Did I miss a change to the SR system notice?

Curious.. for weeks i have been a blue "S" and then in two races last week, I get sidesipped (replays to confirm) when I was in position and I end up with a 10 Sec pen.. dropped to an A.. finally get it back to "S" and again, get hit by the other drivers that are "S" (how is that possible) and end up with a 10 Sec pen when they bounce off the wall hard and then sidewipe me.

What changed?

I'm finding the penalty system is more harsh recently but not in a good way, exact same thing happened to me regarding a driver crashing and bouncing off a wall, they ended up back on the track facing sideways, didn't ghost (as an out of control driver that just gone off track and bounced off the barrier should ghost), hitting them was unavoidable, the out of control driver got nothing and I got a negative SR movement and a 10 sec penalty. To top it off my hit actually pushed them up a few spots and facing the right way so they probably ended up in a better position lol.

My more general question is: why obsess about 2 incidents out of the 100s of clean sectors you have run?

You're a super clean driver so just move on, you are winning the long game.

You can clearly see that ps plus is free at the moment, i was sr s and in a couple of hours im sr b again... Its full of noobs in the sport mode. And the penalty system thats really a mess right now. You are allmost forced to stay back and drive the race in your own to boost your rang, its also a challenge on its own if you now your faster then the others.

Do you mean SR S? I doubt you will encounter any noobs at DR S.

Yeah i mean sr. And btw there are some dirty racers with dr s, you dont lose rang in dr by playing dirty.

The system has always been bad since launch but it does seem worse. I just got done with two races where my SR was in the red because I was hit or made minor contact with someone (a small bump from behind or touching going around a turn, and this only happened once or twice). I was literally dive bombed and my SR went orange while the car in front went by without penalty. Also, it’s ridiculous that people aren’t penalized for blocking or brake checking, especially considering those were two things gone over in PD’s etiquette video. Either penalize for those things, or don’t act like that’s how racing should be and put it in a video.

False! I was an A DR and S SR starting in first in a race in which I got pushed on the first turn of a race and the whole pack passed me... at this point you know you can’t win and you’re pretty pissed in general. So me being an idiot I drove super slow until the guy that wrecked me came around and I ruined his race by hitting him three times pretty violently and after the race I dropped to D DR and E SR I’ll definitely keep my temper in check from now on

Even one orange warning gives you less SR than you would otherwise have earned....

I do not agree with this.
I've had some orange -SR notificications onscreen and still got a blue S at the end.
For what I know it has to do with the length of the race: in a 3 lap race 2 or 3 orange -SR notifications can give you a SR downgrade, while in a longer race you can still get a blue SR rating at the end.

As for me, I don't really care about orange or green SR ratings during a race; you win some you lose some, that's racing ;)
I'm at B/S for quite some time now with an occasional drop to B/A and that's ok.

Regarding OP's question: I did not notice any changes. Will pay extra attention to it when racing today :)

Sorry. Obviously meant DR points. Not SR...

Not sure about DR either, sorry :D
My DR usually stays white even when I've got some orange -SR notifications during a race.
From my experience SR is the one that's most influenced during a race.

In long races you can easily afford a few orange sectors, probably no more than 5 per 8-10 lap race. Shorter races definitely no more than 2/3 orange sectors.

I wondered if something was changed recently, Bathurst and Nurburgring were absolute punt fests yesterday/today but I wasn't sure if thats just because they are tight bumpy tracks... One was at N24 turn 1 with basically everyone trying to turn in going slow and some muppet decides to go bowling with the field and punted my door sending me right off into the fence. He was never in a million years going to make the corner at that speed and yet I cop an orange sector and 10 second penalty for that....

The DR seems to be a very slow moving thing indeed and I do see PD's aim when they measure you against the worlds best S drivers and thats why I cannot get past A right now, those guys are seriously quick (I have raced against JUN-JEEEEEE and some of the other top 10 asian drivers) and deserve that A or S rating.

If you're worried about DR over SR I probably wouldn't be, as it will smooth out eventually. At launch I thought I was really quick and was winning races all over the place, now I have to go balls out just for top 3. The one thing Polyphony should have done is either base your starting rank off the driving school results or have some sort of "gateway race" with the AI to give a rough starting point for your SR/DR.

Its very hit or miss I have found, more miss to be honest. Game does not differentiate the difference between rubbing and ramming. Scraping paintwork is fine as long as you don't push opponent off his line or off course if there is room on inside. However sometimes it has surprised me and worked as you would hope, last night I was drafting a gtr down the first long straight approaching turn 2 at Bathurst, went to go down his inside which he then covered which is fine, however when I switched to outside with greater speed he weaved back in front of me. Of course I could not stop and punted him into the wall. I however got no loss to SR nor get a time penalty which is correct as weaving is bad driving.

Your dr rang only changes when you finish better then your starting position, or when you finish lower then your starting position.. It does not change when ramming others or doing crazy things, as long you finish better your dr will be better.

Well I got dropped because some idiot would not accept my overtake and rammed back of me (saved video of that) I got orange sr sign AND 10sec PENALTY!?

My DR has gone up with a lower starting position. It depends on your opponents DR too.

From A to D though... I think the ramming had an effect on that. One bad race wouldn’t kill your DR that much

...Nordschleife today, 2nd starting place, guy behind me was constant ramming me, every turn, 4th time when he hit me, it was so hard that I wasn't able to control car, and I hit 1st one, he flew off track, I got pen of 10sec... because of stupid guy... he was after race A rank, and so was I... don't understand why is it so hard to implement something that works... this ratings suck big time...

I’ve been penalised twice today driving in the middle of the track with no-one near me... (no penalty just negative sr tick). Didn’t cost me anything so it’s no biggie but it was rather confusing... On the Nordschleife so the only thing I can assume is I cut some corner slightly too much or something..

I think maybe they did a ninja change. In my MFG Cup race I got punted hard twice, once all the way off the track and received no penalty on my part. On the second hit which knocked me completely off the track in that last corner at Dragon Tail my punter slowed afterwards. Don't know if it was to give me back my position(which I took) or due to penalties.

I struggled for a long time moving on from SR B, going back and forth to C and even a quick drop back to D. But now I'm finally S and have had multiple races under my belt to say I'm somewhat underwhelmed by drivers in this top category. I think in general I notice more sportsmanship and responsible driving but it's absolutely not enough to be sure someone isn't going to divebomb you or bump you a bit.

At the end of the day though, I'm not sure more should be expected than that anyway. After all, everyone is competing to win and you're always going to have some bumps here and there the more you play, but like I said SR S seems to be a little cleaner than the lower rankings so at least that's something. But it's definitely on the more general side rather than any guarantee that you're going to have a clean race.
