Well, obviously I'm happy that one of the Mini's had made it to the front.. but also the #313 of Orlando Terranova - the X-Raid X3CC has made it from 18th to 4th today.. good job..

Sainz won an appeal for a defective GPS unit.... the time deduction now puts him 5 minutes back in the lead. :(

Todays action should be kicking off soon in the car category.

Looks like he is giving it back to Peterhansel this stage with a slow time, bad news for X-Raid though Krzysztof Holowczyc (Not spellchecked) crashed and has hurt his back/ribs.

Yeah, shame for Krzysztof Hołowczyc, if I were to be supporting a specific driver in the Minis (other than the one who's the best chance of winning) it would be Krzysztof.

Peterhansel was only fastest over the first section of the stage today. Gordon's put in some impressive work too, but Al-attiyah seems to have been the quickest overall. More bad luck for Sainz maybe?
 
Some news on Carlos today:

"We won the stage and clawed four minutes back from Stéphane. And it could have been even better, but we stopped for a couple of minutes to help Carlos. It looked like he was having problems with the electronics and the engine cut-out, and since we couldn't do anything to about it, we kept going and didn't see any more cars until the finish line. The sand was very soft today and I decided not to go flat out because the car's very new and we still don't know how far it can go. No problems so far."

Funny the logic used to not go flat out in an unknown car but last year he wouldn't take that same advance!
 
Sainz has been demoted to 10th following further investigations by Dakar officials, although successful in appealing a fault with the GPS the decision has been reversed after finding the secondary GPS unit was functioning correctly.
 
Can't pretend I'm surprised but Robby Gordon lost another 5 hours today



Sainz was in trouble too and lost 2 and a half hours, not sure the cause but it may be a recurrence of yesterdays electric problems.
 
Bad news about Race2Recory, not much info from what I've seen, but for one head on crash and another car rolling whilst avoiding the crash something crazy must have gone on!

As for the rally...

Al-attiyah closing in on Peterhansel :nervous: .. 1m:18s after 14 hours!
 
I'm actually shocked at how well the buggy is doing honestly based on his past rides.

If it wasn't for the flop, I think Robby could might have had a really good shot at making a comeback. I'm still surprised at how random it kind of was.
 
Robby is showing how good of a driver he is and it would be awesome to see a comeback

I would like to see how Al-attiyah's buggy does in the argentinean stages but I'm going for Peterhansel on this one

And Chaleco Lopez is doing great on the bikes so thats great to hear :D
 
Torrential rain today means all the truck stage was canceled and the cars has been shortened to one of the checkpoints but there is an argument as to which one going on now, the decision will decide if Nasser holds a 2 minute lead or a 28 second deficit but most of the drivers are still stuck out on stage, De Villiers isn't attempting to cross a river and Al-Attiyah is stuck in the river on a rock.

You mean by rolling over his Hummer every Dakar ? hell of a driver yeah~

I like him and his crazy mentality but I wouldnt say he's a good driver on the dakar.

Peterhansel on the other end is dominating this dakar. Nasser is faster in raw speed but if you put navigation in the equation Peterhansel is just incredible.

Any idea if they went back to Stage 8 or 9 after yesterday was flooded out?

Robby Gordon gets told his stage times are multiplied by 3. Results is a 🤬 mouth in-car tirade.

 
Looks like Nassar once again won't finish in 2wd buggy! I don't get how they had little trouble in dunes and then in the WRC style stages he has engine problems.

Oh come on, no love for him? He is one you love or hate and I can't help but like him even if he does dumb things, he always gives everything he has.
 
That video is why I dislike him. Overzealous, obnoxious, loud, and his driving isn't what I'd call "Cautious". He probably gets along with Stephane Sarazin and Pastor Maldonado really well.*

In a way, his driving reminds me of Jeremy Clarkson.... POWERRRRRRRR! OH no, looks like I had (Insert calamity) happen again! How did that happen?

As bad as it sounds, me and my friend pay attention to the Dakar for the sole purpose of watching Robby Gordon act like... well, Robby Gordon.

"YEAH! AMURICA! I'll just take this dune at full spee... What? How did I end up on my roof? Clearly everyone else is at fault here"

*Best endurance team combination of all time.

The sad thing is that Robby has talent, his ego is just too big though so it brings it down.

If he has taken that dune at full speed he would have been ok, it was at last moment made a choice to brake hard which caused the issue.

He actually could win overall but beats himself but atleast he isn't afraid to get in there and work either.

I'd really be curious to see if he didn't have the flop or transmission issue where he would be because without that he would be threat.

This post summerises what my opinion of Robby is. The thing is, Robby doesn't have the attitude or temperament to win a Dakar Rally. Unless he adopt a different mindset to the Dakar, he'll never win.
 
Off topic buts whats wrong with Stephane Sarrazin?
 
Whoops, wrong French/ex-Peugeot driver. I meant Franck Montagny.
And I'm referencing the time he totally put an Audi (It may have been McNish) into the wall, along with a GTC Porsche at the 2011 Petit Le Mans. Among other un-sportsman blocks and dive bombs.
