. They are fine lap 1 but my not so subtle hands degrade the tires too fast, lap 2 is causing me issues. Also having the throttle somewhat open is not really working for me. I don't have enough finesse with DS4.

It's weird, I had not trouble with them in the rain at Tokyo, yet the Nurb the back keeps getting away on me. It's probably the speed. I'm having issues in the 100 to 140 kph range which is a lot of corners on the Nurb.

Something else, I know how it works, but it still irks me every time and another reason not to care much about DR. The race before last I get disconnected halfway through lap 1, -1800 DR. The next race I finish 4th from 13th, +200 DR. It's about 10 good races to over come one disconnect. It would be a lot faster with qualifying yet you reach that 'balance' at some point regardless.

I think I've got a video that can beat that. :D

But my video can't beat that. I've never seen the launch ramp at the final turn.

I hope the guy behind you got a hearty laugh out of that.

With my new psn name I have to try this!! And glad you like the livery :)

Sounds like you would enjoy the rally tracks. :P

Better to burn out than to fade away...

That's Def Leppard, not Van Halen.

Check the PS store. I picked up the remastered version for $5 a few months ago.

It has its own share of challenges when it comes to mastery. Some people enjoy saying that they car run with the best at any track, so you gotta learn them all & Spa is a big one.

Just the fact that it's probably the greatest circuit on the planet.

That's debatable.

I think a lot of it comes down to Eau Rouge/Radillion, which should provide a lot of entertainment and SR Downs in the dailies.

It'll be worth the laughs. Also, divebombers.

Did a couple races on Race A yesterday
Race 1: Pole position by a whole second. Absolutely destroyed second place and got bumped up to DR C
Race 2: Started mid pack. Had a nice little battle with this Croatian guy, until I got a bit too aggressive into turn one and went a bit R4M_Shadow_GT. I slowed down on the frontstretch to let him past but there was some miscommunication as to which side he was overtaking me on and he crashed into me. I apologised to him after the race and he seemed pretty sympathetic, and knew my disgusting divebomb was just a case of getting a bit too excited into turn one. He did give me a good tip, though: If you’re slowing down to let someone past, turn on your indicators to tell them which side you want them to pass you on
