Only for North America, not for the UK.

I just pre-ordered the 320gb console and gt5 c.e bundle on Amazon in the u.k and the delivery options were.(copied directly from amazon)

Choose a delivery option:

*FREE Super Saver Delivery (3 - 5 business days)
*First Class --get it on its release day: Friday, November 5.
*Expedited (1 business day(s))

Only for North America, not for the UK.

Extra £2 definitely ships the day before release for probably release day delivery. My order states delivery estimate: 4 Nov 2010 - 5 Nov 2010.

I ordered mine from amazon.co.uk and they had advertised the on the day delivery so yes it is available for the uk.

I just checked in with Gamestation in Southampton. They're doing a midnight launch on Nov 5th. The guy in the shop also said GAME (being owned by the same people) would be releasing it on the 5th.

The bad news for me was...

Gamestation will only be selling the Standard and SE versions, he said it was likely to be the same with GAME (for reasons mentioned above) because "someone got there before us". I wonder if this is nation wide...

No CC on launch from those shops would be a real pain for me. D:

I pre-ordered my GT5 in my Gamestation in Haywards Heath on friday but not sure if they're having a midnight launch. They also said that it could cost between £40-50 but wouldn't know until it came in.

Play.com also say 5th November. Quite good for me because I don't have college that day so I have the whole day to play it

Ok so the release date is now the 5th, according to Amazon. However, Amazon uk do not do a release date delivery, so it likely won't get delivered until the 9th, as that is the monday. Which means I won't actually recieve the game until the 12th when I have a chance to travel home from uni. Great. :guilty:

Haven't you got release date delivery? I got that guaranteed from Amazon that I'll have it on my doorstep the day it is released... and thats here in the UK... but I dunno if it cost me an extra two quid...

The Standard and SE editions are the only ones that Game, Gamestation will be selling and yes it is nationwide. The only places I know of that are selling the CE is Amazon and Play.com.

Glad to see that the 5th has now been accepted as the release date.

I asked at GAME today in Birmingham and they told me they would most likely not do a midnight release and as far as he knows nobody is. It might change but thats what I was told by them. For everyone in the UK if there isn't a midnight release and you want a copy at midnight go to a 24hour ASDA which I've done for quite a few games that haven't got a midnight release and they'll have it and they will sell it you. I've already pre-ordered it but I don't think I can wait until it gets delivered on Friday morning

not me.
but i can wait on my english CE.
But only because my SE is sill scheduled on the 3rd. So i get it on the 4th or the 5th. :D 👍

I just pre ordered the Collectors Edition (CE In lazy persons way of typing) in Gamestop this morning nd they are still showing its going to be available on the third. also my Reciept shows the third. So its not delayed. Check the Gamestop website with the three versions of GT5 and the release date

http://www.gamestop.ie/core/common/default.aspx?quickSearch=Gran Turismo 5

It shows 3rd november.

I don't think many of your compatriots would appreciate you including Eire in the UK!

Does anyone know what the significance of releasing games on Friday's and at the end of the month? (around the 25th-28th)

Guess I'll the whole weekend to play GT5 :sly:

Maybe it's to tie into the time that a large majority of people receive their monthly salary (end of month / last Friday of month, etc.). Then they may be more inclined to buy it because it's just released and they know they've just received a load of money and aren't so concerned about blowing money on a computer game, which could have seemed an expensive extravagance before pay-day when their disposable income is more limited. That's my theory anyway.

I guess that would make sense and I bet a few people have the weekend off anyway, which means a weekend of GT5 come November 5th. That is unless you happen to be working over the weekend :scared:

I would agree with that theory ..:sly:
the only slight risk to gt5's U.K release is the 5th of November its self (bonfire night) people may instead use the money on a family night out or if your a teenager spend it all on sparklers, boom stick's and cheep cider,

I got a second reply from Amazon for the query about the release date today, this was it

Dear Smiler,

Greetings from Amazon.co.uk

We would like to advise that your query regarding "Gran Turismo 5 (PS3)" release date is still being investigated. Please accept our apologies for this delay. Although we endeavour to complete our research within 1 to 2 business days, sometimes it may take slightly longer. Please be assured that we shall contact you shortly with further information.Thank you for your continued patience and understanding in this matter.

Warmest regards

Amazon.co.uk

So that's nearly two weeks since I asked why they are telling everyone the release date is the 5th while the official GT website for the UK still states it's the 3rd and they still don't know

I was worrying about the release been pushed to the 5th but I guess I dont have to anymore cos we're off to Florida for two weeks on the 5th! So if it lands on my door mat on the 3rd it'll be long nights before I fly out! lol

Simple, cancel your pre-order with Amazon and get it from somewhere that'll honour the actual release date, like I've just done.

I hope not it is released the 5th here in Sweden(Northern Europe) becuse all weekends i dont have time to play games. I have a racing career i have in mind, so no games on weekends when i race or train. ****

Support,

I'm interested in pre-ordering Gran Turismo 5, however your website says the release day is the 5th. The official release date is the 3rd, do you know the reason for this discrepancy?

Some retailers seem to also have the 5th, however Sony's official word for the EU has always been the 3rd.

Any light you can shed on the matter would be very much appreciated.

Regards,

James Sturdy
