Peterhansel one stage away from the win, leads De Villiers by 44 minutes.

Robby Gordon, somehow still going, destroyed the field by 14 minutes today to win the stage.

Sucks that he can win it but never say never as who knows what can happen. I just wish Robby was actually up there.

Today I went to the highway to see the cars pass and the one that got everyones attencion (apart from the Chilean pilots) was Robby's Hummer
I swear it was loud as 🤬
too bad I didnt get a picture of it...

Robby is a damn fine off-roader. I've seen clips from older Dakars and Bajas, amongst others, and he always seems to do well, but things just don't fall his way. I still wonder why he ran NASCAR all these years.

I guess it because he has a batter chance of generating regular money, and more of it, from sponsorship in NASCAR. It's obviously not worked out that way, so I could be wrong about that.

Actually it worked out well as even without a sponsor the 43 car makes around 30k or more a race, and Robby never did much last year but still brought home over 400k from NASCAR. Yet Dakar/Baja are not a get rich quick as I recall the winner of the Baja 1000 gets a check for I think 4k and thats the big boys.

Factory KTM racer Kurt Caselli has been killed in a crash in the Baja 1000, reports are that his death is possibly a result of one of the booby traps created by spectators to cause crashes.

RIP Kurt
