Thank you for the updates Officer Hound :)

Fire hound, what should I do if I am interested in one of your cars?

Time for the final update from the Police Car Exhibition, and I'm saving the biggest and best 'till last. The Japanese have a huge share of the cop car market, and while in the '60s it was pretty easy to laugh at the Japanese, no-one's gonna be laughing when a GT-R is bearing down on you like a bat outta hell!

Mazda only has the one product, the 2002 RX-7 Spirit R Type A, and although this is the finest of the RX-7s, not many departments have bought the rotary wondercars.

Mitsubishi has had better luck, as there is a big market for rally-based super sedans. These cars are agile, grippy and great for cities, where the lack of top speed doesn't really matter. Mitsubishi has responded with the Lancer Evolution IX and X GSR, and it's no surprise that these cars are popular in the cities.

Nissan has a massive share of the police car market, more than any manufacturer. Their success started in 2001, when they offered a special edition Skyline GT-R with performance enhancements and a full set of lights. Intended for use as a pace car, the Skyline instead found immense popularity as one of the backbones of the GTPD, and Nissan have gone from strength to strength. If you have served at any point since 2010 when the Anti Street Racer Taskforce was set up, chances are at least one of your cars will have been a Nissan, and they offer many products. In the early '90s, many departments bought the 300ZX for its speed and handling, and Nissan has continued support for the Fairlady. Also on offer is the Skyline 350GT Sedan, and while it lacks the power for pursuit work, it is marketed as a patrol car, therefore exempting it from performance requirements as seen for Highway Patrol cars. Nissan's popular range of Skyline GT-Rs are here as well, the R32 and R33 being showcased. These cars are perfect for pursuit work, with speed, handling, acceleration and grip being in plentiful supply. The Fairlady range is in another section of the massive Nissan exhibition display, the 350Z and 370Z boasting great handling and grip. The Skyline GT-R R34 is one of the most popular police cars, and responds well to tuning, reportedly one tuning company got 780HP from an R34. The R35 GT-R is another popular choice, offering power, handling, grip and weight in one package. The SpecV is lighter for more hardcore performance, while the 2012 model GT-R brings more power and attention to detail to the table. Hold tight when tuning: companies have got as much as 900HP from the new GT-Rs. One thing's for sure, Nissan won't be going away from the law enforcement market any time soon.

Subaru is a very convincing competitor to Mitsubishi for the rally-based pursuit car market. The 2005 Impreza WRX STI is one of the more popular choices, while the 2007 Impreza STI Hatchback and 2010 Impreza STI Sedan are also on offer. Being so similar to the Lancer Evolutions, many departments struggle to choose between the two, both offerings featuring all wheel drive, 280-300HP and standard and excellent grip.

Toyota doesn't have much of a presence in this market, the Prius and 86 lacking the performance for pursuit work. Its Lexus subsidiary however, sells the IS F as an alternative to the M3 and C63. The IS F has a practical 4 door sedan body, a powerful 5.0 V8 engine and an 8 speed automatic transmission with plenty of ratios for any situation and smooth, seamless shifts that mean you can keep accelerating. Honestly, I'm surprised that departments haven't really taken the IS F on board.

Well, that's all from this show. It's been fun to write about the new police cars on the market, and I can't wait 'till next year. It's gonna be fun finding out what the manufacturers will have on display next time...

Right then Swara, if you're interested, simply drop me an order with what car you'd like and what you want to use it for. I'll make it and send it to you as soon as I can.

Ooh. I Thought Honda Would've made an Appearance..

I honestly was expecting that too, but obviously they didn't think it would be worth it. The NSX would make a decent Interceptor but it's a little down on power compared to the Corvettes and the GT-Rs, two big players in this sector. The rest of their range isn't quite as good for police work. Front wheel drives have never really taken off in law enforcement, the departments preferring more powerful rear and all wheel drives. But who knows? Maybe the new NSX could be pressed into service...

no South Africa

Grr...All the cars' descriptions sound so tempting...time to make a decision :) I will let you know Firehound! Thank you!

EDIT: I am looking for an Interceptor...what do you recommend?

It's too early for us here in the United States. Try in a few more hours.

Agreed, most of us don't feel like cruising at 10 AM.

Well Swara, Interceptors are primarily deployed to catch fast suspects, so you want a good mix of power, speed and agility. Three cars I can offer are the Corvette Z06, the GT-R and the R8. I've long used the Corvette for its speed and acceleration, but I have started to shift to other cars. The GT-R may lack in top speed a little compared to the Z06, but it has awesome grip and is cheaper than the Corvette. The R8 is more expensive, but combines the power of the Z06 with the handling of the GT-R. If you don't want to go for those, and you don't care about subtlety (and let's face it, Interceptors are not really meant to stay under the radar), a Viper ACR can be bought for Cr.100,000 and offers a huge amount of power and surprising levels of grip. Kadzido's a known user of the ACR, he can offer you some tips.

A Viper ACR sounds interesting...how may I place an order for one?

And when I am placing an order for this Viper, what options do I have?

Camaro Z/28 2010 with tire grip 130 is the best police intercopter ever.

Well, since you've asked me, you've already placed an order. And now, you get to choose whatever you want on it!

 Thank you!

You're the expert on parts for the car :D. I'm not sure what would be the best

As for the color...Hmm...A bright vibrant Red would be :drool:ing...not sure about the rims!

'Hound, will you be hosting the Regular 9pm Lobby Today?

Accepted! Welcome to the club. Check out the website at http://dbeav12copclub.weebly.com/

Aznima, I will be hosting at 9pm GMT. I've tuned a whole fleet of cop cars, but I hope to do a bit of cruising as a delivery driver. Not to say I won't swap my ID card for a badge if there's a need for more enforcers.

Ooh. I just found an '84 Ford RS200. Guess I have another red Ford to cruise in!

firehound bro what cop car would you recommend?

I would recommend an Audi R8, if you are going for speed, as it has good handling, and is very fast in a straight line. It also doesn't stand out anywhere near as much as it's mad Italian rivals.

If you are going for something that is more of a city patroller, I would go for an Impreza, or Evo. Both can keep up with criminals down the short city straights, and are super fast through corners.

If however you are like me, and wish to avoid the good handling of a 4WD, I would drive some form of muscle car, swaying towards the Mustang, just because I prefer it over the Camaro.

I like being different though, so I tend to use my Chrysler 300C for faster circuits, and my Audi Quattro for city circuits.

It's all personal opinion really, and what you want to use your car for. You wouldn't want a car that was a issile through corners, but lacked speed down straights for Sarthe would you?

Yeah, i would recommend Camaro SS. Very cheap and reliable car. It has nice handling and the performance isnt bad neither. You can take it to a garage and get some modifications assembled to it. You could take tho Camaro Z/28 2010 which is full blooded police car. It has the right figures and street racers will  at it and stop without chases. Camaro Z/28 2010 would win the street racers at chases tho.

Yep. And Fazerfan seems to be a big fan of the Camaro Z/28. Mind explaining it to me Fazer?
