Anyone interested in drawing your dream car with this program? Its free. All you have to do to create 3D objects is connect lines. This isnt an extremly advanced program, I only took about 15 minutes worth of lessons and I was good to go.

Heres my custom car after about 2 hours of work. Still has a very low polygon count and is very rough around the edges, but Im semi pretty with how its turning out - so far. I've put a bit more work on the back then the front, and it shows.

Dimensions
172" long
78" wide
44" tall
18" Rims
No engine modeled of course but I would fit it with a 3.0L V6 Turbo
Im looking for something low and wide, with a large fromt windshield. The model is still extremely early and should improve greatly.

This is somebody else's work, so its possible to get really detailed

I used to do this kinda stuff in sketchup all the time! Looking back over it now I wasn't as great at it as 14 year old me thought, but I made all manor of race cars, street cars, a ute, heaps of customised cars and even hosted a pretty well backed 'pimping' competition

I had a bit of a renaissance with it a couple years ago and produced stuff like this RX7 and original car.

It's not easy stuff to do and if you look through my old stuff you can see that it was a long learning curve to get to a point where the cars even had rounded edges. I think I learned a lot by adding bodykits and reworking other people's models.
I still dabble in Sketchup when I'm planning on building stuff from timber, but i'm afraid my car making days may be behind me :indiff:

Ps. Thanks for the thread! I haven't looked over all that stuff I did for years. No wonder why I never had time for schoolwork

Sketchup sucks. What you really want is Rhino.

Rhino is more powerful without a doubt. It's also not free and takes a lot longer to learn.

edit: DrummingKings R8 appeared to be drawn in Sketchup, if those are the results you can get, I think it's worth persevering.

I've now completed the door and side skirt. Here are pics:

The total polygon count is now up to 139529! :dopey:

From The looks of your design it is a Mid engined car ?

Is this thread is for everyone To share their work or what ?

Yes and yes.

Mid engine as Im looking to build the first affordable Supercar. Something that could lap the ring in about 8:00 but cost only 40,000

Im didnt create this thread to toot my own horn, obviously my car looks like a 8 year olds sketch, so theres nothing for me to brag about.

I thought people would like this progam and how you can design cars.

Please share your cars here. Ill updat mine soon

Just had to bring back memories... Back in junior high, I was all over this program and even made my own club for it. Was kind of this "forum" for me back in the day when I was part of the sketchup car community. I'll admit that I mostly just made my own modified models of real production cars. But I had some occasions where I made my own model.

I haven't touched it in years, so...mind my company name and all the ridiculously claimed figures I made up. Here's my "warehouse" of models. And yes, some of the modifications I made can be considered questionable. :ouch:

As others have said, it's not the best program. But back in junior high it was very enjoyable to work with... :)

I have made a car in sketchup. This is the 21st car I have made in Trimble Sketchup Make 2016.

It is not free if you want additional programmes.

And hey, you are working on a Ford GT.
