Night-time - I'm glad as that looks like fun and about time the consoles got night time too.

EDIT: I've actually been playing quite a bit of the original recently, completing the last of the challenges and getting two more characters levelled up to 60 by working through the challenges :)

Dead Island: Riptide's 'Rigor Mortis' edition

Joystiq
Dead Island: Riptide's "Rigor Mortis Edition" has everything you need to survive a zombie invasion: a small suitcase, a zombie hula girl figurine, a bottle opener that looks like a hand, and a key. Everything! There's also a "digital strategy map" and bundled DLC for the game. The contents of the $80 collection were chosen by a fan survey.

Seems that the Dead Island: Riptide - Rigor Mortis edition will only be North and South America.

EDIT: The EU and AU on the Xbox at least will be getting a different one - no news on the PS3 or PC yet.

Dead Island: Riptide - Zombie Bait

The torso has also caused Deep Silver to issue an apology...again :sly:

Very nice :) preorder is already in.

Apparently this might be footage from some months ago when DS let a bunch of people try the game out. I can handle a bit of tower defence mixed in with the game.

Also interesting that the other characters are also present, or is this an MP mode and I missed it?

Could be MP or part of the story mode. Yeah, going to preorder this weekend. And I'll certainly nag my friends to do the same because we had tons of fun with the first one.

Sadly I won't be able to use my character progressions from the first game as it's trapped in my old PS3 that got the YLOD last year. Even if I get it fixed, from what I've heard Dead Island is copy protected, which means I'm going to have to start from scratch. And I had a kickass Purna and Xian Mei.

Ouch, that has to be really annoying. Good luck with getting them back up to that level again - at least you have two months yet.

Graphically it looks stunning. Water looks so beautiful. Are those PC shots? I never played the original Dead Island but its on my rental list.

It does look good, just as atmospheric as the first :) So that's one of the new zombies in the last photo - looks partly organic, like Swamp Thing.

As to the water, that is no different from the first game which I played on PS3 so I think it's safe to assume it'll be like that on both consoles.

The original is a 60+ hour game...so be warned.

And remember, a kick will buy you time...or running away if need be is an option when things get tight, otherwise you will die, a lot...

Oh I forgot to post in here. I rented the original Dead Island last week and I liked it a lot. Beautiful game and I like it a lot more than Left 4 dead.

Just a few weeks now - I'm all ready and waiting with a lvl 60 Sam B, 51 Purna and 50 Xian. I might even get my Logan up to somewhere decent by the time DI:R comes out.

Just a couple more days now. :)

Hopefully this "game" (DLC?) will be bigger than the original Dead Island.
Info on the Dead Island forums dev vids states that it's going to be at least as big.

They also mention that it isn't really DLC, an expansion or even a sequel, even though it does follow on...and has the same characters plus an extra one.

I think they're using this time to build the true sequel, possibly Dead World. I know companies register trademarks all of the time without always using them, but that one I haven't forgotten.

Indeed, just a few more days :)

Yeah, I'm keen to see what they might do with the next-gen consoles.

Just realised, did you think the original was too short then? Most people I know put between 50 and 60 hours into the first playthrough. Granted, main mission stuff can be done in less than 20 though you'd need to be flying it - I've done over 300 now, all combined.

I put 55 hours into the original Dead Island, and finished the campaign 3 times and started a 4th before I gave up. Explored everything.

So yeah, I think it was short.

Well, pre-download of Riptide is on now. 3.5 GB.

Greg Miller from IGN gave the game a 7.2, he is also a big fan of the original game so I would take that score as a pretty good indication of Riptide's quality. As with the last game, the mechanics work fine, just presentation is pretty hopeless. As a side note, I finished the original dead island and liked it despite the bad story, characters and voice acting.
