DAMAGE? We don't need no stinking DAMAGE! (Blazing Saddles reference)

We need fully optioned private rooms, in game communications, a new track or two, a few new cars, and official information regarding the release of GT5. The "basics" need to be addressed before that take on a major project such as 'realistic' damage.

Totally agree, i just hope PD have similar priorities. :nervous:

I´ve never read this interview before, this is an interview with Kaz @E3 2008

IGN: Earlier this year, you mentioned that Polyphony was working on a patch for GT5 Prologue that would add damage modeling to the game later this year. Is that still happening?

Kazunori Yamauchi: Our plans haven't changed, and we're working on it. But this is Gran Turismo, so it might be a little bit late. [laughs all around]

IGN: Lastly, what's the status on the full Gran Turismo 5? Where are you at in production?

Kazunori Yamauchi: Of course after this next update, we're going to have another update later on in the year. There's no plans in the works for GT5 yet - that might be 2009, or it might be 2010... But we're totally focused on getting the updates through for Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, and that's all we're focused on.

So we can hope we get the fall update for the end of 2008,maybe christmas...

Wow if damage is added afraid that the only change will be when you get punted on lap 1 you'll have to limp around with a crippled car or sit & count blades of grass. The jerks dont care if they hurt their car, thats the only reason there playing, to ruin every one elses day.:grumpy:

for that reason there will be come private lobbys ;) so the jerks can race with jerks and seerious racers can race with seerious racers...

And also who will you be racing, punters or fellow GTP Tag Members.? 👍

I would like to see petrol, tyre and brake (overheating) usage with pits. Maybe this is what the damage will be, if so can't wait.

Add transmission damage to that for bad shifts and it would be perfect.

If they do that then they have to remove the code they added that makes you mis-shift when using a G25 and have the throttle on, even just a bit.

That peice of code actually make the game unrealistic, because as has been said before if I changed gears in a real car and had full throttle while doing so then I would not mis-shift.

^AKA flat shifting? well, it indeed can be done but it's not good for neither tranny or clutch. :nervous:

I think since their debue from last year, The Tokyo Game Show this year marks when Prologue was first released on Japan in December, They have most likely got a great inside peaks and hopefully some previews for damage. After all it's coming to the *Fall Update* Very soon! So sit tight and bring on the first weeks of October!

Yup, flat shifting, but not just that, even rev matching when going up the gears.

Like you said, flat shifiting is no good for the tranny or clutch, but it can be done in real life. So if PD add the ability to damage the tranny & clutch then they really should remove that "feature".

I remember eagerly awaiting TGS last year as GT5P demo was being released then. :)

I am curious why Sony/PD/Citroen are going to fully unvail the "GT by Citroen" concept on the 2nd of October when the Paris Motor show starts on the 4th (unless 2nd is the start of press days), maybe KY and the team needs the extra time to get back to Tokyo and be ready for TGS 08?
