The credits would be more important to transfer than the Licences, so you can buy a better car at the beginning.
If it only give you the first two Licence, they are pretty easy to get, and would probably need to do them for a PSN trophy anyway.

Just to reiterate folks:

Your transferred cars will only be able to be used in the Arcade Mode (not the career mode - aka 'GT Life').

It was on Sony's factsheet released in June of the this year. And, yes, I missed it at first too (so it's understandable why not everyone is aware of this).

I hope the transfer will only apply to Arcade mode, and not GT Life. If so, I'll probably transfer to mess around and doing some hot laps. But to use it in GT Life, is a blasphemy in my eyes 👎. The fun and spirit of GT is to start with cheap bangers and work your way to the high-end exotic rides :).
Agreed. 👍

I too missed it at first, then I read into detail and found out a few things, like 4 player spilt screen (👍) and some other stuff. ;)

I won't be using my gt5p as a starter kit to get licences, although i have in the past. I look forward to re-learning GT I was great in GT4 years past turned out I was no good at gt5p : (. I plan to re-educate myself in the early licence stages.

Hey guys im the newbie on the forum :(!

So to make this clear, we can transfer all cars from GT PSP (800 odd) + GT 5P (200 odd) to arcade mode only. That's safe as i would presume not all of us even want to play arcade mode but it would be nice practice for the real thing i spose in GT Life and Online!

In regards to other transfers, has PD come up with any other details like@
Transfering Credits
Licenses
DLC Extras for the track editor etc?

I wouldn't transfer anything!!! I would rather take GT5 slowly and experience it like it was a game, not a $60 add-on. I doubt you will be able to transfer everything any way....

From what I remember reading, GTPSP cars will transfer to arcade mode only, not simulation. Idk how the cars transfer will work but I've heard that you can transfer credits. I wouldn't be surprising if they limit you to 100,000cr but even if they didn't and you could get the F2007 and 2,000,000cr I doubt you'd be able to use it very well. The money sure you could spend it. But I have a feeling they might finally bring back some decent regulations to the GT series as opposed to the ill conceived Performance Points System. Eg, maybe you could woop some cars in the beginner races with an F1 or super high powered car, but you'd probably be restricted. I'm thinking if they give you the super high end racers and the massive credits, GT5 will probably configured keep you from making the most use of it until later on in the game. Eg, you'll get plenty of practice days with it, but until you actually get passed the lower levels, the bonuses may not necessarily be useful. Hence I also think that the Bonus cars from preorders and special addition will be awesome, but I have a nagging feeling that a Stealth McLaren F1 will probably be not that useful until later on.

I was able to transfer 1 car and 100,000 creds from GT3 to GT4. So why wouldn't we not be able to do the same with GT5P to GT5?

We've been taking things slowly with GT5 long enough.

but what about online.. ? wont there be people starting out with a full garage of cars.? i dont think thats going to be fair to my stock 99 civic r..(starter car)

But that's just my opinion :D

better words couldnt have been typed:tup:

Ditto. This very reason is why I was hesitating downloading the bonus car from my preorder once I get the game. I guess I'll just leave that Mclaren F1 parked for a few weeks/months, but the temptation to use it will be hard, but all the fun is grinding your way up. Well it is for me anyways.

I'm pretty torn between what I want here.

I mean, I love the Gran Turismo "Work for it, experience" start out with 20k buy a miata, work up etc, slightly tune it, compete in harder races, eventually figure out if you want to sell it, keep it, or finish tuning it and be broke but have an ok car, or just a fast one that's already good (stock).

But as long as we've waited for GT5, I dunno.. I mean, I see both aspects, and I'll be happy no matter what, as long as I get GT5.

but yeah people will just get a save game file with 2 million credits + the extra 2 million in cars that are in the garage and sell what they don't want and get 4 million cash right away. and to be honest, that'd give someone a HUGE leap into gran turismo 5, to where they wouldn't enjoy the experience as much, but I dunno, maybe some people enjoy boosts like that right off the start, I kind of want to work for it to be honest, I liked the whole work up thing.

I personally don't think we'll be allowed to carry over past GT resources because it would ruin the balance of the GT Mode, and pretty much wreck it's integrity.

I'm with Guffaluff on this.

Starting with anything more than what the game starts you off with just feels wrong and working my way up to the top makes the sense on accomplishment even greater.

Won't bother with transferring anything unless it's money and will do so when I'm financially well off :)

If I don't instantly unlock all the cars to be available for hot lapping, I will do the transfer waste all the credits on useless crap, and then resell it for less money back to the game. That way, I will be left only with my cars that I will use for hot lapping.
If all cars are unlocked from the start for hot lapping then I wont even bother transferring.

It was confirmed in one of the previous threads here that it will only be applicable on offline arcade mode. No credits will be transfered, and GT Mode will start from scratch by everyone that owns GT5. I'm very happy with this to be honest.

Well, I'm gonna transfer my cars but we still won't be able to use them in GTMode, I think transferring only unlocks the transferred cars for GTMode, in which case I'll transfer my PSP and prolouge garage, test 'em in arcade, the start GTMode.

^ transferred? I'd say 50,000cr to 70, 000cr. Added to the base 30,000 you might start with. Healthy sum but not enough to get a super car straight away.

i have all cars in prologue and i hope that only we can transfer to arcade mode for play or practice in some tracks then to get the license or something like that.

In GT4 you got to transfer up to 100,000 credits and the 2 low level lic. Something like that would be ok but anything more in Gt mode would upset the balance. Even in such a case I think I will likely not bother as I like the challenge of starting with a single POS car and doing it the hard way.

If the cars are for use in arcade mode only then the transfer would not hurt anything so I would probably do it if for no reason other than to see how the new physics feel on the F1 and Amuse GT1

I´m playing GT5-P the second time around (old 60gtb failed on me and I lost all my saves), and I'm few cars away from buying all cars, got the most expensive ones out of the way (Citroen GT, F2007), but I won't transfer them to GT5. I wanna start over, beating around the crappy cars and saving up to the supercar of my dreams 👍. That´s GT to me, I don't wanna start the game driving the F2007, that's just wrong

Don't forget it's just for arcade mode, not GT life.

If the transfer option is anything like GT3 to GT4 the option will lock once game data is done up loading to the hard drive. I'll decide once I start loading the data, not sure what to do though.

We have no reason to believe there will be any transferring of anything between gt5p and gt5. Someone with the game said there was no option to transfer over gt5p data.

Even if you can't transfer that problem will be there from the people with the stolen (or leaked) copies of the game.

the way i look at it they should reward those who have played gt5 for so long and waited for gt5

I want to play GT5 from scratch, but then again a million bucks is nice to perform minor enhancements on each car (I wouldnt buy cars with it, well not the big ones)

PIcking my copy up today :)
