Well, I tried this setup, and it was rather, um...interesting. Some turns could be taken flat-out, others needed to be taken slower than with my "conventional" setup.
The 1st turn could be taken virtually WOT, but in the last 3/4 of a turn, the car usually runs out of grip and understeers. The first ess-bend is wierd, you have to slow down a lot for the left part, but then all-out into the right portion. The medium-speed 180-deg-right is a little slower in, but you fly out of the turn.
Then comes the Big Banked Blind Right. In my mind, this is a turn makes or breaks your lap (like the last turn). You have so much understeer, you have to duck in low in this corner, and then just WOT out of it, with out wavering. But I didn't find a noticable increase in speed, just a consistent speed in the middle of the bend.
The final ess-bend you can take flat-out (whee!), and the final long, tight, left is crazy. Enter in 3rd, quickly to 4th, and hold it steady into a crazy drift exit flat-out to the finish line.
Overall, I think I gained about 0.2 sec with this "wierd" setup. This must be the "freaky physics" that Ieard so much about at the GTF. I never rteally wanted to know much about it. I've used a online tuning guide here and there, but I usually prefer to use my own setup, and figure it out for myself.
That said, I feel our competition will degrade somewhat if we all start using TCS or ASC (I tried them before with an NSX GT when I first played the game, but found no advantage...ditched them).
Although Malloot has given us a "revelation" in setups, I still prefer the more natural way of driving without any artificial driving aids.
Then again, if Malloot claims the setup doesn't work on any other car, then I'm impressed just the same. Malloot, tell us the entire setup that you used (camber, ride height, LSD settings, toe). I'm sure we are all very interested!
