DFGT - Paddles or Sequential?

I sort of vary what I use to what the real car has, so the sequential knob for everything before 2000, and paddles if I know/can see, that they are there... And anything only available as an auto, I use Automatic (And Google! :lol:)

Former Golf mk V GTi DSG owner and DFGT owner...

I find that I use the DFGT in almost exactly the same was as I used the Golf paddles / sequential stick IRL.

Paddles almost always - but occasional reach for the stick in very twisting conditions where you have got out of sync with where your hands / wheel / paddles are...

Yep the paddles are basically in the same place but the shifter for the DSG is just garbage. The up and downshift directions are wrong. :yuck:

Have you tried up for reverse and down for ebrake? This seems like it would be even better for me and give you the missing ebrake function in GT.

this is how i've got mine set up. works quite well.
 
Paddles for shifting, unless I am drifting or mid way through losing control !

Then I have pulling the stick back as a handbrake and push forward for changing down. This helps a lot when you get it wrong.

When I get back to playing GT5 again ( 7 months living in Alaska working !! )
I will probably invest in a different wheel, with a clutch and h-pattern.

The DFGT is excellent for an entry wheel and can thoroughly reccomend it. After playing every GT up to 5 with a DS3 I have not gone back to the DS3.

Good luck, the best bit of advice is to build a good stand/cockpit as this makes the wheel worthwile.

Paddles. I would do the odd shift with the stick if I'm in a bad situation. I think I would just be faster with shifters.

That's how I play it. Most of the cars in the game wouldn't have a paddle shifter, so I use the stick, but I'll use the paddles for something like for formula cars. If I'm not sure what the car has, if it's a premium (I use cockpits) I'll just watch the driver's animations to see if he shifts with a stick or paddles. Unfortunately, I can't do that with 80% of the game's cars, so I just guess. If it's a regular production car I normally assume a stick.
 
whenever I use my DFGT I always use the sequential, Ive got it configured so that when I push the lever up, it changes from 1st to 2nd, and down to downshift.

I do occasionally drive 1 handed when I'm not up/down shifting. :P
 
I always use paddle shifters to change gears, but have the shifter set up so that when i pull it towards me it changes up gears (good for when i'm sliding and wanting to change up) and pushing it up puts the car into reverse - which is much easier than finding the triangle button.

i did not realise you could switch between H shifter and sequential on the G27. do all other wheels that include an H shifter have this function?

You can switch between the paddles and shifter on the fly but only on the g25 can you make the stick like a sequential shifter just like on the DFGT.

There's the difference between a g25 and a g27 shifter. Turning the knob on the g25 shifter makes the stick behave like a dfgt shifter.
 
I usually use the paddles, bit I can't reach them all the time so I use the shifter when in tighter turns. The main problems with the DFGT 'paddles' is that they aren't mounted to the base, but rather on the wheel itself, so sometimes it's impossible to reach the 'paddles'.

Same, paddles unless I can't reach them. I am going to order a Fanatec for $159 and sell my DFGT. I am ready to get my clutch on.
