Well Im not sure how the race will work out, but I am sure of this... "ain't no slackin' dis time around." jk.

For real though, with thanksgiving, no school and limited work, I plan on making sure I don't turn in a time that was raced the evening of the due date.

I will be back if I have any complaints or request for help

btw, I think that the rules should stay as is with one exception... the final kink in the course... no exceptions on that. I say no off-track allowed, of course thats just this humble racer's opinion.

I do believe that Bob was giving loose versions of the AI contact rule mainly because it's a long race, and you're always in the pack. I don't believe he'd give as much slack withe Two tires on Track at all times rule. Especially in that corner.

I always drive with at least two wheels on the track or its a restart. These JGTC cars are having fits with this track!

No Kiddin'! In "General" they don't drive too poorly, but watch out for the Denso Supra just after you go under the "Monkey." He has a habit of hitting the Canyon wall & almost coming to a Stop right in the middle of the track!!!...UB57

OK, just took my first two beatings through the canyon. First one gave me a hot shoe = Denso Sard. WOund that one out with a second place finish 17+ seconds out of first.

Second attempt garnered me an amazing race against the Tom's Castrol. At the final hairpin on lap 14 I was about 1.5 seconds out. Knowing I could just about manage that on orange tires, and one lap to go Iwas eager for a photo finish. Low and behold...He pitted. handing me an easy win.

Just finished shoveling in a fantastic dinner, and am due to pop a movie in. After that it's nap time and maybe another run later tonight.

Fast lap was in the 1'29 range. ( I think). [edit]Yep, fast lap was 1'19.529. Win margin was 18.729[/edit]

Fits? If this were real life, that corner just before the second tunnel would look like a junkyard storage bin. I've actually been aiming right for the AI at that point, because I know they'll slam the wall and ricochet across the track. Right out of my path!

I managed to drop 14 seconds off my previous best time. Now if I can just maintain speed between T1 and T2 I should be able to run consistant 1'18's. If.......

And here I was going to post up my new and improved time... and I realize GT3mich is 2 seconds faster than I on consistent laps. That's a full 30 seconds at the end of the race. So I can speculate that you're turning in a time in the 20min 20sec range.

My fast lap hasn't dropped, but I did manage to Beat the Denso on my last run by 7+ seconds. I've got loads of time today to race, so it's off to work out smoothing up my turning.

Not quite that fast yet Der Alta. That is what I shooting for. If I can run a high 19 minute race that would be ideal. That will be very, very hard for me to do....

I just started get my times into an area that I felt I could work with, then the dreaded mistake occured.

First the pad on my analog stick wore out and tore off. Then my stupid ass tried to switch the analog sticks (which worked), but in the process managed to ruin the connections for the l2/r2 buttons.

So now Im on the no throttle control ds1. (all or nothin baby )

So the ride is now a whole hell of a lot more twitchy/touchy.

Till I get a time worth mentioning... later.

I'm back home & "Behind the Wheel" for the first time in nearly a week. Must say I've learned a lot from other's "Set-ups" & pushed myself a little "Harder" because of the Great Competitors we've attracted.

I just took my first shot at Race #3 (other than the tests I did) and beat one of my "Test" times run w/552HP & only ONE Pit Stop !!! It's now "Painfully Clear" that I didn't take enough HP out of the Diablo. I'm sure the "Fast Guys" are taking the lead on the first lap & never seeing "Traffic" again. Even I'm getting out ahead of traffic after the 1st stop & only one car gets by during the second!!!

I've got more time to "Fine Tune" next week's race than I did this one, so maybe I can find a formula to "Keep us in Traffic" a little better.

Back to the topic at hand. I think my wife will be filing for divorce soon, I've been spending waaaay toooo much time on the wheel! I started out getting a good settup using the DS2, and giving m'self a good ghost to chase. But when I started to use the wheel, it was painfully clear that that settup wasn't gonna cut it! I had to really soften up the rear end to keep from making doughnuts on every turn!

I've started (<-key word there) many races, only to bang a wall somewhere . I did just finish one that IMHO is clean enough to submit, but nowhere near the total time I should be hitting. The one thing I was really happy with is the consistancy of my laps, even with the pit stops and blue tires!

Here are the settings I'm using for the wheel. The DS settings are in parentheses (<-spelling's no good tonight)

But us slow guys are getting Stomped by the JGTC cars
After my first pit stop I don't see any traffic again UNTIL I CATCH UP WITH IT.

@"Pokie": What setting are you using on your wheel? After using "Pro" for quite a while, I dropped mine back to "Amateur" for Mr P's "ARC" (All "Dirt") Challenge. Forgot I'd done so & left it there upon my return to "Tarmac." I've continued to use the Amateur setting & in my case at least it seems to help me drive a little "Smoother." JMO

@ Gil: After last week's improvement 👍 I'd think you ought to be beating ALL the "AIs" to the finish line before this week's over!!! Keep at it (& leave that PT Cruiser alone!!!)...UB57

But the PT Cruiser keeps calling me...
I just used it to "spank" the C5R in the Amateur American Championship.
The replays are kinda funny to watch. I may have to take some HP out to make things more "even".

BTW, I'm not winning against the AI. I'm just running with them. Then noting my times, and where I'm spanking the AI, and where the AI sends me out to "cut my own switch".
I am finishing in the traffic, instead of WAAY behind it. But the majority of my races are spent trying to find the traffic.
The other thing I've noticed: Running mid-pack you run pretty much alone. The first two or three cars are about 4 seconds ahead and the two (or three) slow cars are about 4 seconds behind.

On another note: the wife goes back to work on Monday, and If the Nursing agency doesn't call me to orient at the prison, I'll have the house to myself Monday and Tuesday for the running of Race #3.
While I'll miss having her around the joint, My "honey-do" list will shrink considerably.

Thanks Guys! It was indeed a great day. Plenty of GT3 time in the morning, and a great evening with the wife. Had Pumpkin cheesecake for the first time in my life. That was after a Nice steak cooked Pittsburg style and a few tasty shrimp. Made it home and off to bed . Love my wife.

UB57 Well, it's good that you found 7 more seconds, because I found 8.

I'll get a few more chances to run this tomorrow. Well actually today, it's nearly 3am and I can't sleep.

Kent, Good luck with the DS1.

I'm actually running with tweaked settings, that were pilfered from pokealong back at Deep Forest. See to work quite nicely for me here.

Even me being a slow guy, I've managed to take the lead at the first lap and keep 10-15 seconds ahead of the AI at the first pit. I do see traffic, but usually not much of it.

I edited my earlier post re: settings, changes in bold. I included the gearing, and reduced the rear DF by 5. Helped me get a Free Run lap of 1:18.0xx

@GoKents, let me know if those suggestions helped.

@Mich, I'm only using the DS2 to navigate thru the screens, settings and whatnot. It'll take this old dog a while to get used to the new ones

I also use the D-Pad to navigate thru the screens. The buttons on the wheel don't always work and their set-up makes little logic.

@ "Pokie": Yep "Twitchy" was exactly the word I was looking for! Leave the "Pro" setting to those kids who still have "Quick" reflexes!!!

As for keeping your DS2 close by: Do It!!! As GT3mich pointed out, all the MOMO's buttons don't work & even w/those that do "Navigation" thru the menus is a real Pain. AND although the MOMO doesn't do it nearly as often as the Logitech "Blue" Wheel, it still "Siezes" occasionally. (Hit the "Pause" button on your DS2, unplug & replug your "USB" cable & you should be "Good to Go.")

@ DerAlta: A Great Celebration AND 8 more seconds! Now that's a "Birthday even I'd like to have!!!"(& I've had Way too many already!!!) 👍 ...UB57

The stuff we talked about worked to an extent. I lower rear spring rate just a little, and did the same to the front so I could keep the same level of oversteer.

Then I jumped up the df on the rear and...

I pulled my time down again.

Much more consistant now, and will talk to you guys about it as the week progresses.

Well, some bad news, a bit of good news, and some bad news.

Bad News: I've run the Diablo to the point where it is loosing HP due to mileage. UB, can you give me directions on how to fix that problem (Via MK's)?

Good news, In the current configuration I'm turning in very consistent 1'19.low laps.

Bad News: I was placing down my best run to date. It was the first time I've been paried off against the Denso and the Tom's in the same race. My first lap was a 1'26 mid followed by three 1'19 runs. I placed near that on my pit stop run and exited in 3rd just behind the Denso. I cought him at the end of that lap (another near perfect run for me) and battled with him back and forth up to the Free Jack Chicane. At which point he forced my up the edge and launched me out of control. the landing spun me right out. Dropping that lap to a 1'28 and the following lap to a 1'24. A few choice words were exchanged with the PS and I hit the reset button.

Other than that, I'm having a good time running this.

Der Alta, if you still have the ini file, save your current settings for your car before you do this BTW, and just over write your Diablo with the file. I'm not sure if this will work but its worth a try. I that doesn't lower the miles then trade for a new Diablo and over write the new one. And if that doesn't work I'll send you a garage that has the modified Diablo at the top. Mine still has 0 miles on it. I never save any of the races because if I don't like my start lap, I start over and those restarts will ruin my 100% win status. The money is useless to me.

Something to keep in mind is that while oversteer is nice for making the corners, your acceleration out suffers if you're even a little bit sideways. Tis far better to brake early, and power your way around the bend. That's what makes the double left ending the second sector so difficult, getting around the turns and not hanging the rear end out!
