I made a video showing me using the DFP while driving the fist half of Liscens S16. www.3rdgenracerX.net/DFP2.wmv

I had to splice two video's together since my camera can only record 1'35 before running out of memory. Just need to get an A/V cable for the real cam corder then I can make a real full lenght video's like this.

O MY GOD!! YOU ARE PHUCKIN AMAZING!!! I am literally speachless, great driving dude!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My dad was seeing it with me, and during the whole movie he was saying that DFP isn`t worth of buying. I told him to go to hell!!! :)

Because what is 160 degrees on a DFP is 35 degrees on the regular DrivingForce.

Get it now?

Jay

I wonder if there is a way to correct that problem... Seriously though... Its hard to drive in the arcade cause 360 back to back is way to sensitive... I drive a real car and the difference just makes me slam the wheels to the end on those stupid arcade ones (not to mention crash into walls) :guilty:
Thankfully I don't go to the arcade often (once every 6 months I think... waste of money, me thinks)

But the DFP is too expensive... (I have money but I'm cheap) I'd buy the DF cause its cheap... Don't have room in my room for the DFP anyways :( ...

edit... The vid was awesome!! I wish I could drive like that~

I wish i could find my Users manual so i could figure out what the top right green light is for. Mine barely even glows..... urs is like a bright Green..... wonder why.....

ediit......

nm i figured it out :)

wow....that was freaking amazing..................that vid does the DFP justice+++++++....i cant wait till i get one(that wont be for a while)

Simply WOW. The realism coming from the feedback in the wheel is great.. can't wait to use my DFP.. it's still in the box =)

dude, you gotta download live for speed, and maybe the RBR demo. 👍

So, is driving harder using 900 mode in Live for speed, or in GT4?

I have a Driving Force Pro but it knocks during the transition between left and right steering.

Apparently, all Driving Force wheels (MOMO Force included) have the same knocking noise, and the cause is as simple as there not being enough grease on the gears inside.

I've tried to open it up and find out what parts are knocking, but I couldn't get the body apart because the clamps won't unscrew and sepparate from the body.

Just trying to get them undone with a big flat head screwdriver, all I succeeded in doing was breaking a bunch of teeth off the inside of the things that you twist to increase clamping pressure.

I just wanted GT4 to be as enjoyable an experience as possible..

With some 510 horsepower and weighing some 1710kg, that car will naturally be tuned to understeer for the sake of the safety of the consumer market.

Thus, you will have to learn how to moderate the throttle, especially while steering.

On one of the corners, you started turning at full throttle, and when you noticed that you were plowing towards the outside faster as you turned the wheel more, you suddenly let off the throttle and touched the brake when all you needed to do was slowly lift off the throttle until the car started turning in again.

When you learn how to balance steering with throttle like this, driving becomes alot smoother and more enjoyable.

Even in the rediculously overpowered rear wheel drive M5.

Another good/fun car to train this skill would be the newer RUF CTR2.

It is also prone to understeer (which could partially be because of the 4WD layout), but it is also a production car with immense power.

Plus it remains below the 1400kg mark. Meaning, it's fast, but still a fun car to drive (ie. not overly resistant to driver input).

Just a thought.

Slurp: Thank you very much for in-depth analysis. I've done my video like that: Friend came, showed me his new digital camera with option to record movies. We wanted to see how it works, I plugged in PS2 and drove away. Zero practise. And I was not trying to drive smooth or anything. I was intentionally messing with the car just to demonstrate 900° mode with DFP - how much steering is that, how fast can it be done, and so on. It was not nice lap, but it was a demonstration video for those, who haven't yet bought DFP. I believe they should, because it is very fun to drive like that ;).

Yeah, I bought my wheel a few months back when it was like $230 canadian and have used it in several games (LFS, TXR, NFS:U, GT3..).

Live For Speed really brought out the true potential of the wheel.

I already look forward to testing out a handful of extremely diverse cars with it in GT4.

Oh yes, DFP is great in LFS. I have added a clutch to my momo pedals (i have a momo force too), plugged in DFP@900 and Act Labs Shifter, sat down im my homemade cockpit and LFS just gets onto another level ... :D

But strangely - how can you drive NFSU with a wheel. I just can't 'cause it (pardon my language) sux. I used keyboard for both times on PC and used DS2 on PS2. Wheel is for serius games for me - GPL, Viper Racing, GTR2002, LFS, GT3 and GT4P.

i use 200 mode, and i've turned upthe sensativity in the car settings and game settings. I just wish NFSU had a clutch in it. :) Same thing with gt4.. to have a clutch option would be awsome, but its still probably a great game.... 4 more days... .4 more days.....

I use the old pedal from my logitech driving force as a clutch. :)

👍 Thanks Simracedriver for putting the vid up on Yousendit.

I had to remove all of my video's because of the thousands of downloads. I only have a 120 gig bandwith limit for the month and as the last monthly estimate I looked at showed 210 gigs for the month if I kept everything up. Since I would get charged a dollar per gig over, well common sense previals in that choice

I would have redirected all of the vid links to my video page www.3rdgenracerX.net/videos if there was that option on my hosters service, if it is then I couldn't find it.

Really awesome control, I drive like that, but can only do so using the shifter pedals to the side of the wheel. But that's fantastic control how you can drive that fast with the shifting stick. I'd love to see more vids from you driving like this...

Hot damn that video is awesome 3rdgen. You made that look so freakin smooth - it was almost like you were bored behind the wheel,. I'm gonna be stuck my good old DS2 rather than a DFP :(.

Thank you - that's one fabulous exhibition of driving and the experience of the DFP. I hope that I'll become that good some day. You make it look so easy.

I can see from your driving, that one of the most important issues is to have a firm and comfortable driving seat. I will have to work out that part next.

Once more, thanks for a great video - it goes into my collection of GT vids. :) 👍

What a vid! I had ordered the DFP along with the game, but from some of the bad press I read on these forums, I was beginning to think it was money not well spent. This vid has put all my concerns to rest. It was so cool to see you fight with the wheel, simply cos you were pegging it down the straights! Man that was fast! And I'd drive the same as you in those types of cars, stick shift is the only way to go.

I thought the constant whining of the wheel would drive me nuts, but I only heard it once here. Secret is to keep it smooth.

I cannot wait.

Thanks. That's one craazy video. I don't know if I should buy the DFP.... Like you guys are all saying it's hard to use so I'm unsure.

Anyone who actually owns one and has used it extensively can vouch for me when I say that it's easier to use than the Dual Shock controller.

I bought mine when it first came out, but it's way cheaper now.

Even if the price hadn't dropped, I would still recommend that you buy one.

Hard to use it? Now that is funny. It's easier than with DS2, more precise and especially more natural (closer to the reality). If you intend to play GT4 seriously, you must buy it.

Yes, another friend of mine has just got his DFP and he is thrilled and I am happy to report, that his times are getting better with it also.
