Is PD even capable of this?
That looked about as chaotic as I was expecting. How are some people finding driving around an oval so difficult
They think "Pffft all you do is turn left! How hard can it be?" Meanwhile I win a dozen or more races in a row here when normally I go weeks without a single win.
Decisions decisions. BMB long time no see, SF19 is going to be fun at Spa. First nice day in spring, getting up to 13c today. Coffee first, stupid DST. Too early!

Does it work in race as well? :banghead:
Actually if it's anything like the last time we had a Daily at BMB (C2 Corvette I believe), yes, wall-riding works in the race. I actually didn't see too many people doing it in the races I was in back then though.

Well I am a happy bunny!

Got my wish for Super Formula's at Spa and I just posted a couple of pics over in the liveries section of the site of what I'll be racing so if
you see a blue/red Sonic/Eggman Super Formula in your race it's me!

From my initial qualifying it looks like I need to work on my braking points though as I see the top time is a 1.54 and I have only 2:00 flat
but if it's a grid start I guess the qualifying time may not be so important as getting through the chaos of T1...

I've no idea. I don't think I've seen wall penalties / short cut penalties work differently between qualifying and a race before (other than getting a penalty just before the start/finish line not registering until the next lap) so I guess so.

To be fair, it's not so much "wall riding" as just "hitting the wall in turn 1 to slow and turn the car".......

First race at Spa, total crash fest lap 1, as expected. Lap 2 I think things had settled down, nope some Canadian rammed me off again. I return the favor and thus an epic 6 lap battle has started drawing another (1 bar 277ms) Canadian into the fight. So finally in lap 7 I get to race, finally having left the punters behind. For 5 laps nothing but slowing down early for the corner, let them through the ghost or get punted lol. We should all 3 be in SR.E after that, but we only had a red S (surprised we even had that with this system, I only saw one penalty pop up)

Spa pinball confirmed. Maybe BMB roller derby later. Next race at Spa ready.

Is there any strategy required on fuel or tyres or is it simply a straightforward puntfest?

Straightforward punt fest  Rev as much as you can to shed fuel weight, and you get plenty of boost as well this race, don't forget to use it.

My second race went a lot better. Chaos at the start which I managed to get through unscathed. One American rammed me off in the long left, I got him back since the penalty system doesn't do ****. Not race ruining (we finished 2nd and 3rd) but just to let him know I bite back. (No further issues rest of the race). I had some good passes, swapping places on the straight to help us both get ahead, and a great contact free battle with a Brazilian for the last 4 laps. I was slowly closing in, had him but had a 0.5 sec penalty from the long left. That turn is so broken in the sf19. You can go wide in the middle and the sf19 has no trouble getting back on the road, penalty free. Yet when you go a little bit wide (just over the kerb) at the end to avoid one of those cars shooting back, you get 0.5 sec penalty...

Penalty served, I'm behind the Brazilian again, final lap. I'm close behind him with the final chicane coming up. I take the outside, slightly ahead. I know he's going to try to out brake me through the inside. I brake a little early for an early turn in, he overshoots a little and I pass him in the chicane to take 3rd place. Great race.

I've not raced for weeks but Spa's siren call is pulling my SR towards its rocks.

I finally got my K Speed Score up to 88 last week, it takes friggen forever to get it to move once you have a bunch of times set.

Yep, despite none of the A/S races in FIA last night being clean, I still had some good finishes (from last). I would usually end up 5th or 6th in the first lap just avoiding the wreckage then already get bumped off at the right turn after the second chicane, in Ascari or Parabolica with a penalty for good measure. So back to the back on lap 2 and the penalty zone. And then slowly gaining positions again, mostly from others fighting each other. Even starting at the back had no guarantees of getting through T1 unscathed. I let go of the gas brake real early, just casually follow the last cars only to get bumped off by cars spawning behind me, going solid in the chicane and either leaving me in the sand or with a 7 second penalty :banghead:

It's Monza with twitchy cars on a laggy server, it's a **** show the first 2 laps. But lap 3 you can start to breath again and still have 12 laps of actual racing to look forward to. There were still plenty people ready to barge pass, dive bomb or hump your bumper, but also those with which I had awesome close contact free racing, fully synchronized around the track trading positions a few times. It is possible to go around the track with only a few feet between the cars at all times, but too many people think that sticking a nose in gets them there faster instead of waiting for a moment where you can make a pass stick. Too many times I got up to two cars hindering each other, then one of them falls back. I pass him and want to get on to close in on the second one, only for the one I just passed forcing me to go defensive so we both slow down and the other gets away. By the time I shake the hindering car, the other has already had time to get back into hot lapping mode and has increased the gap beyond draft range. In contrast, while I was glued to another car while swapping positions on the straight, we made up time to the next car and both profited in the end. The dirty driving is not the most annoying anymore, it's the constant contesting every corner even when there is no possible chance of making a clean pass. Yet let them go ahead, they can't keep it together while in front :banghead: more time lost.
yep like i have stated in the past a fight to the death for every position. Last race on brands last night was trying to pass for the lead on the final lap i was on 2 lap mediums 1st place on hards dont even know how many laps he had them on blocking weaving when it finally occurred to me that he did not use all compounds so just stuck to his bumbler and won the race via 20 sec pntly he was served. Moral of the story stupid is as stupid does

You wont catch me in race b with the current slipstream and penalty system. I won’t even do it with my alt.

This is the type of race that should have full damage imo. Just to sort out the idiots right away.

Aw come on man! At lease give it a go on the Alt. I really thought BMB would be the 🤬 show, it turns out Spa is where that is.

Got to see @Sven Jurgens at Spa a few minutes ago. Started BEHIND him for once. :dopey: Nice moves dude!
Hopefully as people get use to the combo the racing will get better later in the week.

Spa definitely seems like a **** show as well but I’m more comfortable with the high df cars than gr3 anyway.

Edit: not sure what you guys use for the overtake button but I mapped mine to the circle button on my wheel and it seems to be the easiest way to do it. I’d rather no overtake button at all tbh.

I also use it same way I used KERS in the old F1 games. I only really deploy it in 3rd or 4th gear when I’m not racing anyone. I feel like it’s a waste if you just use it in 6th.

Had my first race at Spa, Qt was 1:58:X, started me as p6. Takes a wide, wide line in t1, get the front pointing towards Way Rouge and think I actually made it through T1 and WHAM!! T-boned and pushed off. No penalty but p14.
Runs as fast as I safely can, holding back behind 3 guys battling up Kemmel, passing them in the slow right hander where they all ran wide. At the end of L2 I'm p7, L5 p5. Pits (probably unnecessarily. It was for overtake refill, but pressed "do not refill" so nothing happened there) for new tyres, came out p10, Was p7 again on L8, passes p6 coming out of Eau Rouge as I got a much better line, but he uses his overtake to stick his nose up the inside at the end of Kemmel. Not enough to pass, but enough to just tap me and fall back. So I get 2 seconds, passed the line as p6 bit was p8 in the list and got a red S too...

I made a mental note of his name. Will look for him.

Anyway, had to buy the car and make a livery.

Edit: I forgot to mention the 4 second penalty I got coming out of the last chikane, overtaking on the outside, having overlap and all and he spins right in front of me so I push him off. Nothing to do to prevent it, still 4 seconds. So totally 6 seconds penalty, SR down from 99 to 82 in one race! Ouch..

8 laps is more than enough. The outside car getting the penalty still applies here, so you are risking a penalty and dive bomb on you if you are on the outside racing line.

Yeah, had someone do that on the final curve at BMB earlier. I get the 1 second penalty and SR down. Only contact in the entire race, and dropped from 99 to 97.

Started 15th, finished 5th and gained 2040 DR points.

Sad to see my favourite GR3, EVO is the Meta at the moment, so going with what did well last time BMB was around, Ferrari.

Had a so so night.

First race started pole and easy win. Next race started P4 but by lap 3 everyone in front of me had messed up and left me a healthy gap. But I got careless and a lap later biffed it in T1, didn’t reset me, down to P9 with a 5sec penalty to add insult to injury. Now P12, working my way back and guy tried to divebomb me into Sheenes.......how he thought that would work is beyond me. So I rage punted him next corner and quit lol. Had a easy win and tossed it.

Race 3......just take it easy.....start 3rd up to first by lap 3.....biffed it into T2.....that was not easy. Dropped to 9th but started putting in some solid laps and made a few amazing passes to get myself back to 3rd. What really sucks......P1 forgot to get Hards, so only lost by 1.4. If only I hadn’t biffed it.

Ok ok, time to get your crap together. Time to smoke a bowl.

Jumped back in for the last two races before the race switches to Spa. Starting P3/P2 in each race with a very fast RSR in front of me (we both biffed the prior races) First race jumped to 2nd right away and sat behind the RSR “iiiunitedstatesiii” was his name I think. Stayed within 2sec till he pit on lap 8, I went in on 9 and grabbed Hards then right in for mediums. I timed it wrong and P3/4 got me as I came out of the pits. No worries they still need to pit. Had a fun battle with them and then said goodbye on lap 13 when they pit. This cost me time to P1. Luckily he forgot to put for Hards, got a lucky win after all.

Final race of the week. Starting P2 behind the same RSR. I knew going in this would be tough. He struggled a bit more with tire wear in prior races so my plan was to use his draft and preserve my tires. We were running low 23’s high 22’s so pushing harder came with a higher risk and likelihood of mistakes or slowing each other down. My hope was to have fresher tires at the end of each stint so I could attack. He was very consistent on softs and I kept him between 1-2sec ahead, I knew passing him this stint wouldn’t happen without a screw up. So I decided to pit on either lap 6 or 7, but doing the opposite of whatever he did. Lap 6 he pit, so I did a flyer and came out right behind him, BUT with 1 lap fresher mediums.

Now it’s lap 8. I opted to hold back, sit in his slipstream and save my tires more. The combo of pitting later and preserving tires meant I would have 2 laps fresher tires. End of lap 12 I’m right on his bumper and got a better run onto the front straight. Coming into T1 I decide to fake him out, made him think I was taking the outside line. But I eased into the brakes earlier and ducked under him for the inside line as he went wide due to his compromised line. Now we’re side by side heading to T1 but I’m on the inside. With fresher tires I built a 2sec gap and pit for Hards.

Great fun, and made up for my abysmal start to the night. Had a swing from 65k up to 66.5, down to 64k and back to 65.3k lol.

What this penalty rule is, it sure doesn't seem to apply to me. Got a 7s penalty for some guy hitting me from the outside coming down the downhill corkscrew section at Sardegna this past weekend and instant race ruined. Got another 2s penalty on a different race (same track) around the final turn. Or maybe I just suck at FIA races. Only lost about 10k DR this weekend.

Well Spa is fun until you're used as someone's braking cushion at the last chicane, reset back onto the track with no penalty for the dive bomber. He did this to gain 18th place. /facepalm

Am I the only one who thinks it's sad and embarrassing fighting so hard for back positions? I don't get it. I'll be racing it again, it's about time classes above Gr.3 was used here.

I did a few BMB's. This morning it was fine, but after noon it became more harsh. Raised some DR, but lost it later on. Still fun to race there. Be careful for the outerline. When they hit you from left behind, your back of the car hits the wall and... bammm 5 seconds for you.
Well, still lots of fun there in the Corvette
