So what do ya reckon that means for game pre-orders? 4th or 5th?

also amazon.uk has changed the CE to the 5th,
but not my preorder... yet ... i hope it stays that way

All this discussion and confusion makes me laugh.

The explanation is simple. Games in the UK are ALWAYS released on a Friday. Whatever the EU release date, the UK always gets the game the first Friday afterwards.

The 3rd of November is a Wednesday, the 5th is a Friday.

The only time I've ever seen it happen differently is with WoW expansion packs.

F1 2010? Which pre-order people received today, on a wednesday? And shopto dont list it as "released in 2 days" like they do with other games?

Ditto. I doubt they'll ship the existing pre orders earlier than any made now though. Not wanting to fan the flames but PD's website stills says November 3 although regardless of when it's released I'll still be going to see the fireworks in the park on the 5th :D

Bloody hell, I'm taking my son to see WWE RAW that day.

No, our games release on the thursdays (4th) usually, which is the date Sony Australia has recenty given us. This is hardly what I would call a delay, it's just regional "politics" at work.

Ok cool Jay. Hopefully we will start seeing some solid info about midnight release`s from the retailers. No one is confirming anything yet when asked :scared:

I just got this email :indiff: :guilty: :yuck: :grumpy:

Unfortunately, the release date for the item(s) listed below was changed by the supplier, and we need to provide you with a new estimated delivery date based on the new release date:

"Gran Turismo 5: Collector's Edition (PS3)"
Estimated arrival date: November 09 2010 - November 15 2010

One of Amazon's aims is to provide a convenient and efficient service; in this case, we have fallen short. Please accept our sincere apologies.

I live in Spain so I think delivery in the UK will be much earlier. Anyhow, official release date for F1 2010 was September 24th but I got it yesterday so I hope something similar will happen with GT5. I'll buy the regular edition on store and I will wait for the collector's edition to arrive in the mail.

BTW - My Amazon account says "Dispatch 4th Nov" - "Estimated arrival 5th-9th Nov"

Some people have received their copy early, but the UK release date for F1 2010 is 24th September (which is tomorrow, a FRIDAY) . It was released in the rest of Europe yesterday (Wednesday).

If it were available now, I'd be playing it!

Unless Sony make special arrangements with the distributors and retailers, it will be the same for GT5.

Apparently Shop to posted F1 2010 during Tues. However apparently they said to Royal Mail that these cannot be delivered until the 23rd at the earliest. Now according to a few they recieved their copies yesterday but these were the minority.

I ordered F1 2010 at 1am on Wednesday and yet it was posted yesterday. If I recieve my copy today then I might order GT5 from Shop to. I know they don't have any special editions but if you want GT5 as early as possible it seems Shop to are the people to order from.

I forgot you can pay an extra £6 to have your games delivered by TNT the next day from Shop to.

I like ShopTo. I've always received my stuff the next day by their standard delivery, even when I've only ordered it the previous evening. Good prices too.

Got the same mail today.

Dang it.

What's the purpose of an release date if nobody respects it.

Now i probably won't be playing gt during the weekend :guilty::yuck:
Still have a little hope for my SE in france
Or now i hope amazon.de is on 3rd (but they still haven't it listed?), then i get my CE from them

When I read the title I thought that an actual delay had been announced. A couple of days to take it to the next convenient time for retailers is neither here nor there.

My CE edition from Amazon UK has been changed to the 5th aswell, whats going on?

Ditto, Amazon UK believe the release date is going to be Friday 5th November but until PD and Sony announce otherwise the official UK release date is still 3rd November. If you've paid the extra 2 quid for 1st class delivery you'll likely receive the day before release...which ever day that may be.

Yep, got the email, my CE is delayed til the 5th also :(

Just as well I haven't gone out of my way to book time off work for this, but at least a week after I finally get it I have 2 weeks off and a handful of days to play this beast! Cannot wait, but I feel for those who REALLY cannot wait.

Yeah I paid extra, so I hope I get it on the 2nd. Otherwise its going to be a very long and boring week.

I'm sure you'll be able to keep yourself entertained in sunny Doncaster :sly:

I have now recieved the dreaded email.

Well fair enough for delaying it until the 5th but I still don't know why I won't be getting it until the 9th-11th-thanks Amazon.

I e-mailed Amazon at the weekend asking why they were telling customers the release date is the 5th but the official GT website for the UK clearly states the release date is the 3rd. I got a reply on Monday telling me they would look into it and I would have a reply by Wednesday, I got no reply yesterday but I did get one today advising me they are still looking into it so there customer services appear to have no idea what is going on.

todays e-mail

Dear Mr Smilerftm,

Greetings from Amazon.co.uk

We would like to advise that your query regarding "Gran Turismo 5 (PS3)" release date is still being investigated.

Please accept our apologies for this delay. Although we endeavour to complete our research within 1 to 2 business days, sometimes it may take slightly longer. Please be assured that we shall contact you shortly with further information.

Thank you for your continued patience and understanding in this matter.

I'll post their next reply as and when I get it.

In my experience the delivery estimates are always way off it always arrives a few days before or on the day. They need to give a big gap to cover themselves if it does turn up late.

I'm another with an "Estimated arrival date:November 05 2010" I'm hoping that's arrival at me and not Amazon!! As I live outside of town and don't get post over the weekend it could end up being the 9th before it arrives!! (no post on a Monday either!!)

If that turns out to be the case after this wait.. well who cares... ME!

If I find I can buy it in a store before they ship it to me, It'll be the last thing I buy through them... can't say fairer than that :grumpy:

I wonder why games get released on a Friday in the UK.

I've thought about it a lot and I can't think of a reason, at first I thought it would just be an easier way to track sales and profits for each day or something, but all sales will be recorded on a computer system and so could be filtered/sorted anyway. I honestly can't think of a genuine reason why games release on only a Friday (with some exceptions).

I guess releasing on a Friday means people have more time off work on the weekend so they can buy it, whereas if released on a Monday people would be in work all week and have to wait until the weekend to pick it up.

I honestly have no idea. Anybody have suggestions?
