Hi there,

I am new to posting but not new to the site. I have been a member for quite some time. Anyway, now thats its getting down to the crunch, I couldn't help but get involved. I have been speaking with the owner of a local Electronique Boutique outlet in Victoria, BC. He has confirmed an arrival date of December 6. I have already reserved a copy. I am very excited and just wanted to share this information in case there is someone else here, that is in my neck of the woods!!

I can't wait
Eric

Canada = PAL version???

PAL Version = Delayed until Feb

Feb > Dec 6

Info = Wrong???

we are in fact ntsc here in canada, so the trasition for us is much simpler! just a matter of shipping actually. and perhaps the addition of kph, but im sure that this will be an option ingame.. at least I hope so.

The Canadian version is the north american version. It is not the PAL version. Even when GT3 came out, we seemed to get it a few days sooner than even the US. The states has a ship date of Dec 14, but according to the people at EB Games, it is most definately the 6th.

I hate EBGames. Look at this boxart.

Dumb bastards.

The official release date by PD for US and Canada is Dec. 14th. It is already Gold. No more delays! EB is wrong.

I was scared a minute there...I saw someone say we were PAL and I thought to myself, WTF?!, and I was just about to go check the package for GT3 until I scrolled down a bit and saw he had been corrected. I have a family history of heart failures, I almost died, lol.

I thought everyone went over this? Not to offend the thread maker, but PD's release date is the ONLY release date.

No offense taken "G". I could be completely wrong about this. I am just relaying the information that I was given. If it is in fact the 14th, which it could be, I'm still really excited. Just passing on information. For the next few weeks, I'll bet this forum is going to be full of speculation. In my opinion, its all good and just part of the anticipation we all have!!!!

Thanks
Eric

Never listen to third party's release information.

Heck, does everyone remember the game "Juiced" ?

Even after the publisher had gone under....as in no longer exists, and the game dropped, EB had a brand new advertisement for it over a full month later. I laughed and then asked to talk to the manager. I explained that the game was not coming until it got a new publisher. He called a few people, realised that EB corporate had made a mistake and pulled the advertisement from his store.
*Since then "Juiced" has gotten a new publisher and is being finished*

The point is. Third party's are almost always the last to know and have some of the most inaccurate information. Always listen for the official announcements.
True, you have to wait longer for news about a game and there is still always the possibility that the date will get pushed back. But the news will be more accurate.

Currently, the Official release dates are Dec 3rd for Japan, Dec 14th for US (and Canada, however Canada sometimes gets it sooner.) and sometime in Fed for Europe (due to delivery problems).

There's already bucketloads of speculation. 60-odd pages in fact.

The release date should be universal. That would prevent some idiot from blowing up Sony headquarters because someone else got GT4 before them.

and gamestop says the 15th.

looks like a won a bet with the guy who works there.

Umm, let's see... December 12th falls on a Sunday. Don't think that will happen.
Yep, plus it says 12/2004, as in December 2004. There is no "Official" release date yet. And, if you say Dec.14 is, please provide me with proof.

Again, that's not official. Just what some website is saying. When it's official, the US Playstation website will have it posted.
Why do you keep insisting on having an exact date from SCEA? If you look at the upcoming release list on the US Playstation site, you'll see that they don't list the DAY for every game. They only list the MONTH and YEAR.

http://www.us.playstation.com/newgames.aspx?id=calendar

In fact, even the "This Week's New Games" link doesn't show the exact date of release. It just has the month and year. All you know is that the game will be released some time this week, but you won't know which day because it never shows it.

While they did not confirm an official date for the US release, they did "target" the release at Dec 14th. THAT part of it is official. Since the game is ahead of schedule, I see no reason whatsoever to think that they can't hit that date. Unless you have information we don't?

games in north america NEVER comes on time....

if the release date is dec 14th. there is a huge chance it delays by a day or 2 due to shipping problems.... and vice versa, might come early.... if u live in the boonies, expect to wait longer.
especially in canada, where they have to ship a "french" manual with the game

but dec. 6th does sound good

the 2 weeks difference between NA/JP release is because of the oversea shipping.
English version is confirmed shipped on Dec 3rd to HK.

btw in Japan and HK, retailers would have full shippment of the game 2 days ahead of release. unlike shops in Canada where they will receive the game on release date.

i've ordered 2 games from EB before. both of them arrived 2 days late.

solid..please make it stop. Just stop saying "it's not official until it's here, blah blah".

SCEA locked the date. I already explained why retailers push dates back like that.

US PS stie NEVER has dates, only month/year.

It's funny that you say "this isnt official for Dec. 14th"...yet you post up some random retailer's website with some random date that does not go alone with anyone elses...and you side by those dates just to say that Dec. 14 isn't "official"...how can you discredit something from SCEA with something unofficial?

It generally depends on the retailer as to whether they'll get the game on time. My local Gamestops (both of 'em) get their games on the announced release date. At least, they have for the last three titles I was aware of (TOCA2, Bard's Tale, and GTA:SA were all up on the shelf the exact day the publisher said they would be). However, Best Buy seems to be a day or two behind on most games (which is what led me to go to Gamestop instead, especially when I found out GS was a lot closer). Except Halo2.. BB had Halo2 on launch day (not that I particularly cared, since I don't have an Xbox, but I did see the game there when I went to go pick up some DVDs that day), but it would have been corporate suicide if they didn't, since most of the sales of the game happened on launch day.

So while BB might be a day or two behind on launch day most of the time, I'm confident that the local Gamestop will have everything on launch day. The other advantage I have, I suppose, is that Gamestop is a "local" company.. their corporate headquarters is right here in Texas, about 200 miles away. That may help with timing.

I'd also like to point out again that retailers are not always told what's going on with a game. When I went in to go pick up The Bard's Tale, the cashier told me he was surprised to see it in the shipment, and had to double-check the computer to make sure the game was supposed to go on the shelf. He had no clue that the release date had been bumped up a week. While I had read the news on IGN and Gamespot a week or two before. Which confirms why I tend to listen to official announcements and dates from publishers rather than from retailers, and why I take anything a retailer says with a rather large grain of salt.
