Dashboard Racing Cockpit Project.

Mmm, I don't know. Fanatec wheels are bigger and have, AFAIK the same angle when mounted on a table as the G25/G27

Dashboard raised (the pedals aren't hard mounted yet):

1st person view (the flash covered my face saving me from having to edit the picture):

And the engine is magically at 1000 rpm even though the dials arent connected to an engine:

Don't hard mount anything yet. It's difficult to adjust everthing if you hard mounted it and you have to make adjustments.

If I'm not being impolite, may I ask why you wanted to edit your face on the picture? Is it just that you are uncomfortable with your face being on the internet?

Anyway, good work on the setup.

Hey, Just a suggestion, you could go back to the junkyard and get the shifter off it? On my G27, I put a gear shifter from the same car (Peugeot 205 GTI) as the seat I got it from. On my G27, I also have the wheel from the 205 waiting to be put on, bit tricky though considering it doesn't use the same holes as Chillicoke's adapter :scared:

I forgot to mention that you first have to find out if your VW gauges are compatible with the RevBurner.

You can go here to find out.

@RacingDriver725

What you`re doing is great , keep up the good work :))

A friend just totalled his Ferrari, maybe I should ask him for his dashboard :)

UPDATE:

"I" have just bidded on a genunine Porsche 997 gear stick on eBay. I may also wrap my centre console (when I get round to making it) in real leather. And a frame for the sides of my cockpit has just been finished. The seat has also been attached to the base. More pictures next week.

I'd be interested to see ( if you do install one ) how a mini fridge would look, an idea I had kicking around too for use with the dash I want to use ( Honda Del Sol )

This is hands down a great cockpit idea! 👍

I look forward to checking this thread regularly for updates. After it's done I'd even recommend a youtube. That other suggestion about hooking up the revs by kikie was a very great one too :dopey:

UPDATE:
The bid on the Porsche 997 gear knob went up to £50, so I bought this instead:

More photos on Monday/Tuesday, where i mount the wheel/pedals and paint the cockpit.

When I was installing the new gear knob to the shifter I found a trick to increase the tension on the shifter. when you have removed the original shifter you should see a bolt like this one:

juyhfed.jpg

(picture wasnt taken by me). remove that bolt to get the rest of the shifter off, and tighten it back again without the shifter. but if you dont tighten it enough it wont stay in any gears except 3rd or 4th (which is how I found this trick). you can tighten it a bit more than how it was before buut not too much.

when I get home i will take a picture of my shifter with the new gear knob on.

UPDATE:
Damn cheap shifter stopped working ever since i put the new gear knob on :(

Im going to wait until the Clubsport shifter comes out instead of wasting £50 on 2 cheaply made shifters :@

left to do:

invert and mount pedals
close off part of centre console
dead pedal
finish painting
carpeting floor and console
install mini fridge
install front and side panel
strengthen sterring wheel mount
install Ambi-Pur air freshner (for the lulz)

That looks spot on mate, really impressive stuff!

Just a thought though, will you be 'trimming' the centre console? Would be great if you could source a VW armrest to put there. Also work as a storage solution for the tv remote!

One day I might make one. I reckon an old BMW (E36 318 or E39 5xx loads at a scrap yards up and down the country) would be a good starting point, although the Golf is an excellent choice.
