Hey,

Just bought from a guy a DFGT wheel in perfect condition, even in its original box for the equivalent of USD $15.00!

The guy was feed up with GT5 and I took good advantage of that... :dopey:

I have played all my life with a controller, but after all these people saying that wheels are the best thing and super precise, well I got one (plus the absurd low price)

I have been practicing for 3 hours, I can not get even close to my DS3 times...

How long did it take for you guys to adapt to the wheel and outperform the controller times, and by which margin approximately?

Thanks for reading.

Practice...

Today, after 3mouths with the G27, i don't know how to use the DS in race games

it didn't take me that long, but then again i suck at subtle movements with a controller, a lot of the time i was all over the track due to not being sensitive enough with the control stick.

It took me a week or so to exceed my DS3 times but I couldn't tell you anymore by how much as it was 2 years ago. It made me much more consistent though. By the way, what do you have it attached to?

I just bought it a few hours ago, so I had to improvise a lot, got it attached to a PC desk/table, but the pedals are a real pain, they move a lot, I will build a metal frame for all the stuff, but it will take me at least a week. Might as well just stick the pedals to the floor with some velcro or something, I have no carpet on the basement where I am playing now...

If you are interested in spending money this is what I use and recommend. It is very stable and easy to setup and put away.

Yeah, I would love to buy one of those but I really doubt they will ship to Mexico City, I will ask them anyway.

Thanks for the link, that stand is the perfect solution, now, off to the car dump to grab a cheap seat meanwhile, as I save a bit to buy a cool racing seat...

It took me about a week or two with my DFGT to beat my controller time. Practice makes perfect.

BTW, great price.

From what I've read, they are quick to respond to emails so you should ask them. I had no issues with my order.

You could also try www.wheelstandpro.us

I know they are backordered but they may ship to Mexico City.

That seems like a lot because the G27 is 300 US dollars and I think you can get playseats for around the same. Don't quote me on that. I'm going to eventually get a triple screen set-up and this is the seat i think I will get.

And the wheelstand pro is perfect with a couch, that's what I sit on.

Man, you guys always get the good stuff really cheap, damn customs...

That Obutto setup looks awesome! A couple of friends will come tomorrow night so that we can hookup our TVs PS3s to get the 3 monitor thing going for a while... don't know, buying 3 or 5 sets of stuff to get the multi monitor thing seems a bit excessive to me, let alone my wife... But I might do it too! Depends on how it works tomorrow with my friends gear.

Yeah, I saw the Asian girl driving with the 5 monitor setup. It looks impressive.

My wife would be convinced the moment she drives, she complains at first about the money spent, but then more about me not letting her use my "toys" than any other thing. Which sucks even more, because I always end up spending more money than what was originally planned. E.G. I had to give her an extra Wii a few years ago, because she wouldn't let our kid or me finish Mario Galaxy with her constant "interruptions". Believe it or not... LOL

Well, my wife is horrible at GT5 so she doesn't race, but she enjoys watching. Only game she enjoyed playing was Boderlands and that is co-op.

It is really cool to share video games with your wife, mine plays everything pretty bad, but enjoys driving around as in an eternal time trial. Now, when my kid is at school, she might help me grind a bit, I'm convincing her about that :sly:

Ive had it about 1week and i've gotten use to it (at first I was awful) but i'm still not faster with the wheel than I am with the DS3.

I had mine for a day before i was driving better. the stand was o ne i built back for forza 2 and the crappy microsoft wheel. its just a box made out of like half inch plywood. with one side open for pedals. really sturdy.

I just got my wheel the Saturday before last and I'm fairly adjusted to it now, I'm still having to put it on automatic to get around the Nurb' without wrecking though. The increased Braking sensitivity alone was worth making the switch.

My only gripe is putting it in reverse is a huge hassle. I'm used to being able to snap the car into reverse and do a 360 to straighten out when I loose control with the ds3. If I were to have designed the DF wheels I would have put some kinda button on top of the sequential for reverse, or make it so you can push the whole shifter down into the base like you can on some European manual cars.

I had my G25 since it came out, so when I went out and bought Gran Turismo 5, I started with the wheel. It only took me a few races to get fully comfortable with the physics, and the force feedback etc.. However, sometimes I use the DS3, when playing split screen with some friends, and the difference is immense. I never got how people could fully enjoy/take advantage of this wonderful game with a controller. I guess it always revolves around the saying "to each their own".

i just switched to a wheel myself, and after about 10 hours of play i am right about the same times now. i am still more consistent with the ds3 but the wheel is alot more fun. if you have a local home depot grab this http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-5yc...splay?langId=-1&storeId=10051&catalogId=10053

i clamp my wheel on there and use a regular kitchen chair

I´m off to Home Depot ASAP! There is one a few blocks from here.

I am starting to love my wheel, I am getting better now, and for sure it is way much more fun, I will keep practicing until I can get better than with the DS3.

Also, driving without ABS with the DS3 is almost impossible, but with the wheel I am starting to do it!

Best thing ever, and just thinking about how I spent 15 years driving without a wheel... dude... But a little in my defense, wheels without force feedback suck, and force feedback in a home console accessory is relatively recent.

I agree 100%. I used to have a Logitech Nascar wheel, which I could put on my lap (it had suction cups, not clamps), and it was great fun at that time. However, once I experienced force feedback, it was just so much better! A huge improvement, by which I mean that you could feel exactly what was going on around you, when you hit a bump, when you're losing traction - in short, everything FFB is meant to do :p. Now, I can never go back non FFB. It's like my baby. :p

Tell you what, save some more money and get a tv diner stand, perfect height. I use one and see if the bottom of the pedals have a carpet grip on them. I didn't know mine had it until I turned it over. I sit right on my comfy couch and get to grinding.

They do have a carpet grip thingy, but my room has those Italian floor mosaics, I do not have a carpet there... That sucks so much, I have managed to clamp the wheel kind of ok on some pc table, the problem is with the pedals, I just cannot make them stay put anywhere, so in the end I will end up buying some full setup thing, like the obutto or something, just saving now to get it in the "near" future (I hope so).
